Ned from Spain here again to say HEY La n Che. Maybe it's because I'm a drummer but this is THE TRACK for me. A lot of drummers would play the main riff too busy. I've heard demos of this with Bonzo figuring the beat out and playing too much. In the end he decided to lay out except for hi hat clicks when the riff repeats. The "swingin' " finish makes me smile every time and you know they were havin a party with it. The whole LP showcases every instrument, the creativity of each musician and it's perfectly balanced. Every song is it's own thing and I will never tire of listening to it after 50 years. On to the double trouble of Physical Graffiti !!!

@@AirplayBeats To the fellow with the Expos hat on, you'll be surprised to hear this, but *"The Ocean"* would win any poll of Zeppelin fans asking them to pick the best song from this album. Also, I'd like to temper your expectations for the next album. Yes, a lot of Zep fans love it and revere it. But to me it not one of their best albums. It has quantity, in that it's a double album. And for sure some good songs. But other than one masterpiece on it, *"Kashmir",* which I actually rank as not just Zep's best song, but the best song in the history of Rock, the rest of the album is good, not great. And there's even some tracks on it I don't care for. This is coming from a guy who has ranked Led Zeppelin as my favorite band (tied with Electric Light Orchestra, aka, ELO) since the mid '70s. But hey, I hope you dig the album more than I do. You certainly won't be alone, if you love it. I just don't get the fuss over it. To me, I'd rank the albums this way: 4, 1, 2, HOTH, 3, PG (the double-album), ITTOD, and in last place, Presence. Cheers.

I don't think this song is "filler", but I appreciate that you changed your opinion after hearing the entire song. I understand how hearing the Beastie Boys' sample this in their song could make it sound too familiar but Zep always takes the unexpected path. This song was the band's "thank you" to the audience as the enormous crowds looked like an ocean from the stage and all the moving and grooving made it look like the waves. Robert used to introduce it from the stage as for the fans - or something like that.

@8:45 Another definition of best band, if you could only take one bands discography to an abandoned island, which would it be? There are some amazing albums and songs, but as a whole? The range of music, their seriousness in the craft, all 4 are a Master's master in their craft- but they love it ad it shows. Imagine a world where no internet, no iPhones, instead every minute is spent with an instrument in your hands...when we texting, they were practicing, and strumming, and dreaming. And they were students of muisic and it's history- they respected it. The cherry on top...they sang of love the most, if humanity is around in a 1000 years, I think Led Zep will still rise to the top for representing that whole era, and maybe more.

Cheers.
One of the greatest guitar riffs ever
Houses of the Holy is my second favorite, Physical Graffiti number one. Both showcase the band at their most creative. You guys are in the thick of the best part of the journey. If you haven't yet heard Kashmir, prepare for your minds to be blown.

Me and my brother bought this album for my sister 50 years ago. I was 10 years old. I have never grown bored of it. The Rain Song and No Quarter just take you away when you listen to those tracks. I still cant decide if this or Physical Grafitti are my fav Zep albums . Either way you cant lose. I cant wait for you guys to hear Physical Graffitti, too many great songs to list. Its so damn good, you bros are in for one hell of a treat!!

This tune is a tribute or hats off to their audiences. "Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean roar!"

yes & I think also a tribute to his children & missing them/his family while on long long tour dates.

Houses of the Holy is a wonderful album, I particularly love the guitar sound, it has a glittering quality to it. Cheers and hugs from Uruguay 🇺🇾🤗👍
This album and the next one, "Physical Graffiti" (which is a double album) were written at the same time. Hence the song "Houses of the Holy" isn't on the album "Houses of the Holy" but is on "Physical Graffiti". All SIX sides are smoking.
Great song, great album. The drum fills at the end of The Ocean give away the secret that Bonham is a big band drummer in disguise. Thanks guys.

