Well layered, from the thoughtful first spread of gently flavoured beef in a quiet marinara, through the freshly made strips of pasta, and the generously spooned ricotta, to the crisped at the edges - but not burnt - melted cheese. The only question I have is shall - nay dare! - I take a corner piece, stealing two crispy edges of the thoughtfully mixed mozzarella and Maytag Blue cheese, or forgo the crisp, and take the center piece, focusing instead on the carefully melted mixture playing softly on my palate? Regardless, 'tis a sensation not to be passed by for being a "mere pasta," rather appreciated for its subtle complexities in its simple form.

23:30 This is the best part of the whole episode. Mark is basically the kid who picks last in the prizes booth. Brea gets the biggest bag of chips and soda even though she does not know what to do with it. Wil gets the second best, 3 bags of Mentos but still considers it to be the best prize because, well, he simply loves them. Allie gets the third best, gets a full bar of Cadbury but since she loves chocolate, doesn't find that bad in the slightest. And Mark, even though he knows how to utilize the top 3 prizes to their fullest potential, gets stuck with candy corn.

To be honest, Mark's strategy is best for a long game. Due to the fact the game is shorter due to it being on easy mode, a straightforward "punch through" strategy is good enough.

One of my biggest issues with this game is that it has a seriously limited amount of art. It really baffles my mind that with all the colorful scenes these characters are depicted in from their comics, each hero only has a single piece of artwork to be shared with every single one of their cards! Even the Masterminds don't get different artwork! It's a fun game, don't get me wrong, but one of the reasons I like DC Deck Builder so much is because of that varied artwork just makes it so enjoyable to look at.

Neverending Nightcore Against a tougher villain I'm certain his strategy would become much more viable.

Awesomely fun episode and game! Two minor things it would be nice to correct for fans that pick this game up and start playing - 1.) Venom can be defeated by anyone with Covert, the red icon means covert, not Spider-Man universe, and 2.) When told to KO a card you can only KO from your hand or the table (just played during your turn) , not from the discard pile unless the discard pile is specifically mentioned. In the later expansions, understanding the difference between hand, table (played) and discard pile can be critical.

I like to imagine Allie summoned her dinosaur clothed inner-child to be able to have so much punching.

Even though I've seen pictures of Allie Brosh, I'm always surprised when she doesn't look like she does in her comic.

I really miss the uncut versions of the show that I can relax and watch for 2 or so hours

cannedcream They did Elder Sign, which is similar. Try watching that to understand some of the rules. Eldritch Horror is easier than Elder Sign, imo. Much less to keep track of.

I was rewatching this. And I just realized that Wil made a mistake at around 5:30 about defeating Venom. He can use Deadpool as well to kill Venom. Cause what is required is a red card not a spiderman universe card.

It has nothing to do with being a Spider-Man universe hero. The symbol on the Venom card is a “Covert” card and a lot of different heroes have that symbol

I started my board game collection because of you guys. I have Dead of winter, Last night on earth, mansions of madness, Gloom, Munchkin, Cards against humanity, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Betrayal at house on the hill, and many more. Exactly the same for me. Previously I have been and still are a 32 year Games Workshop veteran and I would play the odd board game etc but since seeing this video the first time in summer 2015 when I found this channel. Wil Wheaton has a lot to answer for, lol. All hail Wil Wheaton for making board games and card games cool

Fun to watch and helpful. It's close to a real play experience.

If you love Magic style classic deck-based games but want to play them on the cheap, try Fantasy Flight's LCGs. You can collect 100% of the existing cards for most of the newer ones for roughly the cost it'd take to fully collect even one set of Magic. In terms of which to check out, the Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, and Netrunner LCGs are especially good in particular.

