Legion Go Performance Review, This FAST Hand-Held Has An Edge Over The Rest

The Lenovo Legion Go is a new handheld gaming console that promises to deliver powerful performance in a portable package. But how does it actually perform in real-world use? In this video, I'll be putting the Legion Go through its paces to see how it handles a variety of popular games and we also run some genchmarks on the Lenovo Legion Go
benchmark. Overall, I'm very impressed with the performance of the Lenovo Legion Go. It's one of the most powerful handheld gaming consoles that I've ever used, and it's able to handle even the most demanding games with ease.

    The issue is resolution, from other clips it appears the legion Go is doing within 2 fps of the Ally but running at 1200p rather than 1080! Same chip, just faster ram. At 1080p the Go would be around 3-6 fps faster, but with the display resolution being 1600p it scales to 1200p rather than 1080. Most games can force windowed to 1080p to try and match, but quite a few just don't like it so keep that in mind when asking for certain games. Just know this is the best performing handheld to date, and hope we get a 40hz preset in the quick menu!

    @@noir-13what I want to actually see the most. Would be battery life you can get out of it while retaining performance in the 30 to 40 fps range. IE do custom sub 10W power profiles actually work in the same way they do on the Deck as a serious battery life extender.

    We gamers are eating good this year. All the games that came out this year. Then we got stuff like the ROG Ally and now This. I already have the Steam Deck, but it will be nice to get a hold on one of these. Granted these windows hand-helds can't beat Steam OS in terms of integration, but man that raw power performance is something; especially running MK1 at 60fps.

    I'm more worried about the future. While a lot of games came out, a lot of unnecessary layoffs happened too, along with "necessary" layoffs that shouldn't have become necessary in the first place. The industry is gonna lose a lot of talent and the executives are gonna try to replace them with insufficient AI systems. A big crash in AAA is coming. It's not quite inevitable, but the C-Suite people aren't willing to do a thing to prevent it. So hopefully it comes sooner rather than later. And hopefully the next wave of top-tier game development manages to not be so... well... modern capitalist.

    What would interest me personally, is more details on the screen: 1. Is it a big issue that the screen doesn't support FreeSync? BTW, is it possible to turn it on when connected to a supported external display? 2. Does native 1600p display help the image clarity when downscaling to 800p, making it 2x pixel perfect, or it doesn't matter much on such a small display? And yeah, comparison benchmarks would help a lot!

No detachable controller Asus looks great but wasn’t that much bigger than my phone with a back bone controller. I wanted detachable controllers for flights and casual gaming. Needs a track pad for windows nav. Has a better screen, bigger screen, detachable controllers like the switch but MUCH better joysticks and a track pad. Everything you’d want at that price point considering it’s a much better purchase than the deck. I’m excited to get mine. Maybe I’ll get it for myself for Christmas

I mean think about it, you still need a flat semi spacious space to use it right ? Hey, thanks for the review. If I can give some feedback, as I didn't really find this video to be super helpful. This review really only showed good things about the LLG, but there were no cons, critiques, or anything of that sort. I really am weary of reviews where the product is just showed as being perfect and then affiliate links are pushed at the end. Doesn't give me any confidence in the reviewer. Especially because there are so few reviews of this thing out due to Lenovo's dumbass embargo, it was disappointing to watch this video and see very little in the way of criticisms. It would be nice in your next video to see: - pros and cons summary at the end - addressing the portrait mode issue with older games - the weight of the device and comfort, especially for people who don't have giant hands - the unfinished areas of Legion Space - any bloatware that is included with the device - real applications of the buttons in game, ie the trackpad in RTS, dpad in platformers and fighters (you used the analog stick lol), sensitivity of the triggers, feel of the buttons

  • @etchieSketchie

    I am thoroughly disappointed that the screen is 144hz. Because 120hz is objectively better for handhelds. Since we can only achieve butter-smooth frame pacing when the FPS is an exact division of the refresh rate, this means the Legion Go can only get smooth pacing at 72, 48, and 36 fps. If the screen were 120hz, we’d instead have smooth pacing at 60, 40, and 30fps, which are more standard and support emulation a lot better. 120hz would’ve been perfect and we wouldn’t even need to switch to 60hz manually. 120hz would also mean it wouldn’t be necessary to have per-game refresh rate settings. Just lock the fps in-game to 30, 40, or 60 and that’s it. What a HUGE missed opportunity by Lenovo.

  • @Genera1B1um
    @Genera1B1um7 ай бұрын

    Having both Rog and Legion Go most of KZreadrs miss few things. - Legion Go is substantially heavier and it is hard to hold it one handed - Legion Go software has some positive like setting exact custom TDP like Steam Deck but overall functionally is much more clunky than Rog software. It does not use helper to be run on the background it has to load full screen. I guess Lenovo wanted to mimic Steam OS but it is not that helpful. - The entire Legion Go UI is not well optimized and it is very lagging in the current form. Despite faster memory. - Legion Go is weirdly quiet with headphones. Have to crank up sound to 100 to hear anything from the speakers. - To pull up quick menu to change the TDP you have to press right button 3x times, the first click is the left shortcut menu for last opened games - Lenovo Go UI looks a bit like from 1990s PC game. -1600p screen 16:10 creates a lot of issues using things like Moonlight for local game streaming of all the DLSS 3.5 ray trace goodness - Even at the same 10 watt TDP and same resolution Legion Go pushes less frame than Rog on Wargroove 2. - Legion Go definitely shows a need for 5090 because 1600p at 144hz is not happening on 4090 for local game streaming - The lack of VRR makes Rog feel much much smoother. There are some massive spikes in frame graph. - It is much harder to force gamepad on Lenovo Go than on Rog so you might be fiddling with options a lot unnecessarily - Turning off led does not turn off power led on Legion Go which is so weird for those playing at night. - I do like the larger screen of Legion Go and some of FPS functionality - I have a lot of issue with Bluetooth on Rog Ally it looks much more stable on Legion Go Overall hardware is interesting minus the weight but software massively holds it back. If you have Rog stick with Rog If you consider Rog and Legion Go I think you will have much better experience with Rog in the current state.
