Jang gives us a 44-minute review having paid $400 out of his own pocket whereas (many) sponsored reviews could barely muster 15-minute videos even though they got it early and for free. You are the gold standard, Jang. Keep it up.

Agreed. Jang is the gold standard and the number 1 lego reviewer on KZread. Hopefully one day he will review the new UCS star destroyer and looking forward to the new UCS razor crest review.

I'm always disappointed when I am looking at a set and jang doesn't have a review for it. This guy is the authority on unbiased Lego reviews because you can see he has a true passion for it. I will continue to exclusively use his reviews for my future purchase decisions.
Great set, great review. I like how LEGO keep that childhood nostalgia alive by reminding you that you still can't afford a LEGO Castle set
As mom who ordered the first yellow castle to be sent to US from England, and now a grandmom who's contemplating completing the full circle for a grandson, I found Jang's review very fair, interesting and appropriate. Thank you!
Blown away. Most amazing lego set I have ever seen. This is literally the culmination of every wish I had as a child.

I've been waiting for this review for a while. I don't even know why. I own the set. I've owned it since it released. But for some reason, I really wanted to see you review it. Good job Jang 👍

In my opinion, the way Jang reviews a set is so soothing. It is practically like watching a super detailed analysis of something, where the thoughts are voiced about every little thing. I really like watching his reviews of sets that i myself have, because they give off that feeling of detail and passion in Lego.

I must admit I had no interest in this set before watching, but now it's soared to the top of my most wanted sets. I really appreciate how much detail there is without relying on stickers at all. Another excellent review.

Ha! That's funny. I kind of felt the same way. I collect so much Lego as it is I have to look for sets and excuses not to get them. This one was dismissed pretty early for me but now that I'm seeing it in detail, sigh* I am kind of compelled to get it especially because of the whole 90 year thing
Finally!!! a proper review, done by someone who's not a Castle person, but knows how to review sets... Weldone Jang!
the way that one wall folds in on itself is just incredible huge props to the designer on that one
They really brought out the HIGHEST levels of quality they could with this set, and it shows. No shortcuts, this is true LEGO, this is the posterchild of the LEGO slogan.
Thanks sir. I use your reviews exclusively before buying sets. Even my son says “check with that guy first” I have trained him well.

Whaaat! Thank you so much for the extra support! Glad I'm able to provide a service of value to y'all. The new review season starts in less than a week here!
This was the first lego set I bought in nearly twenty years. As soon as I found out it was a thing I was hit *hard* by the nostalgia. Both for the lego but also for my old interest in castles in general. Probably the most extravagant purchase I've made in that time, but I have no regrets whatsoever. It hits just the right balance of playfulness with architectural detail and semi-realism for me. A very satisfying experience to build! There was one piece missing and one piece the wrong shade of grey from the same bag. But luckily they were in places that didn't interrupt the build experience and lego sent me replacements without quibble.
Unlike Jang, when I was a kid, classic Lego Castle was my #1 favourite theme. Having just finished putting this set together, I am so happy with my $500 CDN purchase. Having some extra pieces, like an extra Queen, to augment the minifig selection certainly helps. This is going to be a centrepiece set for me forever.
15:54 This part is actually surprisingly historically accurate. Castles (at least the main stone structure) often had parts that would be inaccessible from the point of it's original construction, like rooftop towers that couldn't be reached through conventional walkways. This was so that the lord of the castle would have *temporary* access points made depending upon his, or his men's, personal preference for what would work best. They may have used ladders as access points some years, and removed them in place of wooden stairs or walkways at other points in time. I like to think that the castle is currently at an "inbetween" point at the moment, and they have torn down the ladder before beginning construction on the new walkway. This set has seemed to put a surprising degree of emphasis on realism, or at least reached an impressive degree of realism through sheer luck.

That is actually pretty interesting. I wonder if the designers for this set did this intentionally or not
I genuinely appreciate that Jang knows about machicolations :) Also, I agree with you about how it feels opened up like that. Opened, this set feels like a classic Lego play set (one my child self would dream of owning), whereas when it's folded shut it feels spectacularly historic in the best way possible.

