Lee Trevino's Playoff Triumph: 1971 U.S. Open Film
Спорт
Already a winner of the U.S. Open in 1968, Lee Trevino had victory in his sights once again three years later at Merion Golf Club. And once again, the legendary Jack Nicklaus was aiming to flip the script.
The official U.S. Open film, produced in 1971.

Trevino is my all-time favorite golfer.
Love the funky early 70s music they played for these highlights. That one hole that Nicklaus double boggarted made Jack look like a pedestrian, amazing.
More of these old opens, please...
The Golden era of golf.
1970 british open -1978 british open Nicklaus began a consistent streak unmatched by any professional golfer before or since. In the majors Nicklaus finished in the top ten a remarkable 35 times out of 36
Lee Trevino had a nerve wracking, playing style, that he used to great advantage. I cant just imagine him, talking Nicklaus' head off, and driving him up the wall. It's not old school gentlemanly, country club etiquette. That's mostly jive, anyway..They're all killer's, and Trevino's crazy, as a very intelligent fox.
I'm only guessing that the opening audio to this utterly classic historic piece would be worth millions? 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤦🤦 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I kid you not the music that starts up at 4:10 was in the Sanford and son episode “the piano movers” and I can’t stop laughing after realizing that🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why does the sound work on my TV but not on laptops?
What was the USGA reaction to professional golfers and players union (PGA)?
now now, Jack 8:12 :) that was the extent of Jack's lost composure.
Lanny Wadkins tees off the first on day one with Charles Coody and Tony jacklin but then holes a long put on the way to an opening 69 with different clothes on and with two different players, nice one.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lee was the hotdog man
Two duffs in a bunker - failed to get down in 2 with the next one - plus that duffed pitch on ten. Jack had 19 2nds in Majors - was this his biggest regret?

Lee could beat Jack eight times out of 10......and he did!

I don't know what if anything, your referencing, but Nicklaus, didn't even beat himself, 8 out of 10 times. Lee Buck Trevino, did stare Nicklaus down at majors, on several occasions. The next year, at Pebble Beach, it was Nicklaus' turn. I believe that they played together as well.
He's the only completely obnoxious person, that I've ever liked. That's freaking charisma, that you can't really explain. At least I can't.
What is the next U.S open film to upload
Damn....can watch but sound is way off!
till this day Lee Trevino can't even remember Merion's last name
Perhaps the most accurate player of all time Tee to green. Not sure I have seen any specs saying anyone more accurate
