I feel you on this one. I'm glad that you found solace and healing in such a beautiful, tender Led Zeppelin song. This one touches me on so many levels as well. I that hope you continue to see and come to the light, as I trust your Dad would want of you.

Great reaction. This song is one of my favorites from this album. What I find interesting is that critics say that Led Zeppelin did not make progressive rock, yet this song, along with Kashmir and no quarter from the previous album are some of the most progressive rock songs ever made. Also, I want to state that John Paul Jones is genius.

To me, JPJ with the mellotron is trying to create a sound like Uilleann pipes or Scottish bagpipes....with that underlying drone that is so hypnotic to me. I LOVE that sound. It also has a North African feel with the scales used....Like Kashmir, it highlights the large influence that the music of Morocco and North Africa and India had on Plant and Page. The beginning of the song is one of my favorite parts of the Zeppelin catalogue.

I think I read that this was Plant or maybe Jones favorite song off the album. I can see why. That drone intro is hypnotic. It does sound like bagpipes or some sort of Indian or Arabian instrument. Actually, I think it might be mimicking the sound of the shenai, which is an Indian instrument. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y66nxdtpetPTkqg.html

In My Time of Dying is a must for sure, there are so many songs. But really, songs like Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll are the entry points to Led Zeppelin. From there you can explore In My Time of Dying, Ten Years Gone(!!), The Battle of Evermore, Nobody's Fault But Mine, How Many More Times, Going to California, That's The Way, Gallow's Pole, Bron -Yr-Aur Stomp, Ramble On, The Lemon Song, The Rover, Custard Pie, The Rain Song, The Song Remains The Same... etc etc etc. Soooo many. The first 5 or six albums are flawless really. And always do studio versions first then live. Just my opinion. Enjoy the ride. So jealous.

I kid you not. This for me personally is the heaviest drumming I have ever heard on record.....If anyone disputes this - please tell me what group + track beats this. If you did all the Zep albums, you woukd rarely find a bad song. There's few band like them. The quantity and quality of their songs is limitless.

Mi canción favorita de Led Zeppelin, y creo que es de las canciones más infravaloradas de su historia. ¡Es hermosa! Saludos, gran vídeo. 🇲🇽

Good lord…I’ve been in awe of this tune for over 40 years and I’m never ever tired of it. John Paul Jones, right? Who else??? All their fellow contemporaries heard this, shook their heads and said: “What the fk do you expect me to do with THIS?” Zeppelin were singular…and way out of reach to all other competitors.
