Lego Battle of Rorke's Drift - Zulu stop motion
Ойын-сауық
on January 22, 1879, shortly after the British were severely
defeated at the battle of Isandlwana, about 3,000 Zulus
attacked just over 150 British troops that were encamped at
Rorke's Drift.
Due to better weapons and preconstructed defenses, the
British were able to hold off the Zulus for almost 10 hours.
The Zulus would have been able to defeat the British, but
decided to withdraw their attacks since it was becoming too
costly.

Fun fact, one of the veterans of this battle, Colour Sergeant Frank Bourne, served in the First World War too as an Adjutant. He was also the last veteran until his death in May 1945.

Hello
The barrel falling over and breaking, the Leto flame used in the shot from the gun inside the house, and the dust after a bullet hit the ground in front of those natives were all such incredible details and so insanely clever I just can’t believe it. They gotta put you on the next lego movie dude.
Having visited the real Rorkes Drift Mission Station, I can tell you this is a damn fine representation. The movie Zulu, was filmed 90 miles away in the Royal Natal National Park in the Drakensburg mountains.

Well the Zulus also withdrew because 1. They were never supposed to attack them in the first place (since the Zulu king wanted it to seem a completely defensive war, and not attack areas controlled by the British like Rorke’s Drift) 2. Incoming British reinforcements from the British army that wasn’t at Isadwana.

@@masteryoda7207 I think the awarding of those medals was meant to reflect and acknowledge the courage and bravery those men showed against overwhelming odds, rather than the moral validity of their presence there in the first place. Army's don't make policy, they simply go where they're told.

@CMDRGreyWolfe
3 жыл бұрын
@@masteryoda7207 For sure, there's no reason why you can't have a discussion over something. The British army did have superior training and equipment, but the Zulu army also had plenty of organisation and fighting experience so they were an enemy to be taken seriously, despite their simple weapons. Rorke's Drift was a tiny outpost manned by only 150 troops and was descended on by 3000 - 4000 Zulu warriors so the odds were overwhelming. Those soldiers would have also been well aware that the same Zulu army had just delivered a savage defeat on the British Army at Isandlwana only a few days before killing 1800 soldiers.

More likely to sing, “sh*t on the villa” as in 1879 B coy, 2nd Batt, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regt were defending Rorke’s Drift. There were some Welsh there, but as many Irish, English and some Scots as was typical of the British army in 19th Century. Regimental March, ‘The Warwickshire Lad’. However, I’m sure in a fight to the death outnumbered 20-1 a sing-song was not really feasible. Good artistic licence for the most excellent movie, Zulu.
