Leonel Marshall Borges Jr. (born September 25, 1979) is a Cuban professional volleyball player. He is an outside hitter, and is well known for his outstanding vertical jump. He played for M. Roma Volley and Pallavolo Piacenza in Italy and currently plays for LPR Piacenza where he wears number 7. He was the youngest member of the Cuban men's indoor volleyball team at the 2000 Olympics, which placed seventh. He is son of retired Cuban volleyball player Leonel Marshall Sr. who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics and in the 1980 Summer Olympics. He escaped from Cuba, and now cannot play for his national team. Marshall Incredible jump 383cm.

I remember this Cuban team was the number one side in the world!!! It's players like Marshall who made that possible.Amazing vertical ability and all around ball handling skills. Truly one of the best to ever grace the courts!!! Thanx for the post!!! Brings back good memories !!! I think he is better than Wallace, but not by much.

Not just athleticism, but his intelligence and awareness on the court were really something to behold.
Marshall was one of my favorite players in the entire world back in the 2000s--that Cuban team was honestly (almost) unstoppable. Along with Angel Dennis, that team had a great combination of youth, flair, and some experienced veterans. The unforced errors killed them at times, but it was always so fun to watch them!

1:32 he jumped so high that he could simply adjust his blocking hands in mid-air and decided where he would put the ball back, while all at the same time looking back at the opposite person above the net. How frustrating!

Simply amazing!!! Been a big fan for a long time. Marshall is one in a million!!! Best ever? Could be!!! 🇨🇦 Cuba was always the best back then!!!

There is a famous sequence of moves in Chess, called Marshall attack: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruy_Lopez#Marshall_Attack:_7...0-0_8.c3_d5 I think this spike should go down in the volleyball history as "Marshall Attack".

Just over 6’4”...truly amazing that he has the highest vertical touch height at that standing height...2nd place on the list is Gavin Schmitt, and he is 6’10”...

Es un increíble jugador como lo fue su padre en sus tiempos. Estuvimos juntos en la escuela entrenando voleibol y desde entonces supe por su ímpetu, que venía para ser Leyenda de este deporte.