I was hoping for a Shadiversity soundbite when Jang said machicolations
I’ve been anticipating this review for a while. Glad to finally be able to see your opinion on this one Jang!
Heard good things about this review and finally found time to watch it. Had a goofy smile across my face the whole way through as Jang perfectly details what is an incredibly set. As viewers, it’s easy for us to overlook just how much energy and effort goes into making a review like this. Jang is the hardest working Lego KZreadr out there. As a wise person once said: “Thanks Jang”.
Out of the bottom of my heart, you are the best Lego KZreadr out there. Your voice is so calming and you give good and honest reviews. Unlike many other KZreadrs, you keep your channel as friendly as possible. I’ve been watching you since I was probably around 8 and it’s crazy to see you still make videos. Keep up the awesome work❤
Man, if I had 400 euros lying around, this would be an instant buy for me. I adore this design, the details, the playability, everything. It also makes me nostalgic for the one Lego castle I did own as a kid and I remember loving the small medieval sets. Gorgeous, gorgeous set.
Excellent review. I’ve watched this several times now just for the aesthetics. 😁
As always, thanks for posting the definitive review of this set. It is especially helpful to watch a review from someone who was not gifted the set by Lego and therefore can be objective when it comes to value! As for me, I hope to see this on some sort of discount one day when it eventually releases at other retailers. The Galaxy Explorer just dropped to $75 at Walmart so I suppose there is hope!

This is why I love Jang's reviews. It's all fine with LAN members saying they'll be impartial but then they're afraid to criticise Lego too harshly and they don't have the same feeling of having to spend money on certain sets that we do

Jang is the MKBHD of Lego. MKBHD is the Jang of Tech world.
If I had this as a kid, I would have had an absolute blast, I can just imagine the countless scenarios I would have played out with this set. This set is amazing and the only thing I think needed to be added/changed is I think they definitely should have included a King minifigure to go with the queen and to really complete the selection of characters.
I really can't justify buying this at that price, but dear god this looks absolutely fantastic. I'm way more impressed now than I was when they first revealed it, looks stellar.
I’m glad I’m not a castle fan or, after seeing this review, I’d have to buy this set. Very impressive design and size. Really good looking set.
Thanks for the review Jang! I built this myself the past 2 weekends and I absolutely love the set! This set just dethroned Barracuda Bay and became my favourite set of all times! The build and all crazy angles of the castle, the fact that almost every space has minifigures access either via stairs or ladders is ace! I’m soon 47 years old and just like you I watched the catalogue of castle sets (and space sets) when I was a kid of the 80s and dreamed about owning them. I had classic city sets to play with but no other themes. But I’m a huge fan of the medieval period through movies and video games, so I totally dig this set. Also talking about Barracuda Bay, it’s amazing how that set is half the price of this castle, yet it feels the same size, if not slightly bigger. That just indicates how dense the castle really is built. Also thanks a lot for what you did with the food stand on top of the secret trap door, by ignoring the instructions and not placing it in the center, there is room for the beer barrel stand as well, brilliant! It’s actually so good I wonder why in the manual it’s not done that way, I actually rechecked that page and nope, Lego doesn’t tell you to do it that way. Last thing I would like to mention is that I bought my set from Lego.com in Belgium and the blue flag pieces on the side of the ox cart are all the same colour for me, just checked it in bright daylight and those 6 pieces are perfect in colour. So either I’m lucky or maybe there is a difference in the USA and European markets? (I’m sure sets for different markets get packed at different places and might get their parts sent over from different factories)
Your Video's are the reason i end up buying these sets, not the others who are sponsored and don't actually critique the sets properly. great stuff, good format hope you keep it going.
This has now become my #1 favorite set for sure- loved the build experience, the modern design but still harkens back to the classic 80s styles.. so much great stuff! So glad I have gotten into the Medieval theme this year, just as Lego put this out there!

