I guess he did not research properly. India gives evisa easily to everyone in world except pakistan and Bangladesh. Atleast bangladeshis get regular visa easily but Pakistanis donot get that either. Then what makes you think, you will get transit visa for 48 hours easily. You should have researched and confirmed from embassy.
