@@RobinHoodBricks we all are 😂
This skate shop is really a convention-level build. In fact, the entirety of Brick Nottingham would be a marvel of awe at a convention and likely win at least one award. You have built set-worthy MOC's for almost the entire thing, a crazy cityscape + subway, and worked extant sets into it all like a true pro. This skate shop could easily be put into a "cube" (you'll see what I mean) with a few of your other builds other as part of that Cyberpunk city recently featured on Beyond The Brick. Absolutely watch that whole 55 min video, you will learn so much you didn't even think you needed to know, while being blown away nearly every minute.
A mall modular? That sounds amazing! I will really love to see the end build! You do an extremely good job with your builds, keep up the good work!

Haha, do you mean the guy on the ramp or the unattached boards? Much appreciated and more on the way!
So good. Those stickers really lift it and fit into the theme so well that your mind just reads it as a retail set. Nothing looks crammed in and the entire space is used to the full. There are little Easter eggs to look for and the two extra figures (bird and painter) being in the scene but not part of the main story just bring it from MOC vignette to something extra special. The rest of the Mall has a lot to live up too after this units storming start but if fast food corner is anything to go by the whole will easily manage to be greater the sum of its parts. Fantastic work.

Great start to the second instalment of Modular Mondays. My favourite feature of the whole build is the stickers on the windows - they look fantastic! Very true to life. The figs are also spot on. 🎉
I absolutely love this shop, Robin. Well done! Like you, I love my builds to be packed and stacked, creating lots of movement and life in my city. My only suggestion is to swap the window frames so that the red and yellow ones don't blend in with the signs. I can't wait for the next mall instalment!

Wait… has he already done that?
I like the starman mural. Sonic is more associated with skateboards than Mario but would be pretty tough to try to work into something that would look better with the space we are working with. For the skateboards, Id suggest swapping the black skateboard behind the display rack with a bright colored one like orange or yellow since the black one kind of gets lost behind the display. The SK8 sign really fits well thematicly. With how the boards flap out at an angle, maybe that could be used to your advantage to fit more in the overhead display area? The stickers add more than I thought they would. A very nice touch. The drab floor was a great choice, it keeps the focus on the better bits in the shop. I don't remember if any of the subway passes under that building plot- if not maybe we can work some kind of underground access thing in to to insinuate the mall extends underground as well?
the skate shop owner, I have not seen that face print since I was a kid that use to be my fav what a blast from the past

Just brilliant. I'd probably have used a 1x1 mod clip with a truck (or in LEGO a pair of wheels on an axle) for a door handle, but I'm pretty sure yours is even better. As a 47 year old who's been skating since I was 9 I very much approve. My layout has a skate park, but no shop... or hospital yet lol. Whoops. Now you just need a store for buying music, one for musical instruments, a couple of food vendors and a Radio Shack and you have everything a mall needs ;) And for someone who's 'not very well versed in skateboarding' you must be very observant as you've really nailed this! Fantastic work!

I had a friend who was into it. My balance or centre of gravity, or both, is wrong. I'm really using this mall as a dumping ground for all my shop ideas without a home!
This is amazing! So happy the Modular Mondays are starting again :DDD The only amendments I could think of would be to switch the Windows around, since the dark green is a bit lost next to the black door. Maybe the magenta next to the door an the bright blue one at the end with the dark green in the middle?? Also the white bird on the white air conditioning unit whitch is on the white wall could be blue? That said, I absolutely love this already and I am so excited for the rest of the build :).

Regarding the dark green window frame next to the black front door, good eye for detail! The color of it gets lost next to the black. Simply swap the dark green frame with it's blue neighbor or the red frame.

An excellent start to an excellent new series! This has been a long time coming, and I think it was worth the wait! I absolutely adored Fast Food Corner, and I think this new mall will easily match it, if not exceed it! Your SK8 shop looks super !!! 1 minor change would be to switch places with the dark green window frame with a lighter color, maybe the light blue, because next to the black door frame the green gets blurred , lighter color would make it pop out like the rest of the window frame’s. 👍😎🤩

Robin on one of the open jumper plates you could add another minifigure holding a skate board awaiting his/her turn on the half pipe to test out a new board. That would give you another story. Also if you have a sticker that says open/closed you could out it on the front door. Love the start of the new modular and I can't wait for the next installment.

As you were introducing the video I thought you might include some Vidiyo figures, as their craziness would fit right in. And I guessed you'd do a SK8 sign as well! I wasn't sure about the stickers when you started but they do look great. The window frames are either zany or preschool, not sure which! I think though that you should move the dark green one so it's on one end because it looks black on screen, and it's right next to the black door. Can't wait to see what other shops there will be. The mobile phone shop I'm guessing? I'd love to see someone do a cookware shop in Lego, and also a haberdashery (I think I might have to build that myself!).

Always a joy watching you make all of these fantastic builds, Robin! Really like how this one came out! Though I do think it is missing something, the one character that is arguably the most famous LEGO skateboarder there is, Pepper Roni of Lego Island fame! He would be a really nice splash of nostalgia for the shop, and maybe a possible skateboarding celebrity in the flavor of Tony Hawk or Mike V signing skateboards or putting on a show for some fans. Maybe he could be an amendment around the shop in the future?