The golden age of lego castle for me was knights kingdom two and the fantasy line from 2004-2009. Amazing sets that I wish I could’ve experienced even more than I did. That would’ve been the best time to be into the theme in my opinion. Hate how expensive the sets are now.
Still remember back when you reviewed the Pirates of Barracuda Bay set, and you said nobody would wanna watch a one-hour video of it. So glad you made this a 45-min video! You highlighted so many easter eggs and design techniques that were not pointed out by other reviewers. Thanks for once again reinforcing my buying decision Jang!
When the castle is opened up, it reminds me of the diorama that was in one of the old Lego Idea Books, which if my memory is accurate, was also a Lion's castle with Black Falcons visiting while some Forestmen were sneaking in.
This is one of those rare extremely expensive sets that I actually want to get. Super excited for your review, though I’m hoping to actually get it for myself someday!!
Man.. This set is so cool!! I wish I could get this for me and my older brother, since we both love lego's. And he's been wanting to build legos for sometime now.. The price is so expensive 🤑😖😭 I have been wanting to get back into older lego sets for a long time now, but haven't had anything for it.. But atleast I can live vicariously through this video and imagine the fun I'd have with it. Thank you for this wonderful blast from the past
the skeleton WAS a minifigure
Don't know what's better, the set, your review, or the background music!
Medieval Lego was by far my favorite as a kid, it started with the original, yellow castle and I later got the original Lion Knight's castle and a lot of the smaller sets. This, however is like something out of my very best dreams back then, really amazing. Great review as well!
There's something very soothing and reassuring about these long-form LEGO reviews and they sure beat just about most of what else is on TV nowadays. Nicely done!
"On second thought let's not go to Camelot. Tis a silly place."
This set is what love for your craft looks like.
Lion knights were the coolest thing when I was a kid. This makes me so happy but also very sad and nostalgic.
Fascinating! I hope they'll release similar advanced retro-sets for Space and pirates too!
Crazy that the Black Falcon knights are finally allies with someone after 30 years of war xD
Whenever i saw this released, i just said take my money. No regrets here, i was very impressed with angular design and how they did folding of castle. Its great construction and uses mostly basic bricks like 90s castles, even better as there is no big wall bricks, just small ones and genius technics. This is just just soul of LEGO creations, u can see love put into it.
Jang, I am on the last bag of this set which I’ve been building over the last 4 months or so. I’ve taken my time to such an extent that I have either forgotten about or never noticed some of the secrets you discuss in this review! After watching this video I have a new appreciation for this awesome set. So thanks again for your thorough, honest, unbiased reviews.
I love the fact that it’s fully closed but still has an elaborate interior.
I'm not big into castle theme or anything, andbthis set wasn't on my radar, but man, seeing it like this in a video... it's so cool and so tempting. I don't have the space for a set this big and solid at the moment, but I think I might consider getting one. Thanks for the review as always, Jang. Also.. appriciate the theme appropriate background music;) Makes the video feel special.
I'm also one of the, "I had minimal interest but now love this set," people. it's absolutely stunning and i can just imagine the stories that could be told with just this set. Quite frankly, I wish I had the room for it, I would snag it in a heartbeat. Also my creativity went wild when I saw it opened up, you could easily (if you were rich) take a second copy of the set and make a much larger, nicer castle, with better rooms, with no extra pieces beyond the 2 sets worth the parts. I could also see a MOC being made, with it in the center of a big castle town, stories with the forestment, and someone causing some commotion to set war between the Falcons and Lions (or, you know, the Falcons sending an envoy for "peace" and having a big army just over the hill waiting to invade)
I swear Jang is the Bob Ross of lego,so chill and oddly soothing
Just picked this up for $ 345 , sound!
The fact that they used the same shirt of the trobadour minifigure from the minifigure series as the shirt of the prince, and also used the same printed coin pueces as he did, makes me want to believe that this prince didnt want to be a prince and instead grew up to provide music to all those around the kingdom. That is interesting how they reused all of those pieces
Easily the best set of the year, and probably the greatest Lego set ever made, ever.
While I completely understand why some people would be a little upset at the price of this set, and $400 is a lot. I must admit, I love it. As a kid I loved the castle sets and used to love making my own kingdoms with them. I might be a little biased as this is the kind of set I would have wanted as a kid. I hope to see LEGO do more sets around castle theme soon aside from a one-off set every so often.
Best castle set in years.
You can hear in Jang’s voice that he really enjoyed putting this set together
It's expensive for sure, but majestic and well designed nonetheless, and a great throwback to the romantic 80's era of LEGOLAND, yet updated with lots of smart techniques and enjoyable segments... When I get to buy it eventually, I would definitely not regret it like some other sets I've purchased in the past. Another elaborate review that's worth watching. Thank you bud.
I just bought this Lego set after saving up enough money thanks for the review that made me buy it