Lol Jimmy had amazing dance moves! There's a video of him at 13 yrs old on the BBC with his skiffle band. The other members were quite a bit older. He was so comfortable and had moves even then. They interviewed him and he said he wanted to be a "biological researcher". 🤦♀️ 😂😂😂 Well he did his share of that! Airplay should check out that video. ❤️

100% agree!! This is my all time favorite Led Zeppelin album.
The Ocean Rocks this way!! One of my favorite LZ tunes✌🏼👏🏼
There is and never was or will be Any Band that Mattered: Zepplin!!
Guys ...I've got em all, and this is my favourite album of theirs. If I'm gonna introduce anyone to Zeppelin, then I play them this. Great band. But my fave band is Queen (especially their early stuff) . I recommend you listen to the 'Prophets Song' by them.
That quick change for the outro is a throw back to 1950s rock and roll and Plant is doing a bunch of "doo wop" style lyrics all over it - several lines Plant ooo ooo ooo ooo dibbity dibbity doo wop -- ah ha ah ha ah ha
almost every song on the first 6 albums is a hit...on every - single - album
You guys are awesome. I'm enjoying going down the Zeppelin rabbit hole with y'all.
“Oh it’s so good!!!”
This and Presence are my tops.
This song is so full of attitude ! The riff is very funk based ! Always loved this one
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but this song is not a "filler" by any stretch of the imagination.... Spoke to soon before you heard the song in it's entirety IMHO ..
You have In The Light, 10 Years Gone, Kashmir, In My TIme of Dying, The Rover, The Wanton Song all to come!!
Led Zeps catalogue of music still is has more sales than most record labels.....because fans wore the Vynal out.....or CDs get wore out or beer spilled on them during parties.....I have bought the entire collection several times over. Since watching your weekly Zep episodes...i bought every Zep album in Vynal again to listen along as you guys discover the magic....Im still facinated by the music since i first heard my big brothers Physical Grafiiti album when i was 8 years old.....been listening to it for the last 50 years,,,,,,
'Oh so good' Robert was tight about that! Music with layers you can pull off of more layers. You guys are numero Uno 👍🏴
Yea man HOTH is indeed my favorite & my favorite Zep song is The Rain Song. Thanx for mentioning that ..... great reaction guys!!
Love this song. My family used to camp every year at Assateague Island (State Park) in Maryland. I used to dream playing guitar with this song on the beach by myself.
The ocean is the waves of fans in the audience!
Great channel, men. Love that Led! 61 yrs old...my youth! Just wait til you get to The Song Remains the Same live soundtrack...mercy ...and Presence!
U guys are doing great things on this channel and there is much more in store out in that musical universe! Keep swinging.
Houses is my favorite too. What a joyous, creative and exciting album.
This is my favorite album of theirs... And an incredible song, not a filler in the least
The ocean is the crowd they’re playing for
Thanks for a GREAT album reaction. Looking forward to the next. 🎶
They are the masters at this.
Dun-Dun-Dun-Da-da...... she's crafty. Riff sample by the Beastie Boys :) You guys are in for a treat, up next double album Physical Graffiti, their crowning achievement.
In for a treat with their next offering.
Hi de hi, what a great album that was, another classic, onward and upward, next albums are fantastic, three cheers to you ooo see you in the next one thanks
i was lucky enough to hear these songs as they were coming out. being born in ‘69, my parents played this stuff loud and it effected me even today. so hearing you guys react to these in chronological order is really cool. brings me back.
1. Physical Graffitti 2. Houses of the Holy 3. Zep III 4. Zep IV 5. Presemce You saying this is your favorite album, yes. It was mine until the next album. There are no bad albums or songs, but this order is what I've listened to most. And that's it. To the greatest band in the world: Zep
All I can say is being in high school when this album dropped was pure blessings to the soul. Cheers…
Oh man! Not a filler in my book, but to each his own. I love that it ends the album with this. Check out the live version. I agree, it my fav Zep album. I separate their work into 2 phases. This album is the peak of phase 1 for me. Phy Graf starts phase 2. That's just me, everyone has their own take on it & that's cool!

