Legion (2010) Story + Ending EXPLAINED

Ойын-сауық

In today's video, I go in depth into the 2010 horror/fantasy adventure of "Legion". Much like my last explained video of "Knowing" this movie has a lot of religious tones to it and symbolism that we will explore throughout the video! Hope you guys enjoy! :)

I was reading one theory where God didn’t necessarily change His mind, rather, He was putting His angels to the test to see if they were loyal to Him no matter His decisions, or if the angels were loyal to His teachings/preachings. What do you think of this take? I really liked your explanation though, very insightful! Newly subscribed!!

I definitely agree with that! It's just like here with our own lives, we are tested to see if we will be loyal and sometimes it seems he's changed his mind or something but in all actually things just work out the way they are supposed to. God knows everything and what will happen and his knowledge surpasses our own. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and definitely let me know if there's a movie you'd like me to delve into :)

Gabriel did what God asked of him, Michael did what God needed from him. This is used in a quote towards the end of the film. I felt this was the most powerful message.

One can expand on that as an analogy for following the letter of the law (Gabriel) over the spirit (Michael). Blind obedient action is worth less than being good at heart.

God's all-knowing, and Satan has to be aware of this, what with him being the former right hand of God. Because of his omniscient nature, there was no reason for God to prove anything to Satan in the first place. Christian lore is fucked up, but very interesting.

You were doing good till the end. The line you gave him what he asked for, I gave him what he needed, was absolute perfection and my favorite part. The test in the movie symbolizes a redemption and a test of faith not just to the humans but the angels as well. Like orders given from a general to test the true nature of their soldiers, if one was testing their morality. Mindlessly follow orders or make decisions based on what's right.

I would not like to follow a general that plays like this. If he is my general, he has my obedience. If I am to doubt his every order, mutiny would surely follow. That is the reason for Abraham being tested. His obedience was tested, and he was rewarded. God would not discipline angels for obedience. God has never disciplined for obedience.

It's presented as Joseph contemplating his new, and unwanted role. He loved Mary. He just wanted to be married, have children, do his work and provide for his family, be a member of his community. Now that's all gone. He will be faithful to God's command, but everything he wanted is just a mist.

Great summary. My take on this was from hints in the dialog. Michael gives hints like "the last time he sent a flood, this time its something else." This reminds us of the flood story which did not kill all humanity but rather the majority, allowing the survivors to start fresh. Then Michael says the child is the hope for mankind and I think that this is what Michael is refering to when he tells Gabriel "I gave him what he needed." He means he gave God hope for mankind.

I believe the movie represents the extreme version of God in the Old Testament, where sinners are extremely punished (10 plagues, David’s son’s death, the City of Gamora, Cain, Adam and Eve, Noah, and even the punishment of mosses.) While Michael portrays as the God of the new testament which is Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit where they are even with Sinners, spend time with sinners, and through action turn said sinners to good people. The people in the diner are the sinners who changed to do good. Extension the mother of Audrey can represent the hypocrites during Jesus’s time where they feel they are right, where in reality they are wrong.

Absolutely! It definitely can get tough with the way the world is right now. As a believer in God and Jesus Christ, it often feels like the world is all going the opposite way than we hope to if we want to follow him. But essentially how I think of it, is we do the very best we can because God knows our situation fully. He knows how tough it is and is always there to support and strengthen. Especially as a content creator it has become less and less popular to talk about religious things. But you know what, gods ways have never necessarily been "popular" to mankind's nature. But that's the point. The point is to overcome our nature and become something greater than that. So keep pressing forward and trust that he will provide and guide. Oftentimes you'll feel alone, sure. I feel that a lot for sure, BUT I always know that no matter how alone I feel, I'm not. He's always there

Finally an explained video that actually explained something. Listening @8:48. Seems to me that God gave Michael the test he gave Abraham. God wanted. A slight disagreement though. @13:40 you talk about how you disagree with the scene where Gabriel gave God what he wanted but Michael gave God what he needed. There is a parable where Jesus was at a gathering. and woman i think was a "non believer" begged Jesus to save her son. Jesus told her to go away and made a quote. "It is not right to take bread from the children and toss it to the dogs." The woman countered by saying. "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the master's table." This argument was so compelling to Jesus that he declared she had great faith. Jesus healed her Daughter. The point is That God is all knowing and infallible yet still can be set in his ways. This doesn't mean that God can't be persuaded to change his mind. One more example is that Lot had so much faith in humanity that God agreed not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if he could find even one righteous man. Of course he didn't but God was still willing change his mind. So this also speaks to the theory that this was all a test for the angels. We are all constantly put to the test. So it would fit because what God needed was to know who was loyal enoough to disobey and do the right thing.

As a Christian myself some parts of this movie did make me uncomfortable, simply because of the whole cognitive dissonance thing; as I believe God to be this holy being, but in the movie He is portrayed differently. Something interesting that I've believed for a while is that God lets us go through tough things not because He needs to know if we can do it, but rather He wants us to know that we can do it. Maybe the test was not Him wanting to know the righteousness of Michael and the obedience of Gabriel, but rather helping Gabriel to understand and become comfortable with his faith (faith vs blind obedience) and helping Michael to be strong and always do what he believes is right.
