    I started in the industry on the claims side as a contractor and was disgusted with the greed and sales manipulation and alleged fraud going on around me. I’m happy to say I have my own roofing business that sells exclusively retail. If you have a claim, sure I’ll make sure you are taken well care of. The roofing claims in general have been wildly exaggerated. Homeowner insurance rates are very high because people are treating insurance like a piggy bank the same way roofers are treating homeowners like commission checks. Same goes for solar sales guys too. It’s disgusting.

    Same. We do insurance if there’s legitimate damage, but I’ve hedged my bets by expanding into other exterior residential trades, and just being honest about roofs with customers. If you’re set up right, repairs can be very lucrative.

    @@RoofingInsights3.0 4 starts is not the concerning part to me. It’s the issues the unhappy customers are bringing up. Everybody has had issues on projects!when you do enough jobs stuff is bound to happen from time to time. The most important aspect is how you deal with the problems. If you mess up just own it and fix it and most importantly be honest!

    Why is it ok for doctors to use AOBs to collect insurance for damages but not a contractor?

  • @BallinGarage

    @BallinGarage

    It's not ok! Everyone has protection for either their work to be performed or to get paid by the contractor but the contractor has nothing that guarantees they will get paid. Hell everything out there including our contractor software has autopay or cancellation policies. While I love Dmitry's content I feel he is backing the exception not the rule. I have no problem giving someone a quote for the work to be performed, what's interesting is if you do this the insurance companies still ask contractors to prove the client paid their deductible. If I'm not getting paid full scope plus supplements, I'm not waiting 6-9 months to get paid. I have no problem giving a retail quote and getting paid at time of completion, but I won't do anything with the insurance claim. Plus most people in US don't have the $ to pay out of pocket for a complete roof and want to wait for insurance to pay for it. Let's not paint the roofers as the bad guys, the insurance companies and property owners are just as much to blame, if not more.

    @@BallinGarage exactly. That’s why I feel like we SHOULD be allowed to use AOBs and file with insurance just like any physician would. homeowners can be lowest of the low. They’ll Use your estimates to get high insurance money and then drop you and hire the cheapest guy once the money comes in

    Assignment of Benefits (AOB) are not the reason insurance companies are jacking up their prices. They are raising prices because they are billion-dollar businesses whose main goal is to make money. You have done KZread videos in the past about this. I'm not saying there are not bad apple contractors. Clearly there are like Haight. But the insurance companies want us to think the main reason premiums are skyrocketing is because of bad contractors, when in fact it's because the insurance company is greedy and are trying to turn a profit, as you've pointed out before. AOB's and bad contractors aren't the reason. That is a lie because they don't want the contractor to actually have power during the claim process. That is what a AOB does, it places the contractor as a first party claimant, so the insurer must treat the contractor as the homeowner including being respectful, answering substantive responses, or any other advantage you have as a first party claimant. If you have a legit contractor AOB is a great thing that helps the homeowner tremendously by having an advocate. I have numerous customers who will verify this.

    It’s dumb to classify the insurance companies as being super greedy just because prices are going up. They have been going bankrupt or pulling out of FL left and right. They need to make money or they won’t exist, just like any business. We need insurance companies, like it or not.

    Some Comments, FACTS, and Feedback for ya: ( I worked under RRCA for a bit): -The AOB Comments about RRCA are inaccurate 100% / they use Contingency Agreements Only, as AOBs have been outlawed in FL since 12/23 S.B. 2-A. -According to Frish (the D.A.'s assistant who gets paid and builds his career to "find/process anyone/anything"), ""his opinion"" is as relevant as What he can Only prove... -You should have ended this video at 14:03 - over half of this video is your CYA between You and Lee that you promised you'd let go....? -From the DA again - this "Scheme" is again an Opinion from the DA that's probably never held a hammer/been on a roof, or surely ran a real business before...Segway.. -Julgeling Receivables and Payables is part of Capitalism (IMO). Last I checked (besides General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), there are no laws "on the books" for the roofing industry to follow for down payments, time to build, etc. like the insurance carriers/ mortgage co'.s and others have to follow like having 90 days to settle a claim/21 days to receive your policy, 20 days to release funds from mort/bank etc. Maybe soon there will be, but not currently. -I see no reason not to reach out to a mentor for financial help - i think that's the first place you should look because they know you 100%. -Cheap Labor, Disaster-Prone-Markets - that's the Asst DA again not knowing the industry as that's par/normal (for those that don't know it). He's Trying to Build a Case Man... -Forces Insureds to Generate Revenue? = Nope, it's all done through Xactimate Software using their own pricing structure against them, so it's 100% accurate. -Overall, the video was well put together - It did lack basic facts about RRCA., the AI voice messed up a few words, and it seems you haven't let this go either.... "come on man"..
