"I see the world's leaders just worrying themselves with who is going to win the next election. We are missing leadership. We are missing the decision to say, 'We are going to improve the planet'", extols Mujica. At international conferences the former Guerrilla fighter and revolutionary, who spent 13 years in prison, is known for asking provocative questions about big global issues. Yet under Uruguay's constitution Mujica can't stand for a second term, and with an election next month the latest polls for his successor haven't been good. The main candidate, Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, is from one of the wealthiest families in the country and claims to prefer a "more formal" style. As the controversial man who has welcomed Guantanamo prisoners into the nation is forced to stand down, there are fears his "knock on the door and be heard" approach will disappear with him.

If more presidents were like this and less obsessed with setting up billion dollar deals for themselves and their chums post office the world wpudl be a much better more just place instead ex get David Cameron for example and tong Blair and their £400000 summer camps for private school kids to learn how to be future leaders it's sick and should be banned this guy should be more publicised

She worked in a bank to pay her tuition fees. Found out the bank was dealing in illegal activities, got a couple of friends, robbed the bank, took the implicating papers and exposed them. WoW!

I wish to pay my homage to Uruguay's former President Jose Mujica for his humble lifestyle. And this homage is also paid to the former First Lady, who has a very wonderful husband. He is the Uruguayan people's pride and an amazing example for leaders of other countries to follow.
This is a man of honor. All presidents or leaders of other nails should be like Him.
It’s my president even if I’m italian, even if he isn’t anymore in charge, even if in certain parts I disagree with him. His thought is precious.

When he said I didn’t robbed the bank for myself, other wise it would have been different..! Not advocating what he did was right but this man shows how selfless he is despite being president..! That's the mentality of the world we live in today, how can a man of this Calibre have just 91K views and 175 comments in 4 years? It's not about the political elites, it's about the mindset
