57 here and one of the high points of my life was the day Robert Plant walked into the Bodhi Tree Bookstore while I was working there in the mid 90's. Dressed all in black, still rocking those curls. OMG so fine. I shooed away the girl working the cash register so I could take his money. He was polite and upbeat, very kind to me even though he must have known I was freaking out inside! I'll never forget it. :D

From an “old lady” who lived that music back in the day, it gives me goose bumps that you got goose bumps!!! Those songs are packed with memories of a lifetime for me and its thrilling to see the reaction of a decades younger person. It truly was a time of pure raw talent-far removed from the manufactured pop bull shit of today. You could HEAR the drums, you could HEAR the base, you could FEEL the voice, you could HEAR AND FEEL the talent of each musician’s contribution, which cumulatively...was fkng magical. The band was more than a sound, it was an experience!!!!

To be able to see you catch every single hook and monster move in real time that I've been digging for 40+ years - and be wise enough to throw down and give it up for them - I gotta respect you. It was a joy to watch you experience it thinking - he has no idea where this song is going to go. And going back to experience it again - nope further back. You matched my goosebumps exactly. It was 1969 - find a live concert of this song from that year, I think you'll be surprised how Jimmy got some of those trips guitar sounds! You're way too smart for me not to sub you. I don't seem to recall Led Zeppelin ever releasing a bad song . Keep in mind, they were only around for 10 or 12 years and they released music that sounded like this. Some harder tracks, some folky tracks, all soul and blues, great guitar and a great rhythm section. Inspiring generations of rock and metal bands to pick up instruments over the past 50 years.

They were heavily influenced by southern blues music. Later they also incorporated tribal music into their catalog. The drummer is considered one of the top drummers of all time, the late John Bonham. Jimmy Page is the guitar god, John Paul Jones was a master bass guitar maestro and Robert Plant was given the voice of what I would imagine an angel would sound like. No disrespect to the Beatles but Zepp is my favorite musicians to come out of the UK, hell they are my favorites from anywhere.

EXCELLENT choice for intro to Led Zeppelin. When they do that song live, it can last for up to almost 30 minutes depending on how the vibe is going on stage. They take that song wherever they want and then bring it back to the chorus anytime. Next for Led Zeppelin, I recommend "When the Levee Breaks" from Led Zeppelin IV.

The final amazing thing about this song is how much it was despised by the critics. It's from their first album, and from the first NOTE, the critics just _hated_ Led Zeppelin. They called them decadent, that they were desecrating the blues, it was a travesty. It was almost across the board, maybe one or two guys thought they were okay. This was on _both_ sides of the pond. _(Rolling Stone_ would not stop slagging on them.) Zeppelin is an incredible success story because they became the biggest band in the world despite having almost no support from the rock critics. Instead, they toured incessantly, over and over, starting with vans and ending up with their own plane, and they won over the world through sheer force of will and their presence. They just kept at it, and got the gold ring.

I might be mistaken but I believe that's how they chose their band name as well. A critic from one of their early shows wrote that it "went over like a lead zeppelin." Not a very nice thing to say about a band in case you're too young to get the reference.

Also check out Prince performing The Beatles While my Guitar Gently Weeps (a personal favorite) we forget that Prince was a musical genius on many levels and that he played guitar like it was not even a thought to him, that performance took my breath away for a while. I wonder how many of these brothers know about Led Zep putting some Lord of the Rings in their music?

Nice job on the reaction. Now tackle When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin. Incredible blues vibe with a killer harmonica and a groove that will stay with you forever.

and those drums on When the Levee Breaks will give you more than goose bumps. The thump of those drums - you'll feel like someone is performing CPR on you.

Daemon Blackfyre 2.0 Your interventions were absolutely perfect, I guess you caught the bluesy feeling in all corners ... from this point on, I'll add you in my favourite. Your heart tracked all better than the British critics, when this album was released. APPLAUSE 👏👏👏

This was their 1st LP. They were a "super group", everybody outstanding. And yes, the drummer John Bonham, safe to say one of the 5 best rock drummers ever