I would love to buy this for myself, but $400, darn... I always wanted a LEGO castle, but never got one as a kid because there were expensive back then as well. Really enjoyed the video, thank you.
Camelot! Camelot!! Patsy: it’s only a model On a serious note this set is awesome, I’d totally buy it just for that reference
The restroom, the water closet, the privy. Gotta love it...
I totally want this set, having seen Jang's video. Just wish I could afford it!
This is the first time I bought a set before your review was out, I fell in love with it as soon as it was revealed, it's just magical, all my childhood dreams in one set.
Fun fact having just completed the set tonight after 3 days of building: in the massive extra pieces pile are 2 dark brown 1×1 round studs that can be placed onto the backpack minifigure's hands to just complete the Monty Python reference of the lacky carrying everything and banging coconuts together to pretend he has a horse. Love it so much that LEGO could give those extra parts for those of us who want to further flesh out the beloved movie reference they included.
I think you did an amazing job narrating (and not over-narrating) like you said. Helpful to know the sense of value is passable - because I know that it feels overpriced to me but the emotional excitement will help make up for that. If only they still had that forest GWP!
As always you provide such an honest (yet endearing), detailed (but necessary) and comprehensive review. You somehow strike the perfect line between seeming like a friend eagerly showing off their new set and a cautious parent deciding which set to buy for Christmas. As always, thank you Jang!
Just ordered this set thanks to your video. Thank you so much. 😊
Castle was my favorite theme as a kid and this set is just gorgeous
Wonderful set. My initial impressions were exceeded by the amount of interior detail and functionality. Great in depth tour and review. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hello Jang, I want to tell you, *BECAUSE OF YOU*, I bought that castle... I haven't touch a Lego for 20-25 years... I don't even understand why KZread suggested your video, I haven't watch any Lego stuff... still when I was on Lego's website, I saw the blacksmith... I bought it too... now, I feel like I was a victim of Lego because of your video... ps: I already built both sets! my right hand index finger is a little bit a soar... 😁
I waited for this for so long. Now that it's finally here, I can say it lived up to all my expectations. Beautifully put together. Loads of depth. And exuming a real love of LEGO. Oh, and the castle itself is really nice too. (Honestly, I checked this channel almost every day to see if this review was there yet. Exceptional work.)
Looks awsome. I wish i would be a kid again ❤
thanks for the detailed review. appreciate you highlighting all the cool features, without spoiling the build.
I was excited to get this one because castle was my theme growing up. I’m honestly pretty upset Lego has mostly “cancelled” castle themes and we haven’t gotten a proper theme in like a decade. So this was something I was excited for
Initally I was skeptical about the opening feature, because I thought it would close up just like any other castle forming a rectangular courtyard. Now I´m so happy about the complexity and compact nature of the structure. Of course all the inside features are great and add to the experience, but the closed-up shape and structure is the clou to me.
LEGO really knocked it out of the park with this one. I mean truly so much love going into this set that can be enjoyed for people of all ages. Definitely a set that should follow this formula!
Such an amazing and beautiful piece. Totally takes me back to my childhood when I had King's Castle back in the 80's along w/ the fortress of the other faction. Nostalgia seeing the symbols of those old sets.
This set is great, especially for LEGO standards. Even better was your review of it! I watch a few brick reviews form time to time and none of them manage to deliver a better look at all the details and features of a set that you do. This was really fun to watch, thanks for all the work you put into this. I think it shows. :)
This is incredible. I grew up on LEGO and Castle was one of my favorite themes as a kid in the early 90s. One of the first sets I ever got at Toys R Us was the "Black Monarch's Ghost" which always stuck with me. Do not own many sets these days outside of a few pop culture pieces (Back to the Future and Ghostbusters), but this would be such a perfect nostalgia piece to display as a classic Castle fan. Love your in-depth videos. 👍
woooo 45 minute mega review, we haven’t had one in a while!
Any classic Lego Castle fan will certainly love this set, it really is quite lovely and full of details, and so many minfigs in this set, the price is, well, very high yes, it's pushing it at 400$, but it's not terribly overpriced, you might need some good space to display it. Very nice review, Jang!
Thank you for doing this stellar review of this really cool set. I (and many, many others) greatly appreciate all the work you put into your craft; all the review/video work we see, all you do over on Twitch, & all the behind the scenes stuff as well. Personally, I watch very few other LEGO-related channels besides yours, let alone channels w/a focus on reviews. Knowing your videos aren't sponsored and that you do buy all the sets you review w/your own money means a lot, especially to someone like me that absolutely 100% cannot afford any huge, cool, but *expensive* sets like this one. Your thoughts are genuine, truthful, and very helpful in deciding what to buy for ourselves, and the way you showcase and present everything in great detail is wonderful. Been watching your stuff for years and years now, and I know I'll be sticking around for years to come, both here and on Twitch. :)

