    @@alwaysabiggafish3305 it’s about as flawed as a test can be. From a scientific standpoint, there are zero control values, zero clear repetitions of the same activity. If I bang on two figures with a pencil, it does not account for if they were built well, or if I just so happen to have a poorly made version of that figure. The build of the figure is important because it determines how much tension is being applied to each piece. the exact same toy could produce two different sounds if built with different standards. Please stop trying to justify what is clearly nonsense.

    CY. DEF. hotshot was actually one of my favorite moulds of hotshot, and i dont see it often but the repaint into roadbuster was a great idea too, this hotshot is nice and i love the callbacks to armada particularly with the visor and axlzooka but those legs are PAIN, it really didn't have to look that bad and at its pricepoint in 2023 it SHOULDN'T, but here we are. Hasbro more concerned about fixing non-issues than actual good toy design.

    11:52 there is a simple fix for this problem. Dab a bead of super glue on a joint (one side of the visor, any more than one and it will be too stiff) after applying move the visor up and down for at least 5 minutes until you are sure that the glue is finished drying. And that’s how you fix Legacy Evo Hot Shot!!!!!!

    Figure is ok. It's not amazing, but not really all that bad either. The legs definitely could have been engineered better, mainly making it fold in to fill the inside of the leg... but at the same time after stuff like SS86 Jazz maybe not having clear plastic roof/windows have hinges was the better call. Also, I dunno if my copy is lucky or not, but I've had no problem with the tabs in the knees coming undone when moving. One of the shoulder panels doesn't want to tab on 90% of the time, though the other works just fine. I did notice that TJ missed one thing with the leg kibble. It does connect to the rest of the leg (although not particularly securely), just not with the same tab it uses for vehicle mode. Theres a slot cut into the clear plastic around the hinge for the yellow piece that connects to a raised rail on the back of the leg, and the tab on the yellow piece rests up against said rail. If you move that yellow piece past about 90 degrees, it blocks the connection, which is why the instructions show you not moving it as far up as the piece can actually rotate.

    I think the biggest problem with the Armada Hot Shot design is that the original is quite literally built around the axlezooka gimmick, resulting in the top third of the robot being a largely inarticulate brick, and the 'linebacker' shillouette being so iconic doesn't translate well when you need to deal with a head that has articulation and actually has to go somewhere else in robot mode instead of just being covered by a panel. This means the chest is thicker to accommodate the hinged door, as well as the fact the arms need actual elbow swivels as opposed to the weird off-center transformation pin-swivel the original has. With the arms being thinner to lay against the body, that means they can't have even a chained double hinge for the roof kibble, and thus the roof is on the legs like Animated Bumblebee instead of on the arms like they should be. Looking at the figure from the side, I think another thing to consider is why the original's shoulders are so infamously dumb. The original toy had the shoulders mounted directly above the rear wheel wells, which had to be hollow to support the axlezooka, so there simply wasn't any space for anything other than a hinge rotation. The 2008 figure tried eliminating the backpack altogether in such a weird way (to this day why that version's shoulders are not squared with the body is a question I want answered) and it was a total disaster. Legacy Evo. Hot Shot looks to be the best possible compromise, in that you still get that solid block resembling the original, but at the same time Armada Hot Shot finally has decent shoulders for once. It also kind of works in the sense it's not really that different from the Stunticons who have whole car fronts hanging on their backs, so it's a slightly more G1-ified take on the Armada design. The figure isn't perfect, the legs should have been telescoping like what you have on the 2006 Seekers, and the roof panels should have been mounted on the arms similar to Classics 2006 Prime, but I think at least with the latter this wasn't done for the sake of the 5mm ports and thus playability, those roof panels on the arms getting in the way of mounting accessories. And the former likely due to budget. As for the loose tabs, while not ideal you could easily put a layer of nail polish remover on them to create a tighter fit without damaging the toy as you would risk if you tried super glue.

  • @malusignatius
    @malusignatius Жыл бұрын

    I agree with TJ, the legs are the big let down. if the canopy had folded horizontally instead of vertically, you could have had a roof or windscreen section fill in the inner leg and at the same time give more clearance for the knee.

