Kinda sad that young people don't know about Concorde. My Dad took me to the airport in Auckland in 1986 to see it - never forget it. Sadly a poorly maintained 1970's aircraft (a DC10) that dropped debris on the runway and caused a fatal accident that killed a lot of very rich people (and thus a lot of legal suits), plus the horrific fuel costs of running it brought it to an end.

@@RealTonyMontanaI've got 3 year old girl (and maybe this will have changed by the time she's interested and learning about things like aviation) and I can wait to feel how surreal it will be, telling her about Concorde. Like we USED to be able to cross the Atlantic in 3 hours. Now we can't. Like we went backwards or something. I know it's not quite that simple but still. For an aircraft designed in the 60s with pencils and slide rules to be our aviation magnum opus! Wild

this is like a UCS set almost, love it, even the price is very good! Nice to see Lego not money grabbing on this like some other sets lately. Landing gear is cool, and being able to manipulate it and move it around and it hold together is huge too, means itll be easy to hang from fishing line and not worry. The stand is also a huge step up for Lego and very nice
Hearing how you never heard of the Concorde, David, it hurt a little
How did you not know what Concorde was??? 😳😳😳 I do wish they'd included the pieces to have an option of having the undercarriage hidden if you're displaying it in flight.

I had a great time building this as well. This is the first set I've seen with orange "scaffolding" elements to help with keeping the build stable during construction. Also, having a length 8 axle sticking out of the back of this build for 200 straight steps until you remove it to put the tail on blew my mind. Lots of really great Lego engineering going on here, and the final result is just beautiful.
I really hope that the Concord does well. I bought the Shuttle and love it. I'd love to see them release a SR-71 Blackbird at somepoint.

also about the speed of concorde, like you mentioned, because it was faster than the earth's rotation, you could watch the sunset in london, fly to new york and watch the sunset again there.

I truly hope this begins an Icons sub-series with aircraft. Imagine a 747 in Lego form and the quality of this set.
As an airplane snob and a huge Lego fan. I’m not exaggerating when I say this may be my favorite set of all time.
One of my favourite childhood memories was looking up and seeing Concorde fly overhead after it had taken off from Heathrow... and to top it off, I was at Legoland!
Props to David for doing his homework here ❤
I always have found memories of it on what seemed to be every Sunday at about 4pm taking off from Heathrow Airport and it then flying over my parents house. My grandfather was an electronics engineer and part of the team that created the fly by wire system on the Concorde prototype. That and the TSR2. Both now sit next to eachother at Duxford Air Museum near London. He liked lego and he would have definitely liked this.
I love how you did some real research about the plane prior to making the video it makes me super happy as an avgeek myself to see lego making one of the most iconic and one of my favorite planes.

I’ve seen three static Concorde exhibits. Two prototype liveries in Yeovilton, Duxford & a BA Corcorde in Filton U.K. without doubt an incredible aeroplane. Just so beautiful. Well done Lego for going with the prototype livery. 👌🏻
5:42 holy crap, that's one huge set. Didn't have a good impression until I saw that side by side.
My grandad was a director at Manchester airport(at the time the ringway). When the Concorde flew there his office had the perfect view from where the Concorde pulled up. Can’t wait to get this.
So stoked about this model, my only complaint is that it doesn’t allow you to have the classic British Airways or Air France liveries on it!

