Man, wouldn't it be great if GW just shipped the models out and put the rules out as a free PDF as a show of apology for their loyal fan base. That way people can just play the game and have fun.

Best solution. When they had to reprint, just keep the loss. Do the update as a PDF. Ship the models. Since we have already waited add more to the box set. To fill the space.

My understanding is that it is not simply slightly offensive (assuming it was the wording used in a particular scenario) the problem was that the wording would potentially have prevented the sale of Legion Imperialis main rules in Germany, where the use of that specific term in (non-educational) books for retail sale is prevented by law. If true (and I am by no means certain) then the reprint was pretty much a necessity. As for the delay, well I will wait and plan my Salamanders along with allied Legions, Titans and Auxilla.

The problem GW has is they have priced things so ludicrous that a 3D printer easily pays for itself. I printed a 50 terminator with storm shield list for Horus heresy it would be $2300.00 if I bought it retail. For less than $100 in resin. An epic drop pod is like 12 cents.

My problem is that we can't get ahold of items that were already released and compatible. Titanicus is an actual game, and everything but warmasters are rare as hens teeth. I'd be a little less annoyed if they would have continued to supply the compatible games. As such, I'll have to go to other means. I get that they didn't plan for this, but once they knew they were going to have to pivot they could have continued supplying the at starter set at least. It's not branded legions imperialis, it's adeptus titanicus. Yeah, they are compatible models, but I'd be playing AT instead right now and painting titans.

GW is a shit show in general. I want a Land Raider Redeemer for my 40K marines, can I buy one? Nope. And there are plenty of other things they just can't keep in stock. I mean how can you literally keep NOTHING in stock that people actually want to buy? I feel like investors are totally oblivious to this lost potential. Are even we getting the things we need/want for 28mm Heresy? Nope. Can you find anything on their new site? Nope, they thought launching it before it actually worked was a good idea. The last year of GW operations has just heavily driven me to 3D printing.

For sure. A few months ago I wanted the Baal predator, when it finally came back into stock I ordered it two days later. Two weeks later I got an email saying my order is cancelled due to being out of stock. Three weeks later it came back into stock again…. hopefully maybe the bright side of the terrible new website is that the new ordering/stock management backend is less bad?

Exaclty. I'll give you another example of GW incompetance, the Audio Book for End and the Death Part II is missing half the files for Part Eight: the climax of the book! Still waiting to hear back from black library from when they are going to fix the download, they have confirmed the problesm their end. Of course I had to pay to find this out, now I dont have the full book and am stuck dodging spoilers, it spoiled the weekend I had set aside for listening to get near the end of the book sunday afternoon and realise only half of its there!

The reason the delay has killed a lot of the hype for the game is because of cost. Everyone knows this game isn't going to be cheap, and many people will need to save and budget to afford games like this. People were saving and budgeting for LI back in August. And then it gets delayed... So then you have people who have saved and budgeted for an expensive new game that isn't coming. They can either sit on all that money for some indefinite period of time, or they can spend it on other stuff. And most will just spend it on other stuff.

I think the christmas boxes might be a competition for most peoples "big box" purchase in December. (Atleast this is true for me) Also i saw that the stocks of adeptus titanicus and aeronautica models vanished over the last weeks. My bet is that many people brought in these models just to start their collection this way.

Funnily enough that's how I went for AT, I bought a Warlord then tried to buy the starter set for a basic maniple but waited over 2 months for the box with no sign of a restock. In the end I started a game from Mantic and just had some fun that way.

I just finished 3D printing the blood angels side of the battle report and started printing terrain. Guess I'll have a fully painted 3000pt and a full board of terrain before the game even comes out.

On the warhammer community article last thursday (November 2nd) about the Stormhammer it says "Come back next week for another edition of Heresy Thursday, as we approach the release of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy - Legions Imperialis and uncover more lost technology from the Age of Darkness." So to me it reads like it definitely will release in a couple of weeks at most.

I'm currently working on making my first gameboard in preperation for Legions. Super excited to play some Elysian Drop trooper esc Solar Auxillia when the game eventually drops. Thank you for the great coverage on Legions so far btw, has been really helpful for staying up to date.

Same, idk how Briar just assumes it wont come out by Dec based on nothing substantial. It hasnt been delayed again, we just dont know when it'll come out. It could be for preorder by the end of next week, or Dec 2024. Nobody knows, people are putting on pessimistic Tin Hats, and getting disappointed a second time even though its been clear since the initial delay that we dont know when It will be out.