    The transformation seems like the style of modern G1 where they are ashamed of vehicle bulk so hide it away as panels when in the 2000’s bulk was used to form the robot giving all of them a unique look and very much like armor. I think if they did some re engineering of the arms and a plastic arm mechanism like the knees transformation it could’ve been used to bulk up the arms while having a hollow arm that’s filled up by the arm retracting the top of the vehicle. Now if they had more plastic to work with the leg gaps I think might be possible to cover with static plastic panels

    The Armada line is such a mixed bag right now. Starscream was my first indication things might not be so great with my childhood characters being revived, and Hotshot nearly killed all excitement I had for Optimus until he leaked. Hasbro seriously has an over-complication problem, and Hotshot is a great example of that. All they had to do was take the original toy, shape it to look more like the show, and give it better articulation. THAT. IS. IT. And yet Hasbro continually feels like it's starting to adopt the Nintendo curse of needing to reinvent the wheel every time they make a figure, and because of that they've essentially robbed us of the ONE TIME, those of us that grew up with Armada could have a chance for perfect versions of many of these characters. They're aiming for show accuracy and yet they REMOVED kibble from Hotshots arms which he had in the show just to shove it behind his freaking legs restricting the knee! Who thought that was a good idea?! You can't even put Hotshot's weapon on his chest, anymore, so that's a play feature gone just like the saws which I would have rather had instead of those stupid foot ports. Even Megatron, as excited as I am to get him he isn't without complaint because he's using those reprehensible Laser Prime shoulders that restrict arm movement, and as a result they are giving us a figure where the shoulders are actually LESS articulated than the original, which is absolutely unacceptable! Where is all this extra engineering coming from when all they had to do was improve the original toys?? Optimus is the only one I get, he needed an overhaul to work with the Super Mode gimmick, and they handled it extremely well. My only complaint with him is the fact the Super Mode crotch plate rotates with the upper body instead of staying with the pelvis (And the fact that crotch plate is toy-accurate instead of show-accurate, for some reason). I've actively passed up on Hotshot and Starscream because they are subpar figures despite the fact that they should have been so freaking easy, and even Megatron as great as he looks I'll need to customize him just so his shoulders have the same level of movement as a freaking twenty-year-old toy! Something needs to be changed here, because Hasbro has a major problem of over-complication that's actually hindering their figures making everything just feel worse. Their figures would feel so much more solid and fun if they just stopped finding ways to make them complex resulting in thin, cheap plastic that has to move on several hinges and sometimes even flex out of the way to end up somewhere. Heck, if they stopped over-complicating transformations on figures maybe they'd have the budget to PAINT THEM! The fact I can't have a proper, complete Armada collection unless I customize the ones they screwed up is legitimately the last straw for me because I and many others have waited twenty years for these guys to make their return, and they've already screwed up something on three out of four of them. They need to change something over there because this is getting equal parts ridiculous and infuriating.

    At this rate I think TJ just doesn't like Hot Shot XD. Armada Hotshot is known to be the bane of his existence, Universe not being good and this one his issues are the profile and a few issues. My issues personally is just the visor and all the drop tabs, then again I am someone with no gripes with kibble unless its very intrusive to which this isn't plus IMO the arms look fine. And as someone who thinks of Hotshot having thicker shins, I feel the roof should have been on a set of pinned joints to cover the sides of the legs, instead given how kinda crappy the articulation becomes with it on the back anyway but I think of it as a nitpick lol. Also TJ your idea on how the roof of the car should have folded likely would have taken a bigger budget and would look shittier somehow because the panel line would be moving in and then like a part moving to he side. If it was the full thing it likely would have sacrificed the car mold as the armature joint would have to be set under the knees and would have made the toy into Studio Series fiddle city. Still don't say I think this is a 10/10 because I think this is a solid 7/10, its good but the transformation sequence is not the best, either too much force is needed or too much prying, same as Origins Jazz, its alright. Origins Jazz requires way too much in the way of conflicting panels IMO while this just has too many drop tabs, like seriously why couldn't Hasbro just make them normal tabs so I can tab shit in without spending 3 minutes just trying to see how far up I am going without feeling like I am breaking the toy.

    Is that okay to believe Masterpiece may do Armada Series? Or maybe someone knew a good 3rd party Armada Hot Shot? Cause I wanted really bad Starscream, Hot Shot, but zamn they destroyed all figures, with giving Super Mode Optimus Prime Yellow eyes. I will change my mind if they make it red, but I'm worried it may never happen... Maybe it's time to just buy original toys, even if it's like 20 years late and may be not accessible ? I loved Armada as a kid but I've only got only a few minicons, never Deluxes as in the Energon case. Hotshot is honestly the hugest letdown of Legacy. In comparison to all these great updates to characters we've not seen since they're original figures, some being Armada updates even, and we get stuck with this figure that checks the boxes but doesn't pass the vibe check. Thankfully he's the only bummer out of the Armada representatives, Starscream, Megatron and Optimus all absolutely knocked it out of the park.
