It’s proportioned so differently from what I expect for a ninjago mech, which are so typically chunky and heavy. Nice!

I love this mech, it looks straight out of Exo-Force with that giant sword, those shoulder cannons, and that blue-white color scheme! The proportions are also so sleek and almost humanoid, they are unlike anything I've ever seen in a Lego set. If Lego for whatever reason wanted to bring back Bionicle but make it brick built, I could almost imagine them having similar proportions to this set.

The proportions on this really make it look like something out of Evangelion, I really dig the design.

The next thing Lego needs to implement into their Lego mech articulation is a thigh swivel. Thats the best way to make a mech able to get solid footing with ankles that only tilt side-to-side, and not front-to-back. For example, in that first post you pulled off, if the left leg could rotate at the thigh outwards, then the side-to-side tilt at that ankle would allow the foot to sit flat on the ground, in a natural "toes out" position compared to the other foot

The base design, at least most of the torso, and legs screams Evangelion homage. I really like how athletic this mech looks, my one knock is all the red in the weapons clashes with the blue and white of the overall design. I guess I'd have also liked to see some dark blue mixed in as well for contrast, but overall really neat.

Been waiting for this review, thank you for posting it. I finally got to see this in person yesterday at a local Lego store and was underwhelmed by its size for some reason. I expected a bit more for $80 bucks, especially with Zane’s Titan Mech being similar in size and a much better value even after the price hike. I’ll definitely cop this at some point but hope to see it on sale.

This is really cool, and I love how they're finding new ways to approach joints and poseability in these mechs. Just imagine what they could do with a rebooted Exo-Force theme. The creativity and original story of Exo-Force while being all about mechs would probably be an extremely popular theme for kids and adults if they market it well. Edit: Lol, saw you mention Exo-Force in this vid. I do agree the stickers remind me of Exo-Force as well. It was my 2nd favorite theme right behind Bionicle. And I really do think Exo-Force could be very successful if it was brought back with a proper budget and marketing. As for Bionicle, I think finding a system-based design that still respects the aesthetics of Bionicle could be another successful venture for Lego, even with a smaller Marketing budget than with its original run.

  • @NoBettaFeta

In awe of the longevity of this theme but not surprised based on the creativity in designs and the ongoing storylines. Had this been a theme when I was growing up I’d have been hooked. Still tempted to pick up several of the mech sets.

I really like the consistency of the titan mechs. Lloyd's, Zane's, and now Jay's are all really good. Though Lloyd's was made before the knees. I wonder if they'll do a Nya's titan mech or the Samurai-X mech will be her "titan mech" set. And I do think they'll do ones for Cole and Kai as well. with 3/6 of the Ninja having a specific "titan mech," this is gonna be a definite pick-up for me.

Wow, this set completely flew under the radar for me! Didn't even know it existed until just now. Mech looks so sleek and different from other lego mechs in general (tall too). As some others have pointed, it feels very Eva like in proportions and posture to me (love the hunchback/smartphone neck, lol). Neither the Ninjago theme nor the mech itself in particular has enough draw for me, but I'm quite excited and/or interested to see if Lego continues to create more mechs in this style, and if so, how they improve the execution of it. Also, they introduced friction inserts?! Whaaat. I would love to see it become more common, especially for big Star Wars walkers and such. My playscale AT-AT's feet love to slide and break out of the pose on smooth surfaces, but they aren't quite large enough to comfortably accept rubber tire pieces as friction adders.

Core still seems like a bit of a miss in terms of concept. While there are some really good sets, part of the original allure of Ninjago was the story and the collecting aspect of both golden weapons and figures. So as a subtheme meant to bring new fans in, I think it could be handled better. I am biased as I grew up with the series, but core does not feel like a good replacement to legacy in terms of finding a new audience.

I've never bought a Ninjago set, I think it started right as I got out of LEGO. Now that I'm interested in it again and there's a Tahu GWP set that you can only get by spending $100 on certain themes, I've been looking at stuff I'm not as familiar with. I really like the design of this mech and it reminds me of an anime called IGPX I watched a lot as a kid, so maybe this is one of the sets I'll go with for that order.

Cool set easy to build. I like the ninjago mechs but I put one of the small swords in the left hand and left the other small sword out because the swords hanging on the left leg was excessive. Also the top knot is a waste of parts and those parts could’ve been attached to something or left out to adding either a mini figure or a side build.

  • @TheFuzzyOcelot

I love the design but... Something about the leg articulation sort of bothers me. At first I was psyched to see a knee joint in this era of pre-bent knees, but the fact that you can't get much out of it is sort of disappointing. I understand the big concern is stability, but it's very possible to have a toy that has both limited, tight articulation, but enough joints to fully be able to get the most out of it. Best example I can think of is Don Onitaijin from the Avataro Sentai Donbrothers toyline. It's legs only move one click forward and back, as well as having ankle and knee articulation, every joint is super tight, and the entire figure is super solid and easy to play with. In spite of all that, it's very easy to get it in some super dynamic poses for when you're done messing around with it and want it to look good on a shelf. The balance of playable and posable is very much a real thing, and LEGO is so close to being there, but seems to just barely be missing the mark.
