The next Ghostbusters movie or the sequel to Afterlife is code named "Firehouse" so I think it will involve the firehouse and give Lego a reason to bring it back with improvement. That movie is supposed to come out next year December so it's likely we could see the set reboot.

Difficult to imagine this being improved upon. And even if they do a firehouse, it most certainly wouldn’t be this scale or have the classic references this one does…just buy this version.

@@dabearcub True, it'll have minifigs for the new characters and scenes from the new movie. Definitely won't have Dana Barrett or Louis Tully characters (at least not in these forms).

This is still my favorite building, never felt bad buying it. My only regret are that the stickers have started to fall off, and some bricks have started to color due to sunlight... But I still love to rebuild this one every time!

oof. Yeah, and when the sticker sheet goes for $40 before shipping it can get painful. I've seen people use a glue stick to resick stickers to pretty good success. It doesn't soak into the sticker and could be removed and cleaned if you wanted to replace in the future.

Cool review dude. I actually purchased 2 Firehouse sets. And used the extra pieces needed to make the whole building longer in length. As well as wider front entrance doors and higher ceiling for the first floor. In order to fit the Ecto 1 in properly from its Source material. I used the Ghostbusters the videogame remastered, to help me redesigned the interior.

This set is the BEST!!!!! IT was my white whale set and I just recently got it and it is amazing! It's my favorite set by far!

Some of the bricklink and rebrickable designs are really amazing! They get to design without thinking as much about sticking within a price point.

I bought both the Ecto-1 and the Firehouse NIB recently. I came out of the dark ages a few years ago. The Ecto-1 set me back about $150, and the Firehouse $700. Still have to open the boxes and build the sets.

I got this set early 2018, and am so glad I did, I don’t think this set would’ve been this good if it was made nowadays, today they’d make it a cheaper playset with 2 open sides (like the Playmobil Firehouse), and the Minifigure selection and detailing would be much weaker nowadays (like the Sanctum Minifigures)

I’d love this set and someone local to me is selling one but it’s just too much money. Great review, thank you.

You can fit the Ecto 1 in the firehouse, but you have to remove the boxes, and the 1st desk.

I really hope they bring this set back. Either this model or a different model. I know it would look good with my Ecto-1 set.

Yeah, this one definitely had a post retirement bump that looks more like a mountain.

Now that I have the 21108 Ecto-1, which turned out to be phenomenal, I would love this set. But not at that price unfortunately.

The figs leaning forward with the packs on is pretty screen accurate

Have both boxed the Firehouse and Ecto 1. The firehouse weighs a lot, I feel alot of large box sets tend to bow out. Got my sets at rrp for around £330.

I'm a lucky guy! Got it two months ago (unopened box) for €650 and nothing broke.

I was able to get the Ecto-1 and kept hemming and hawing on the Firehouse because I just couldn’t justify the expense at the time.

On the Side, is the Pink Slime from Ghostbusters 2.

Yes, It's the pink slime that was breaking through from the sewers in Ghostbusters 2.

I had the Ghostbusters Firehouse when I was a little boy. I would have had loved to have had got the Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse.

Far from a bust and like the Model Team Giant Truck, I have been after this set but can’t bring my self to spend more than $500 on any Lego set no matter what. Even built used its like $400-450. Its a shame but makes the hunt that much more worth it. I need this in my collection!

I agree. There was one brief point where I had a job where I could buy pretty much any set I wanted, and it took a lot of the joy out of it. There's something about the hunt that makes having it better.

I just finished this set. The ooze is coming out of the sidewalk. The contaminated unit broke thru the roof

Yeah, I don't do any in-box collecting on purpose (but I do have a large "To-do" list for building.)

It’s amazing that in 2022 the Lion Nights Castle is only $400. Almost the same piece count and only $50 more after all the inflation we’ve seen post 2020.

Yeah, I'd be really curious how much of a set LEGO pays in licensing for something like the Ghostbusters sets.

I bought both sets when they came out. Both great sets. I built Ecto-1, but I don’t have space to build the Firehouse, because of spacing issues so it’s still MISB 😅

Kind of same story. I bought it but never got around to building it. Now here we are in 2023 and I don't want to open it because it's worth 3 times what I paid for it.

Hopefully we can get a remake it in 2026.

I pretty sure Venkman came with the ecto-1 kit without the slime. The ecto-1 is a must if you have this kit.

You could also get a slime free Venkman in the Lego Dimensions level pack, for what it's worth.

I’m still kicking myself kinda . It was between this set and the Marvel helicarrier & my son pick the helicarrier for Christmas.😢 should’ve got both damn it.