I'm getting this set soon. I'm glad Lego to doing Real Commercial planes. I plan to make a personal LEGO plane museum in my house to fill these sets with.
Can't wait to have that set. Only thing is now. We need a red arrow stunt jet to have them in formation on the shelf 😅
I’m so very glad you did your research on the Concorde and weren’t lazy like other you tubers. This vid is certified aviation enthusiast approved
This looks like a MOC. It’s so clean and smooth.
My grandparents flew on a Concorde. They were sad to see it go. I showed my grandma the lego set, and she was amazed about how it looked so much like it.
As a Concorde pilot in training I love it! great set! There will never be another one like it! ---- NO Bumps NO Bangs Concorde!
In 1999 I was one of the kids that paraded through Edinburgh to celebrate the opening of the Scottish Parliament. The highlight was having Concorde fly overhead at 1k ft flanked by the Red Arrows. Of course, in the days before camera phones so I didn’t get a video.
What a fantastic set! Can not wait till next week when this set gets released as this is the one I've been waiting for in '23!
Having been on, in, and around two separate concord planes, this model is so beautiful, and very very accurate
This is the second lego set I'm going to buy. (since I don't really care about mini figs, play sets, etc...) The first was the Titanic. They both feel to me like they have that presence when you walk into a room and they're there. Love it.
Awesome review, I love this set! Definitely going to pick it up this Christmas!
I usually don’t like how high Lego sets have been (though their design quality has certainly improved in the past year or two) but this is a set I’d definitely pick up for its price this is close to the type of detail you’d get from an actual plastic model but built in Lego I do wish it can with a a pilot and co pilot mini figure just for display
yesss i’ve been waiting for your review (i’m an avgeek so i’m definitely picking this up, possibly even 2)
"Until I did a little bit of research" AKA Aaron fangirling all over this thing 😂😊 Great review David!!
I can't unsee the missing cockpit window, especially when they managed to model the protruding section of the fuselage underneath the windows so well.

been waiting for a quality aircraft build! will definitely get this one!
I grew up on Long Island in the 80s, and I remember that often during the summers, among the other planes flying over on their way from europe to JFK or LaGuardia, you would occasionally see a Concorde flying over. :D
I loved planes growing up, and would make countless paper airplanes (I even made 100 for a class project alone!). This certainly looks like something I might gift myself this Christmas. Lego's art designers did a wonderful time capturing its silhouette, and the engineers on this project did a perfect time taking the artists' work and making a beautiful and solid brick build.
I remeber going to rhe Boeing museum of flight with my dad and every time we go we have to check out the Concorde they have. What a magnificent aircraft
Yo what a Concorde set?! Its so sick

Love this set and it’s huge
I have been excited about this set since it was announced, can’t wait for it to be released. I have been in the aviation industry for 36 years and remember the last flight….
This is probably one of those sets that I learn history from. I never knew what the concorde was until I saw the set.
Id love to see them take on other jets like the 747, a340, a350 etc
Great video and when is the live builds will start me and my kids miss those videos always looking for new videos 👍👍
I will be receiving this set soon and hope that LEGO produces a SR-71 in a similar form factor.
I will definitely be taking an informal poll amongst my peeps to find out if they know of this aircraft. I recall that the French designer Andrée Putman “she leads with her legs” designed the interior. Have you ever heard a sonic boom overhead? Awesome
I think it looks amazing. Almost 100% smooth. Only thing that I’m turned off by is the cockpit area. Just a little lacking compared to the rest of the jet. Would have upgraded this to perfection with a custom molded piece that would have fit better. That’s a knit picking. Not big into planes but could see myself buying it.
Defo buying this thanks 🙏
You know it's a good day when Solid Brix Studios uploads a new video
Very nice set
Sad that it's so unknown. My father was fortunate enough to fly in one, he said he would never forget it. Unfortunately, due to fatal accidents and fuel costs, it was shut down. Such a cool plane, never gonna forget watching my dad take off in one.

A fatal accident* from what i remember there was only one crash on take off that was catastrophic and even that had nothing to do with the actual plane.. something got stuck in the landing gear which ignited and the flames spread to the fuselage which caused it to explode, if i remember correctly, i was a huge concord nerd but like 20 something years ago

@@laupoke Crashed into a hotel just after takeoff in 2000. Among the things I remember from news of the crash is a photo of the flaming Concorde just after liftoff, and the footage shot by a man driving down a parallel road seeing its doomed flight. That was the only fatal accident it had, though there were numerous incidents involving burst tires for decades beforehand. That was one of the straws that broke the camel's back; the other big one was 9/11, because many of the victims also would've flown on the Concorde regularly. The last one was simply higher fuel prices, and improvements in business and telecommunications made it obsolete.
@Gameflyer001

@@matijakokovic2681 it was a strip of metal from the engine of a Continental DC-10 that somehow ended up on the runway. The tire ran it over, instantly puncturing it and causing a sizable chunk to impact the wing, igniting the fuel due to the shock of the hit.
