the nostalgia is strong, but looking back this game is actually super solid. Where else can you build your own car and then race it? When I look back at some other games from my childhood i can tell they weren't nearly this good

Crash team racing is way better with its powersliding system. This one doesn't have anything else than "go for green brick and use tunnel" there is nothing but a boring straight forward driving.

That intro is so gold. Lots of little details in the race, the drivers, the podium.

@@rebelfleettrooper9881 Same here, although Gypsy Moth was always a bitch to defeat, but I beat her in the end. Even so, I technically think she should've been the final boss tbh instead of Rocket Racer since he was always so piss easy to defeat, especially since there's so many white and green bricks littered throughout Rocket Racer Run, meaning you always get plenty of chances to use the Doctor Who feature (I.e. time vortex), and plus there's obviously the hidden vortex behind the door.

I don't think it's possible to beat him by just conventional racing. You have to collect the green go-fast powerups, and have them maxed by collecting the white bricks which allows you to warp ahead. Keep doing that and it's easy.

honestly reading all these comments knowing all these people felt what you felt when you played this game , fucking great man , i almost feel all sensible and real people played it lmao, and they took the time to remember it sometime . GREAT GAME 10/10 we are all getting older and wish we could get the enjoyment we got out of this game in life now ! can gaming bring true happiness ? great community people drunk commenting right now lol . This game was my childhood man, imo the older lego sets were better than the ones we have today maybe it's just nostalgia but they did seem a lot more original and awesome. Damn I miss the 90's, the days where I could just play with my lego's all day and not have a care in the world

Lego Racers was the first game I ever 100% completed I was so proud of my 6 year old self back in 2006.

The nostalgia is literally bringing me to tears.

I like that the graphics actually looks pretty good, just because it's LEGO

When I go back and play this game I always try and make it so Governor or one of the other non-hosting drivers wins the championship, since beating the game myself is so easy now

This game is like my childhood.

I miss this game sooo much. Was one of my favourites as a kid. I remember my heart racing when getting closer to the finish line and trying to keep or fight for rank 1

I recently heard an essay about movies, that if you feel that something happens outside of that you see in the movie, then it has great world building. I don't know how, but Lego Racers has always given me that feeling, even now 20 years later.

This game! Every music, every sound, every voice... This brings many memories from many years ago. I remember the times when I used to be first place in a race and not. It has possibly been 13 years.

That intro man... i used to play this with gaspedals and steeringwheel. I think i came in last every single race i ever did but i just liked driving around.

I was so young playing this game that every single frame from the intro is like a movie to me, so integral to my life. Honestly kind of crazy how much I love this game. It doesn't feel like im looking at legos, it feels like real life.

I used to love this game. Spent ages building my own race karts and creating my own minifig drivers. So much fun wish they'd make a new one.

I love this game. When I was a child I play this game every day.

I played a lot of kart racing games as a kid, but this really was something different. It was so fast paced didn't make you feel frustrated and it was just such a fun time.

I will never forget this game.i was 10 years old. It was fascinating. I wish i can turn back time to 1999 to play it again for the first time.

I noticed that in each Circuit, each of the bosses swaps voices to their mirror counterparts. If this doesn't make sense to you, here: Captain Redbeard = Johnny Thunder King Kahuta = Baron Von Barron Basil the Batlord = Gypsy Moth Johnny Thunder = Captain Redbeard Baron Von Barron = King Kahuta Gypsy Moth = Basil the Batlord Tip: Johnny Thunder, Baron Von Barron and Gypsy Moth are pretty much Captain Redbeard, King Kahuta and Basil the Batlord all over again, but tougher or weaker and the tracks are MIRRORED and in REVERSE order.

This is the absolute first main memory I have from my childhood, I played this game when I was 4, and I loved it. I remember the music, the maps, and the characters (especially the pirate). I'm glad the memory of this game stayed with me! 😊

This game will be lost to time, sadly. This game was SO good, especially for its day. As a kid, each level offered such a unique adventure, with the different classic lego themes, with different secrets to explore, different random gems to find. The car creator tool was incredible.. I spent hours and hours on this. Graphics were great for the time too.

This game holds some of the best nostalgia for me. So many friends came over and time well spent as a kid on this game. Remember it clear as day😭

just did a full playthrough of this yesterday. honestly it's still insanely good. the last 2 circuits are honestly pretty challenging. took me a handful of tries to ace em.

I remember i played more than two weeks to sucess the first race in the second level.

The menu music of this game is the best thing ever

Installed this and Lego Racers 2 along with Polaris Snocross on my PC. Now on the new Windows it won't let me run these games anymore. Finally time to put the nostalgia away, but these games by far provided so much more fun than any game nowadays. Thanks for the upload

Also, I usually pick up shields when I'm in the middle of everything so I don't get hit by the million incoming cannonballs.

Probably my favorite game ever, I enjoyed it as kid so much and will definitely try it again

Hands down, Pirate Skull Pass and Ice Planet Pathway are the HARDEST time trials. I noticed you cut it so close at 1:33:55 that Veronica actually disappeared at the end of the race, but you still won.

I played this game all the time as a child. Really miss playing it. I hope someday there will come a remake for newer pc’s but no changes to the game ofcourse

+Daniel Hall Indeed. We've actually looked at the game data itself and although remnants of shortcuts exist, there are none actually implemented.

I remember the intimidation I felt facing Rocket Racer for the first time... And the joy I had beating him!

I for one appreciated that you used the warp sparingly. Not only would abusing it make the gameplay incredibly boring, but it feels a lot closer to how I played as a kid. Twelve years on KZread and this video is still drawing people in!