CrippledFapper A majority of the games mentioned have a broad tournament metagame, both in the variety of builds played, and actual variation in different cards played within one particular archetype. As much as I love Magic, there's not a lot of variation in majors decklists a lot of the time.

confushisushi Yeah, I would think that they would have to include the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel's most iconic superhero teams, in this game. But in this video, they went through a lot of cards, including multiple iterations of the same characters, and not only did no-one from the Fantastic Four show up but Captain America and Thor didn't either; so I'm guessing that they just didn't include a lot of different characters in the game set, choosing to highlight a few separate heroes instead. Then again, I don't think that we saw Spider-Man either - nor Wolverine, except illustrated on the wound card - so maybe you're right and they just missed some.

PowerMindAlchemist With 4 players you select (randomly or otherwise) 5 super-characters to bring into the game. There is then 14 cards of each hero which you can recruit. They listed the one they were going to use at teh start of the video. Also, Fantastic Four is in an expansion and not a part of the base game which mostly consists of Avengers and X-men.

The last time I heard Wil's voice was when I listened to him reading Ready Player One. Everything he says sounds so dramatic now. I'm so excited.

I tend to view the decks as the collection and dissemination of information and coordinating between the heroes and troopers. So when you have a punchy Spider-Man card in your hand SHIELD is passing information to him to deal with something.

So what counts as being in a certain universe because you said Black Widow can be used to take down Venom because shes apparently from the Spider Man Universe but Deadpool has done teamups with Spider-Man and I personally consider Spider-Man to be Deadpools 2nd best henchman, behind Wolverine of course, and yet he cant?

That looks like a very fun and clever game! I love the way the developers managed to fit the entire comic storyline into a board game--bad guy is afoot, heroes are taking down their own baddies as SHIELD begins recruiting them to take on the bad guy, and finally they come together to punch him in the face and win. The mechanics are solid, too, and the art isn't glaringly colorful like in some other Marvel themed games. Looks like a fun game! You guys looked like you were having a blast, and the whole thing was fun to watch! ^_^

That one is officially out of print since the publisher lost the license for the franchise. Probably best not to use a game people can't buy now.

Andrew Humphries That didn't stop them from playing "Epic Spell Wars...etc." when it was out of print... In fact, many of the games they play are out of print and then come back into print because of the demand fostered by this show.

The God Emperor But not Guards! Guards! from the same set. What an abysmal game. Just... just stay away, I warn you. I personally find the end-game of Discworld: Ankh-Morpork a little annoying, but it is a pretty fun game, especially for a Terry Pratchett fan.

Radish Raccoon I don't think the end game is so bad. Especially if you're the guy who wants to draw out the deck :P It's fun to do all you can to screw the other players over while you work to empty the deck. Makes you chaotically fun.

As soon as mark said he used to play magic the gathering as a kid I flipped to remember an hear it stated again because I enjoy the game an love to see people I look up to have experienced it

Mark was playing Dominion while everyone else was playing Legendary. Or in Dominion terms, Mark was still buying villages and gold while someone already hoovered all the provinces.

I love how the whole intervention sounded like he was in an abusive relationship!

for anyone who's never played this before, its an amazing game. after my first play (where we actually lost) i already loved it. each time you play is a new scenario with different heroes plus theres lots of addons the only flaw is if you play with a bunch of people who dont like working together, youre gonna step on each others feet and end up losing. it also requires some strategy and doesnt rely so much on blind luck I highly recommend this game above all others shown on tabletop (Except lords of waterdeep)

I'm so glad they played this. I get requests for this to hit the table more than anything lately. It's a great meld of flavor and mechanics. I'll pipe in with a couple of clarifications to the video, though. Most of the on-screen rules text is correct, but Will makes a couple mistakes: 1) To beat Venom, you need a character with the Covert class symbol in the upper left corner, not a "Spider-Man universe" character. 2) An effect that tells you to KO a character, by default, only applies to the cards in your hand or that you have played to the table that turn. Some cards allow you to KO a card in the discard pile, but those are exceptions. 3) Also, they would be better off replacing a Hero each time before recruiting another in the same turn, because something better might come off the deck.
