Perfect, thank you! Got it done. Only trouble I had was that I was unable to lower my window (as my motor was burned out), and so I had to reach inside the door to remove the window bolts, and that was a real pain in the behind...

Same here. I had to also break off the metal hooks that the regulator hangs from. And then how to hold the glass up while installing the new regulator... It turns out the regulator and motor both have those tabs, which make it possible to hold the window up with one hand while you feed the regulator into the door. Then use those hooks to set it all in place... have the bolts handy to loosely start them all. Then bolt the glass on, and tighten everything.

Watcging video now would be awesome if you could get back to me im just wondering can you diagnose whether its the switch or motor that is causing front left window to not roll down by taking off the door. Would i be able to see what the problem is by doing so? Also if there a difference between a regulator and a motor or is it the same thing on one piece. Thanks

Usually the motor and regulator are sold as an assembly. Remove the door panel. Use a battery from a cordless screwdriver or drill. Attach 2 wires to the terminals on the battery. touch those wires to the 2 terminals on the motor (if the motor has 6 terminals look for the two largest wires), That should power with motor if the motor is ok. Otherwise probably the switch

I noticed you said that if its the window motor that there would be a sound. I have a 2010 and there is no sound when attempting to roll the window down. So you said would possibly be the switch but what if all the other switches and window work correctly? Is it common for only one of the multi switch to stop functioning? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

yes it might just be the one switch but you get the entire bank of switches together

Yeah my passenger front won't even move with driver or passenger switch what would you recommend

Do you replace the motor and regulator while you’re there or start with a regulator and see if that works?

Try applying current directly to the window motor from a cordless battery. Assuming the regulator is not broken.

If you definitely know it's the motor just cut the cable. If not, the bolts are accessible it's just a little difficult to get to them. I got mine out with window all the way up, so it is possible.

My gf car can roll down just fine its just when she rolls it UP she has to pull the switch up multiple times because it only Rolls up a little bit each time and then stops. Which part do I need to replace here? I dont want to replace more than I have to.

I think it was phillips. OR might be torx.

If you call your local Subaru dealer with the Vin # they can look up the part numbers

What if the window is stuck in the up position? How do you disconnect the window from the regulator?

IF you are sure the problem is the window motor you can cut both of the metal cables which will release the regulator. Don't cut any electrical cables and make sure the problem is not the switch before you start slicing.

Can I just replace the motor or does the whole unit need to be replaced

IF you are sure the problem is the motor a few options. 1) you can try tapping the motor with a hammer, might start working. 2) since the new regulator comes with the motor feel free to cut any of the METAL (not electrical) cables, which will release the glass. 3) two 10mm bolts hold the glass to the regulator. Get a long wrench and see if you can reach in to loosen them, or perhaps a hole saw.
