Heres one for you: Am I the ayy hole for never wanting to watch my little brother? My mom is one of those women where if she tells you to do something, you better do it asap. And whenever she tells me to watch my little brother, she tells me things to not let him do, then gets mad at ME for doing exactly what she told me to, and not caring for the fact that what she told me to do made my little brother (who we’ll call T) scream. So whenever I DO watch my little brother, I make darn sure to do my best not to make him scream, but sometimes, it’s impossible. There have even been times where I did something as small as STANDING UP and he’d scream. He’s a literal killjoy and a pain in the butt to deal with. He could literally have a knife, and I would take it out of his hands, he’d start screaming, and I’d get in trouble. Like, she wouldn’t even listen to my side of the story. Hard to deal with, especially when I’m almost at my breaking point. Even worse, I always have to do what SHE tells me to do. For example, if Mom tells me to, idk, pick up trash outside, and Dad tells me to watch T, and I watch T first, because the trash can wait and T can’t, I would get yelled at by Mom for not listening to her. It’s gotten so bad at times that I’ve asked to take a break and go down to my grandma’s place for a week or two (because she’s really nice), and she’d promise that I would go, then make up excuses every time the time of my departure was like a day away, and postpone the trip. Eventually I asked why she kept postponing the trip, and she straight up said “Because every time you go down you come back a total b**** and an a**hole.” Like, I’m her SON. WHO TREATS their SON like that? And every time I come back, I’m always just upset that it’s time to go. And if I do act like the things she described, it’s always only for like a day or two, yet she said it always lasts for weeks. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve considered suicide multiple times, but fortunately I’ve had my friends and even surprisingly my ex keeping me from doing so. And deep down, I do love my mom. She’s a great cook, and makes AMAZING sweet tea, and is even pretty popular on TikTok (Her account’s called Peachy Mama btw). But there are definitely times where she’ll be really mean and be one of those moms who you don’t want to cross. But idc, she’s helped keep me alive for this long, so why would I?

Sweetheart, there is a fine line between parenting and bullying. I am sorry you are in this situation. I personally want to give you all the hugs and cookies. As for how to deal, I don't know, but whenever I have worked with people like that, I begin to take them literally. Dad says watch brother, Mom says pick up trash, I specifically ask "Dad told me to watch brother. Do you want me to pick up trash first or watch him?" Because then I didn't make the decision. She told me to do one then the other. "Did you mean you wanted me to clean the living room NOW or after I was done helping brother tie his shoes?" The term "for clarification" or "so I won't mess up" was my friend. I hope you keep your support people close. Big hugs.
