Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

It's curious that "How Many More Times" was supplanted by "Whole Lotta Love" in Zep's concert setlists after the latter was released. The reason had to be that time didn't allow for both, and "Whole Lotta Love" quickly morphed into the "Let That Boy Boogie" medley that became a standard for a few years. They did roll "How Many More Times" back out for the early part of the 1975 tour to replace "Dazed And Confused" when the latter was dropped because Jimmy Page was playing with a broken finger. But what a rocker! Peace.

"How Many More Times", ends with the same riffs as it begins with. Yet, after the opening riffs, etc., there are several different harmony & and melody riffs, etc., until the closing riffs... A lot of power, hypnotics, heavy metal, stoner (420) rock. There is more change-ups in this track, then "Stairway to heaven" I'm a senior rocker who served six years in the Santa Monica Unified school Districts Concert Orchestra, so I appreciate all manner of music, I critique it, and for a few years when I was a teen, I performed with the combined Concert Orchestra in front of ten thousand fans at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Listening to rock albums at home or performing Bach...they both are equally a Rush!

Yes, they go from "No Place to Go" (Howlin' Wolf 1954) to "Beck's Bolero" (Jeff Beck 1966) to "Kisses Sweeter than Wine" (Jimmie Rodgers 1957) to "Steal Away" which Plant had sung on (Alexis Korner 1968) to "the Hunter" (Albert King 1967).

I remember my brother getting this for Christmas in 69 and he went and picked it out before we all got up to open presents and played the entire album low enough but everybody could hear it. We were a family of 10 and I was 9 years old and was blown away by commando drums and Page's guitar works, and then bring in that brilliant voice of Plant. And on the intro to Your time is Gonna Come is epic from Jonesy. Black Mountain Side - WHEW and then seeing the album cover the next morning, was already indoctrinated for the next generation of ROCK.

This is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs to play on drums. After 30 years of honing my skills I can say with full confidence that I CAN PLAY EVERY SONG BY LED ZEPPELIN AND ITS ALL FROM MEMORY. I started learning when I was 16 and my friend took away my slave drum pedal so I couldn't cheat and use a double bass pedal to recreate Bonzos incredible pedal play. Now I can play those bass notes with left or right. It took everything and millions of hours of practice to be able to say I'm one of very few drummers that can mimic John Bonham flawlessly.
