Hello, I just wanted to put out there my thanks for this video. The Legion Go, and PC/Handheld gaming is very new to me, and all this talk about ripping out the stock SSD to replace with a new, cloned SSD felt like a few leaps too far for me. I am in no way an expert in this area. I have a basic working knowledge of most things in the PC world, but I have never attempted to fix or replace any sort of component's on any of my systems. Your video has changed that, and broken that fear of touching the internals of my systems. Thank you for the easy to follow breakdown of steps to complete this process, which in the long run will save me time, and money being that I would have either stuck with the SD Card option, paying above the odds for a slower read/write, or ended up paying a techy person to do this all for me.

How has the heat been with AAA+ games now you have been using for a couple of weeks?

Pretty good actually I’ve been running Spider-Man remastered on it and Mortal Kombat 1 with very little issue. I have the thermal on performance the whole time anyway. Rather it be noisy and stay cool than thermal throttle. But not noticed any major issues to date.

That 2230 ssd will it overheat ? I really wish you can make video that can test the ssd temp. Great video anyway. I didnt know you can use 2230. I read some on reddit, people experienced overheat on that ssd. So im kinda confuse here and there.

No over heating for me so far I can monitor it with software tools. Most of the overheat issues I’ve seen with portable gaming solutions this far is when people have found ways to jerry rig a 2280 sized nvme drive in our used that combination with a gen 4 drive

@@ExpressITTechTips so you say 2230 is good to use in lego and 2280 can possibly cause over heating in the device ?

How is performance when the drive is filled +600gb? Read and write speeds will drop considerably, but I wanted to know how much this will affect its use when operating. Many thanks

For gaming you won’t notice a massive difference even with task management and standard operation this amount is fairly negligible these days it’s not like days of spinny disks

Unfortunately, you missed something installing a new SSD to the legion.-the thing on the old SDD is a magnetic cover. So you need to use this magnetic cover on your new SSD. Because SSD is affected magnetic things. For example SSD writing or reading speed will be unstable every time while windows working. I think, you need to use this magnetic cover on your SSD. Because I also made the same issue on my legion go :D

I covered that off in the video I’ve noticed no issues with it off so far to be honest. Some people have had heat issues if it’s re-applied so it will depend on the experience you get with the drive. With mine the read and write are stable

Mainly price and availability, I’ve found since the steam deck was released the 2230 can usually be had for better value than the 2242. I imagine that will change soon though when manufacturers go after legion go markets

It is cheaper to get a 2242 2tb ssd though. £140 on on amazon (£125 on ebay) vs 2230 £170 for 2tb of strage on amazon (£150 on ebay).