Really heart-warming❤!

Love that you are playing everything!
HARD! The bridge 💥
Awesome song!! This live at MSG in 1973 is fabulous! Can't wait until you get to Physical Graffiti...the next album!! Live Bonzo sings harmony!!
You guys are about to go for a big ride with the next album
They recorded this album in Mick Jaggers house, at a point in the first guitar solo you can hear the phone ringing in the background, kinda funny, there’s no way any engineer would allow that in the final recording now, but it was a great take so Jimmy kept it.
A lot of people Sampled parts of Zeppelin songs. I think they right up there of the most sampled.
Mr Plant said that the ocean was the crowd and that's how it looked and felt, to be next to the ocean.
My fav Zeppelin album as well. Great taste lol.
Zep about to open a can of whoop ass on you now.....strap in guys. Lots of journeys and epicness coming.
Glad you guys are enjoying the Led Zeppelin trip.
Filler? No way. This is a jam, one of my favorites from Zeppelin. I would pick this over Stairway to Heaven every time.
The Ocean has always been one of my favorites especially the second part!
Yes the next album boys
My fav album from them.
Houses of the Holy album is the one, of them all, I listened to the most.
Love this song and the doo-wap at the end. A foot stompin' tune. According to Bonzo they did "four already" before this take. The next album has one or two that were planned for this album. With a ton of good music it musta been hard to decide what goes where.
My fav from this album. Physical Graffiti will blow your mind too, it’s Led Zeppelin….they do that- right? ❤️🎶❤️
After watching all of your Zep videos I can just say I really love you guys. Start a band in LA and hit me up, you're my kinda peeps.
Great pronunciation of D'yer Maker, love you guys, you pick up on things immediately, and I can't wait for Physical Graffiti.
Love this tune and this reaction ❤
So cool that your reaction channel journey has crossed over to your real life out in the world! Music is amazing, it was the common ground that brought you together with those people in the park, even if it was just a thumbs up, a wave or a nod!
The title track "Houses of the Holy" didn't make the album, it's on their next studio album "Physical Graffiti" - it's a double album with about half new songs and half from previous projects.
GREAT BREAKDOWN FELLAS ! AGAIN ! BEST REACTION CHANNEL ON THE TUBES ! MISSISSIPPI !!!!
Keep moving forward. More Led Zeppelin please, get busy.
Really glad to hear you appreciate JPJ - not flashy, not a rock star personality, not a front man or a drummer (by def would need to be wild) - but absolutely a foundation for this band
Rockin the Expos!! Great reviews of a great album. All killer, no filler.
The next album will take you a year to do ! Looking forward to it. My personal favorite!
Brings back memories hearing this incredible Led Zeppelin song. Love it! The drumming, bass, and Robert Plants singing with the fantastic lyrics. Great reaction guys peace and love
Physical Graffiti is the one i come back to again and again after all those decades .... A double album without fillers
Get ready guys! Your future favorite album is up next... Cant wait for you to check it out. GREAT JOB Y'ALL ARE DOIN'!!
Physical is a beast with a lot of variety what a ride that will be wait till Ten Years Gone song
Great reaction, respect for the Montreal Expos ballcap.
Love the Expo hat. I used to have one back in the day
Happy Thursday you guys, and thanks for another kick-ass Zep tune to fire up my day. As always, really appreciate your thoughts and perspective on the music. Much love from Canada!
I love the drums on this one
Filler??? One of my favorites, and definitely my favorite song to play on guitar
This whole album is a triumph for Pages producing ability. The diverse nature of the album, the absolute monsters from track to track. My personal favorite Zeppelin album.
Great album. This one was there 3rd largest gross sale album 11M, Zeppelin 2 was second at 12M and there number 1 top album is there 4th one that was actually untitled at 23M. Looking forward to your reactions to Physical Graffiti.

The peaks they hit are insane - and numerous. And their other songs are so so good. As Jack Black said at the hall of fame induction 'Best band ever!'
