Mazzagatti was a great ref at one point. Same with Yamasaki. A few bad calls & they both became punchlines for the mma community.

I think it also depends on what kind of fighter you are. Fighters that are known for their power, should be more aware the likelihood of them knocking someone out. Where's the smaller guys, a lot don't get knockouts and mostly just tkos

He used to be one of the best. He got gun shy after a couple early stoppages and after getting a lot of flack, he decided people needed to be beaten to a pulp.

@@italianstalian331 I think what it is that they tend to be a touch more reserve and choose their shots, so sometimes if someone rushes or has an opening it’s not always the power it’s the precision that finishes them quick. That’s how I see it anyway

Prime Nate Marquardt was a monster. At his best he legitimately looked like a champion-level fighter, he was so well-rounded. His fight with Tyron Woodley is one to watch, as is the dope elbow knockout. Unfortunately Marquardt had a reputation for inconsistency, on one night beating legit competition and on another losing to someone he should not have lost to.

@@madgavin7568 It all went straight downhill when he became a fanatic christian and focused more on the bible than on the gym. Also, he was unlucky enough to peak during the Anderson Silva era, definitely would've held the belt at some point otherwise. His TKO of Wilson Gouiveia is still one of the greatest combos to ever have been thrown in the UFC.

Zombie was a heavy underdog against Hominick as well. Many thought he was being thrown to the wolves too soon considering Hominick was a much more experienced fighter coming off a gutsy performance against Jose Aldo for the belt (prime Aldo days when he was considered nearly unstoppable). But Zombie starching Hominick so quickly was a shock to everyone watching, explaining Rogan's dramatic reactions.

KZ was a massive underdog because of the story, Hom's coach passed away like a year before that fight and that was his first fight back so the sob story factor was real so everyone was rooting for Hom in that fight which i do have to say even though im a fan of KZ and rooted for him in that fight but seeing Hom get starched like that after all that personal stuff did pull in the heartstrings a little, it was sad to see
My respect to every fighter in this video that had the reaction and instinct to realize their opponent was KO'd and stopped themselves from doing more damage

I have 1000x the respect for the guys who don't throw a post-knockout punch. I know you're supposed to swing until the ref stops it, but to walk away when you see them crumple shows great sportsmanship.
Incredible thing about the Hominick fight is that Hominick for the longest time was considered the second best pure striker in the entire Featherweight division behind a prime Aldo and KZ just starched him like that.

I'm surprised Conor isn't on here, but that was probably strategic. The UFC LOVES copy-striking that one. These are all classic. My favorites are Duane Ludwig, Nate Marquardt, Leon Edwards, and Zombie.

Korean zombie has one of the fastest knockouts and the first ever twister finish. I really hope he wins his title fight and ends his career with a title run. He deserves to have his name on the champion list. I don't think he will get another shot after this and may retire with a lose. He is 35 and thats old in this game. So hoping he gets that win and retires when he loses the belt. Even if he only holds it for one defense at least he ends on a high note. Even if he ends his career with a lose. Hope he doesn't end up like cowboy. Another guy i wish would have got a run.
