It's nice to see young people coming back to the homestead life. Your children will have the best childhood memories to remember when they are old and grey.

that means a lot i really hope so! we are trying to find the balance between raised on a homestead and involved and 'making' them do homestead stuff that they may grow up resenting. we have met so many people who are older who have beautiful farms/homesteads and it seems majority of their adult children live and raise their families in the city. we can't figure out why! grass is greener maybe?

Chicken tip.. I dry the used eggshells, grind them and add crush shells to the chicken feed for added calcium.

thank you! we have often given them back to the chickens without grinding them but i imagine they probably like them even better that way

I do raise greens for my chickens. They absolutely love carrots tops. I grow turnips, harvest tge toos a couple of times while the turnip us growing and then harvest it for me

Have you tried micro greens .? 3-4 day sprout time 7-10 days to feed

For the future, if you plan to free range chickens, leave them locked up for the first week or two of having them, then let em out. Doing so theyll know where home is

that is what we did (we contained them for a while, then one day we let them out to see what they would do!) unfortunately we don't free range anymore, we could never find their eggs and when we did, there were bunches of 20 in the bush somewhere so we didn't know how old they were.

@@asasupplies8749 i think it is if you have the right mindset and if you want it bad enough!! there's so many factors to consider including where you live. we moved an hour out of the closest major city and of course some places are super unaffordable even for raw land. it's not impossible but everyone will have obstacles i'm sure.

Hi Gary from the UK here, chicken tips if you grind old egg shells up for calcium you run the chance of the chickens eating there own eggs, I use oyster shell grit it's natural and been used for many years and it lasts a long time, If you want a tip for chicken feeder plus it stops waste of the feed contact me? Plus got lots more tips and tricks
