The jury is still out on performance improvements with the wingtips. I may still get around to finishing them one day.
@rjhinnj
Жыл бұрын
Actually, rounded wing tips are 90% aesthetic and add no significant flight/control improvement for the added weight, especially for a rectangular wing plan form. Induced wing drag caused by spillage of higher pressure air on bottom of wing to top is not affected with either type of wing tip design. Winglets are required. But staying in the 103 category might be difficult with anything extra like that as this bird comes as close as it can already (254 lbs empty). In fact, Darren is yours LE under that weight? Not sure what the restrictions are in Australia.

Hey Ross. I bought mine as a kit from a guy in QLD that had been imported but never started. The timber is spruce but you can use aircraft grade hoop pine as an alternative. Forgive my naivety but is that oil and bubbles in the oil pressure line going to the gauge? Does it need to be bled?
@DCSquared
3 жыл бұрын
I used to think the same too but was told that for a system which reads a static pressure, as opposed to one doing work with hydraulics, the bubbled air is not a problem. If the oil pressure at the engine is constant, the oil and air in the line will be compressed to a similar constant, indicating the same result on the pressure gauge.