Wonderful Comment that I have to whole-heartedly agree with! I can't fit these huge gorgeous sets into my apartment (and usually, also can't find them in my budget). But Jang's deep investigative and critical reviews with such high production value, and his enthusiasm for Lego as a product, hobby and toy, make me feel like I have played with this toy up close myself. Thanks Jang!
I'm more of a mega construx fan, but ever since I was a child I've always loved Lego Castle. Most of my minecraft builds are a bavarian/medevial castle style, and it is a level of nostalgia I wish to achieve. I might get the set just for childhood nostalgia, but I haven't decided if I do, but your review has definitely swayed my opinion
Superb review, it visualizes all the details and feel of the build so well. Thank you so much Jang and keep up the good work❤
I really want this set, but the price is off putting when legos get that high. Don't get me wrong its worth it for sure. I love the lego Castles and this is a grand one for sure. I love how they give you enough mini figs to give it a actual castle feel, and than the design. Im a huge fan of the open / closing castles. Really love his videos, thank you for them they have really helped me pick and choose what to buy. As both money and space can be an issue. You always do such an amazing job with your videos.
Can’t wait to get this set soon
Imagine if you have lots of money, you can buy 2 to get a gigantic lego castle
Don't know when I last had legos, must be a decade, maybe a decade and a half. This right here though... the money you're saving up is no good if you never use it.
One of my favorite sets ever. Just so cool. Great in-depth review!
23:47 - a model of the original yellow castle is pretty awesome detailing!
Now if only we could actually get a Knights/Castle theme back, we'd be golden.
i love this set, just wished they gave us those classic smile yellow heads to give it those vintage vibes
i love all the details in this and the organic mix of decorative and play features
JANG I love your zoomed in and rotating table review, it looks so satisfying
Thanks for sharing! I've been waiting to watch your review of it! Don't have the budget to buy it for myself-but really enjoy seeing you share it, and get to enjoy it from a distance!
A long video but enjoyed every minute of it - it’s such a beautiful and amazingly detailed set. The designers have done a fantastic job on this. Bravo.
I used to love the castle sets as a kid. It felt like a dream come true. They were even releasing video games around those sets back then. Legos were truly my childhood
I watched the video in three pieces today and found it great! Thanks as always for your enthusiasm clarity.
Great review, Jang you always put in the time and effort to make the best reviews on YT.
Really appreciate the time you took on this one, Jang. Two thumbs up 👍👍
Long time viewer here. Glad to see you're still making such quality videos. You have been instrumental in me revisiting and enjoying Legos as an adult. Thank you. Cheers.
Fantastic review. Your attention to detail is greatly appreciated. Some of the build techniques (like that bending banister/balcony) and all of hidden areas blew my mind. I have my original knights castle (6073) and black falcons fortress (6074) but I never got the Kings castle. The nostalgia pull is strong with this one.
Just gotta day, this is by far the single best lego review I have ever watched. This review is a work of art in of itself.
The review we’ve all been waiting for! Thanks, Jang!
