LEGO 10277 Crocodile Locomotive Power Functions & BuWizz upgrade

Ғылым және технология

The LEGO 10277 Crocodile Locomotive has official motorization instuctions with Powered Up components. As many of us still have mostly Power Functions parts, I tested the locomotive with the following components:
- Power Functions AAA Battery Box (88000) or Rechargeable Battery Box (8878)
- Power Functions IR reciever (8884)
- Power Functions IR remote (8885) or IR Speed remote (8879)
- Power Functions Medium Motor (8883)
- Power Functions Large Motor (88003)
- BuWizz unit - racingbrick.com/buwizz

    BuzWizz box is nice but it is a quite expensive option at 129 Euros or $150 US. I think it is better to make some modifications to the train and use the older components.

    There is an awesome Lego Via Rail that needs support on Lego Ideas. It might be turned into a Lego set that you can buy. It can be motorized with Lego Powered Up. It comes with a baggage car that can store canoes, a sleeping car with a lot play features, and a dome car with a lot of play features. I really want this train to achieve support and be turned into a Lego set.

    Great video! :) The BuWizz unit seems to be great! Nevertheless, one "problem" isn`t solved: the force to use the mobile phone. If my trains are running, I didn`t want to use my phone... Therefore a very simple remote control is better - in my eyes...

  • @RacingBrick

    @RacingBrick

    You need to restructure the roof with the SBrick as well, the top of the SBrick with the PF connector will sit higher than the PF connector on the battery box.

  • @danielsala81

    @danielsala81

    @@RacingBrick i have a sbrick and you can put the PF connector cable for the battery box on the bottom of the sbrick (there is one connector there + 4 on the top) meaning it will stay at the bottom of the train and not near the roof. The top of the sbrick is in a stair shape so you can connect the medium or large motor's PF connector to one of the lowest of the 2, it will not stick out. The Sbrick is the same size as the WuBizz in term of height, except it's a square and not a rectagle, so you cut the lenght in half (for managing the cable beside it)

    @@danielsala81 great concept, and where do you put the battery box and the motor? You know, unlike BuWizz SBrick actually requires a separate power source.

  • @danielsala81

    @@RacingBrick the battery box goes to one side of the train (left in your video) and the sbrick next to it, to the right (where you put the PF infrared receiver in the video, but more to the right and lower. I guess the motor is under those 2. i don't have this set yet but willing to get it when it comes out (in 2-3 days). Also, you can not modify one of the 2 other trains just to put the S-brick/receiver/battery box ? I have the winter village train and there, you put the battery box on a separate wagon (you will see the cable going between the 2, i know). BTW, I am also from Hungary, but live in Canada now :) Excellent videos.

  • @RacingBrick

    @RacingBrick

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! Actually you cannot put the SBrick lower on the other side. Left side is "full" with the Battery box, same situation on the other side with the motor, the SBrick can only sit on the top of the motor. It is not as high as the IR reciever but still reaches the top edge of the sides, so you cannot insert the roof between the two sides. The 2 end sections are only 5 stud wide so you cannot fit the 4 stud wide SBrick between the sides there. Obviously anything can be fitted but not without a bigger redesign.

    I did not forget it, but that one also requires a modification of the roof for 2 reasons - you need to stick to the AAA battery box meaning the PF connector on that is already interfering with the roof, and if you put the SBrick on top of the motor then again the top will be at the same level as the tiles on the side of the car so that means even bigger modifications for the roof.
