Lego 7824 Railway Station unboxing and review

A review of the 7824. This large station was released in 1983 as the successor to 7822, and was available until the end of the 12V Grey Era (1980-1993) and was discontinued in 1983. I'm very happy to own this set boxed. I hope you enjoy the review! This set will be featured in the next layout, layout 15.

7824 is a lovely station, much nicer than more modern lego stations available since they produced 7824

Great set and review! This set reminds me of the newest 60335 station a little bit, but this one is definitely cooler!

Nice review! In my opinion this set is much better set than 7822 which to me looks too plain and boring. If I’ll get 7740 my next purchase will definitely be 7824.

Thanks! 7824 is definitely a little more modern.

My favorite Railway station, I even have 2 copies of this set (no box). One built and I plan to build the alternate version (only exist as a picture) of the second set. The 2nd set I bought even have the closed stud hinges for the roof.

Nice! The closed stud copies are rarer, those are from the earlier runs (83-85ish).

I definitely appreciate the image of the referenced set 7822, it saves me from having to google it myself. If the burden isn't too great on the editing side, more of that would be nice. Keep up the good work

Thank you! Glad you noticed, I like to do that because most people aren't super familiar with set numbers.

Another cracking video. I have this set from my childhood. I was a late bloomer with the 12v, getting the 7745 for Christmas one year and then the above and few other bits including 7866, 7823 and 7839 but no more trains as they stopped selling them shortly after. During the pandemic I started to build out my original collection and now have all the 12v trains and the other stations, crossings, rolling stock and the early battery trans too. I am currently building a large 12v layout in my storage unit as I do not have room at home and would welcome your feedback/advice and hints and tips. I might put some of the footage on KZread to share with the wider 12v community but you do such an amazing job of reviewing the 12v sets that there isn't much I can really contribute other than showing the trains and layout. I am based in the UK and have acquired my 12v sets through a combination of eBAY, Bricklink and some I have built from scratch by sourcing the parts because some are very difficult to get hold of or people are selling them for too much money. Appreciate any feedback and support you can offer. Keep the videos coming. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Thanks so much for the kind comment! Awesome story! What can I offer advice on specifically for your layout?

I have no memory of this set, so I think I must've lost interest in the train sets just as it came out! I definitely remember the earlier set you showed, although I never had it. I can't really criticise anything about this set, but I definitely prefer the look of the earlier one. I don't know if that's because of vague nostalgia, a feeling that the earlier set looks like it gives you more "stuff", or its similarity to train stations that I was aware of as a kid!

I honestly like the earlier one (7822) as well, just because of the double platform and bridge design!

Hi! I saw your videos, you have a good start! I think my advice to you would be to show your entire layout with the trains running on them, and if you can, get some more remote accessories. You could also do in-depth reviews explaining each of your MOCs if you'd like.
