Simon is one of the greatest lead guitarists this country has produced. Crawl was more than a band , they were a living thing. As big as they were, Simon was often not credited where credit was due and I think that affected him personally. He was a genuine man who did not seek the spotlight and was happy to discus life and music on the premise you were genuinely interested too. His input to the soundtrack of my life has been an inspiration to play and enjoy music. Thanks Simon.

Simon has an axe in his hands and then he turns into an absolute genius. Best guitarist Australia has ever had. He had his own unique styles. Thanks for the great music Steve and the whole band. Simon , is a great writer, guitarist music lover, and most of all humanitarian , much respect, White Limbo

Think the venue in Sydney he couldn't remember is Selina's at the Coogee Bay Hotel. Australian Crawl played there regularly.

My Coffee’s Gone Cold, what a juicy track, he can write and play, and the best anyone can do when trying to play Crawl songs is copy his parts, because without them the songs don’t sound the same. Good on you Simon.

Interesting interview. The French wanted their colonial possessions in Indo China back post WW2 that's what fermented Vietnamese anger and the desire for independence. After the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 the US saw the Vietnamese independence push as part of the spread of communism which at the time was probably understandable but in retrospect a mistake. History is sometimes like that. Interesting interview. I knew both James and Brad at Monash University around 1975/6 and coincidently worked with Brad briefly in Room Service in the old Melbourne Hilton in 1977. He was a super guy very funny and charismatic but died far too young!

Hi Folks. Love Aussie Crawl. Saw them for the first time at Sorrento Hall in Summer 1980. Many times since. I remember reading an article where Mark Seymour was to talking about Dragon. He said they should have been a supergroup but came up against Cold Chisel. A once in a lifetime band. I feel the same about Aussie Crawl. They were great. But live they were trounced by Chisel live.

After seeing this and reading Bill's book, the jury is out on James. Not sure if he's a very nice person. Reportedly he refuses to talk to any other members, very childish for a guy of his age, and no matter how many guitarists he uses, he can't replicate the unique sound of Simon Binks.