What was the supposedly offensive line?

Just wish they’d been a bit more transparent (eg the expansion book was announced via white dwarf- why not address it in an article?) and they’d re-release Titanicus and Aeronautica stuff, surely that doesn’t need delaying due to the rulebook. Just slap a sticker on the box saying that it’s compatible with the upcoming LI game. Plus it has messed with my hobby budget for months, and even more so with the Christmas boxes. GW’s obsession with hiding information from customers just breeds resentment when openness would breed trust.

I've been waiting to get into Adeptus Titanicus but I can't until Legions Imperialis releases. It's really annoying.

I love these smaller scale models, it's a great fit for combined arms battles. If this games out soon, great! If not, business as usual. As you mentioned, I've got plenty of other rule sets around this scale. Since Battletech was shown, that one also has rules for combined arms. It's a cool way to play but you need to be really familiar with the rules to keep it moving quickly. For fast playing combined arms, C.A.V. 1st edition feels good. Polyversal is a newer set that really impressed me as well. For an older rule set, Dirtside II is still pretty good.

Reading between the lines, if what you say about the reason for the delay is right, then I think that makes sense and was likely the right thing to do. But that still leaves GW and potential collectors/gamers in a very bad place and I think much of the frustration is logical and indeed justified. And of course, GW haven't helped themselves. I suspect many of us have been waiting for a new Epic for many years - certainly since Adeptus Titanicus came out and when Aeronautica was launched in the same scale I think we considered it a when, not an if. However, GW's record on supporting smaller games is mixed, to put it politely. I think we have reason to worry that the cost of this new game could have a very chilling effect on takeup. Delays that cause further reductions in the number of people likely to get into the game risk it being dead in the water. We want the game (and the miniatures!) to be a success. While some things are out of GW's hands, not everything is. Poor communications, expensive pricing, etc. Splitting core units out from the main list so that people have to buy the army list piecemeal across supplements... All of these things add up to make it more and more likely that the game will be a commercial failure and end up being dropped. Sometimes GW are too greedy, monopolistic and insulated for their own good.

They’ve shot themselves in the foot. I had planned to buy at least two starter boxes. Since August I have mustered three HH armies through 3D printing online sources. I will now only buy the rule book.

It seems quite a lot of people had the same idea. In my country nearly all models for titanica and aeronautica are sild out. You could see the past days how fast the stock did vanish.

I'll be taking this time to build a desk so I can have a permanent hobby setup.

So many folk, many of them fully grown adults, getting mad over a delay in their tiny marines is a hell of a sad thing

I was mostly just interested in doing titans anyway (because 28mm titans are expensive lol) so I mostly just wanted the rules and maybe some tanks to try it out. Once I have the proper minis in hand to make sure my 3d printer is doing them the right size I was probably going to 3d print some other armor marks because Iron Warriors don't need beakies. But delays don't seem like that big a deal compared to GWs business practices and lackluster support for specialist games that aren't necromunda.

I was just going to buy it. But with all the delays, 3D printer goes brrrrrr 🤷‍♂️

Every week delay the people will print more 3d models.

People just love negativity.. Its become the normal outlook of life. Things happen, just accept it. Yeah its bad news but, wow worse things in life than a product delay. Great vid though bud.

Thanks! I try to respect people's frustration while having a more balanced approach to my musings.

This game was unfortunately going to be DOA in most areas anyway. People didn't play the Titan game.. or the plane game. And with the dumpster fire that 10th Ed is (now 11th after "Balance Data Slate" rewrote the game) and Sigmar being in the "blow up this edition" phase with the Salesbringer - I mean Dawnbringer Crusades, I'm just not playing GW anymore. One of my groups is switching to One Page Rules. Playing Crisis Protocol in another. Another group has been boardgames for the last 3 years. Going to try One Page Rules with them because they want something else to use their mothballed GW armies in.

I'm in a similar boat... 10th was so terrible that I'm staying with 9th edition 40k until I get round to reviving and expanding 4th, as well as getting into Heresy (mostly 1st edition, but I'll make my Emperor's Children 2.0 compatible, too).

I'm curious as to why you feel a 2025 release would be likely? I have to imagine that if everything was originally set to go for summer/fall of 2023, even a large problem could be corrected in 6-8 months? (n/m just got to the end of the video!)