I also believe its time to re-release the ecto one with a speed champion set since they started now with 007 & fast and furious! I would gladly give even 50 for a renewed and a little bigger ecto one in small scale like i bought the aston martin! Also a new bttf delorean in the specific series after this lousy cuusoo which sell expensive like that would be a cherry on top!

The little Ecto One is virtually perfect. I highly doubt either it, or the firehouse will ever be remade. It's also unlikely they could improve upon it. I found both the car/set complete with boxes and instructions for $500 a few months ago!

I'm so gutted that I missed out on this set. I only really started buying Lego as an adult in 2020, a year or so after this set retired. Two years wasn't long enough. It's one of the all-time best Lego sets, but at the resell price, I don't see how I'll ever be able to get it. 😞

There is a "bootleg" set available marketed under the Lepin brand. I bought it for about $200 earlier this year and it appears identical to the Lego version apart from the spelling of the Ghostbusters' names on the lockers. They're slightly different, most likely to avoid copyright infringement. Normally, I steer clear of these knockoffs, but there was no way in Hades I was going to lay out $1000 for a Lego set on the scalper's market. In my opinion, the quality of the Lepin set is very good. It may be even better than the Lego set in that it doesn't have the issue of the cracking red bricks. Anyway. I don't know what your opinion is of buying knockoffs, but I definitely recommend it if you really want this awesome set.

Maybe buy the entire Lepin set, but purchase a few of the more specific/custom pieces via BrickLink etc. Like you, I don't generally care for knockoffs, but in this case it's probably the only viable option.

I've seen sticker sets for purchase online with the correct names. I haven't bothered replacing mine yet, but I probably will one day. What I really wish I could find is a movie accurate "• 8 • HOOK & LADDER • 8•" sticker to go over the front entrance. Even the Lego branded set doesn't have it.

@@wadechilds6671 $200 is a good price, assuming the Lepin bootleg of the Ghostbusters hasn't gone up since. I'm not too bothered about correcting anything that was an issue with respect to the original Lego set. IMHO, it's one of the best Lego sets. Period. I love all the details (especially the fact there are 3 beds, and it makes sense that not all 4 the Ghostbusters will be on duty at the same time, and a comprehensive bathroom). The only real issue is that the Ecto-1 can't fully fit. If I purchase the bootleg, I might have to bring the office desk back in order to fully fit the Ecto-1, should I eventually purchase the latter. But I will want to ensure that the bootleg is as accurate to the official Lego version as possible. I also appreciate what you're saying about the red bricks, and I like that this is a bit of a bonus/advantage with respect to the bootleg.

Damn I feel for you. I was able to get this because I got back into Lego around 2014 and started buying big sets in 2016 but I missed out on a few good themes like the original Toy Story line, the Pirates of the Caribbean theme and Indiana Jones

The set i freaking want like a crazy but im not sure if for a lego set worth to give that kind of cash,i serached on the web and the best prices i could find was 700+ opened! But with the this & that as extras from usa we go up again to 1000 so still not sure if it worth's all those cash! I think they over did it a little with this pricetag because its ghost busters,i wonder if home alone will reach those standards in the prices which i own,it allready gone up the price for 50! Its one of the grails i want allot!

Yeah, I agree that the fact that it's Ghostbusters helps it command such a high price. Keep hunting for this White Whale. :)

Accurate to the movie, the doors swing out. It's a shame they don't with the model, which would allow space for Ecto-1 with a little adjustment.

I regret not getting this one and as you’ve highlighted…. It’s now silly money sadly.

Nothing can justify a $1000 price tag. Not the minifigures, not the build experience, nothing. But the prices for these types of sets will just keep going up as people with discretionary income shamelessly buy these sets from "investors."

Chinese $146 it just takes a while to get here.

The problem that I generally have with the knockoff sets (not off brands like megablocks that make their own designs and pays licensing) is that they are stealing the designs and then also not paying licensing rights. To each their own, but doesn't feel right to me.

$1000 in the secondary market or $150 a perfect clone from China...not a cheap clone, a 1:1 quality set. Sometimes you just have to be judicious with your money, let the free market deal with the moral qualms...This loophole wont be there forever... Might as well take advantage of it... Oh, what a time to be alive!

You gotta stop asking if they’re worth what you’re paying now they’re never worth that. Just like a baseball card worth 100k will never be worth more than a piece of paper to a non collector.

Say it with me it’s a toy!!! You don’t need it to survive. If you missed it the first time that’s on you, someone who sells what they have and someone who is willing to pay it, it called supply and demand. Next time buy it or heck do what I do buy four,, keep one and sell the others to buy more toys!