I was really excited when it was announced. Now I’m starting to lose interest. Makes me uncomfortable on their commitment to the game now. Not sure if I want to commit my hobby money to it.

This would be a perfect time to release a digital rule set. The new rulebooks are taking forever to produce and repack. Just cut the retail by 40\50usd and have the rulebook be digital on release.

You kind of ignored the fact that the video included in this recent article says the release will happen this year.

Other than 3d printing one thing to suggest to people who are waiting for LI are 3rd party manufactureres of minis in that Epic scale. For example Vanguard Miniatures vehicles may not fit the Legions Imperialis/Adeptus Titanicus scale that well, but if someone wants to proxy Solar Auxilia waiting for rules for Imperial Militia (of which I am not sure if we can expect from LI) then they have quite a range of infantry to choose from that shouldn't really cause any issue scale-wise.

Ans of what to do: play titanicus, save money for it.

Personally, I have moved on to preparing for Old World. Not out of spite or anything, but there's hobbying to be done there, and that takes time. I will still look at Legions when it comes out, but I think the game has definitely missed its sweet point. There is only so much time and money budget you can allocate to your hobby 🤷‍♂️

I will bet on a pre-order for the weekend of November 18 or 25

I feel people love to say GW is greedy, but people will straight up ignore it when that want to make money means they clearly aren’t intentionally doing something.

People love to hate and in the hobby many just lash out at nothing. It's not 2025 lol I went for my own company called the Tangemarines

I don't believe it was the "phrase" which is pretty generic until you google it lol. I heard the book was full of mistakes and errors and I believe it. People should chill out, when the game is done the game is done but according to all the rumours this game is just not going to be affordable so it's basically dead on arrival no matter when it drops. That's on GW.

It's all communication. GW are excellent at ramping up the hype train but if for some reason it goes wrong, they get derailed pretty fast. Instead of getting honest with the community who are excited for the game to return officially at this scale, they keep drip feeding the hype style posts. They sort of like to pretend that nothing's really wrong, when in reality I think it'd go a long way with the community to get honest with people and tell them when they hope the game will be coming out. I just think there was such an excitement for an official game at this scale returning, but GWs mismanagement and radio silence on it risks killing whatever hype there is.

I had no idea till you mentioned Aeronautica being hard to come by that GW had canned the game... I love the sculpts and was working on some Eldar fliers but I guess I can't get anymore from GW. Puts me off starting a game like LI if GW are just going to drop it in a few years anyway.

@@blackbriargaming5483 when it first came out, I hated third cause they nerfed my tactical squads. You used to be able to take 2 heavy weapons, or 2 special weapons, or one of each. Then third changed it to one of each. I miss my double heavy bolter squads. But I'd take 3rd over 10th in a heartbeat.

Meanwhile they’re trying to pedal their $300 dollar overpriced Christmas box sets.

Not that bothered with the delay - it's literally only a tabletop game, no rush. I think GW have made worse decisions with it that'll kill it off either way.

i dont think that 3d printing is that big in europe. The prices here are better and i dont know anyone who owns a printer. Its a hobby on its own and too much of a hazzle to get into if you only want to buy and build a box every other month.

If the delay is over some woke cluster B histrionic bullshit then GeeDubs deserves to go broke. There are a lot things I am willing to tolerate from a business but caving to pressure from anti social, bipolar narcissists is not among them.

Eh. I'm painting a 3D Printed Thunderhawk at the moment. A bought one. Not one I did myself. It looks pretty different from an actual TH. The details get a bit loose, and the print quality isn't fabulous, especially underneath. There's also print lines and some random holes 😅 I know 3D printing can do wonders. But it's also a roll of the dice sometimes. Especially for those buying the prints from 3rd party printers.

Its the constant carrot hanging in-front of our noses with no end goal in sight (nearly every heresy Thursday since the delay), the fact we were given a timeframe so we could save and plan for it to be ripped away at the last second (IIRC it was in a Sunday preview) and then for months having nothing but a shoulder shrug 🤷🏼‍♂️ whenever asked about a new timeframe. Also things like some of the units not being in the core book but instead being in a later campaign book meaning some people will miss out on certain things till they can manage to get the book, if they follow titanicus there’ll even be a new book with everything in it 3 months down the line Some of your own videos convinced some of my group not to bother anymore as well.
