LED vs OLED: Which TV is best? | Crutchfield

Ғылым және технология

OLED and LED TVs use different technology to produce the picture on your TV, and there are some important things to consider when you're shopping for them. In this video, we'll get into what makes the two types of TVs different, what are their strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately, which one is right for you.

OLED TVs at Crutchfield: www.crutchfield.com/i-rYTVc2R...
In a nutshell, the difference between the two is how they are lit. LED TVs use LEDs to light up and dim portions of the screen, while OLED TVs use the pixels themselves to do it. This allows OLED TVs to display deeper blacks and more vibrant colors.
As time goes along, though, the differences between the two become smaller. Today's OLED TVs are brighter than before, while LED TVs offer picture quality that is closer than ever to that offered by an OLED set.
When you're shopping one against the other, it's important to consider the level of ambient light in the room the TV will be. In a darker room, an OLED TV offers the best picture quality available. In a brighter room, an LED TV will be bright enough to overcome that ambient light, while an OLED could struggle somewhat during portions of the day.

I owned oled and led don't matter how long I watched or played games on oled never hurt my eyes not only that it's studding beautiful colors. If you can afford if find a deal and go for oled you won't regret it

Why should an organic material last as long as LED? Under same circumstances the LED lasts way more hours...

I'm finally ready to upgrade from an old 1080p SD to 4K UHD. We can barely see anything in dark scenes during shows like The Book of Boba Fett. Right now I'm focusing on the 55" LG LED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV, but I'm also thinking about LG 55" Smart OLED 4K UHD TV with HDR. The living room has lots of windows with plenty of light all day (the blinds and curtains help), and at night its sorta dark in the room. The seating is a large L shape sectional that does not go out too far off center. What's the deal with LG's NanoCell Display? Is it worth the jump in price?

Nanocell technology does help with color accuracy when sitting off axis. Based on your description of the seating area that, it sounds like you don't need this technology. As long as that is the only difference in the TV's you are considering, you can get the one without it since your TV viewing will be more direct viewing and not off-axis viewing

OLED's are nice....but they cost 5x as much as LED's. You can get 65" LED's for like $300 but a 65" OLED will cost you $1500. I'm just going to get an LED now and pick up and OLED in a few years when prices are much lower.

They don’t cost 5x as much for good TVs. If you only have 300 to spend you don’t even need to watch this video. Good mid level OLEDs are quite close in price now to quality LED sets.

What I’ve noticed since I have both, is I played my Xbox on the OLED then after a year or so I decided to hook the Xbox up to the LED tv in my bedroom and it was jarring… I think if you’ve never owned an OLED it’s not noticeable per say, but once you make the jump it makes it difficult to go back….

OLED FHD or LED UHD ? which one would you recommend?

  • @crutchfield

    @crutchfield

    8 ай бұрын

We believe you mean Full HD which refers to 1080P resolutions. We have not seen an OLED TV with only 1080P resolution in years and it is likely to no longer be working as well as it did when it was released making it not a good buy. That being said, if someone is still make OLED models with only 1080P resolution, it may still be a good idea to use the comparison points in this video as peoples experience of the panel differences is often more noticeable than the resolution differences

@@crutchfield Thank you for replying. You're right. The TV I'm considering to buy is 2018 model LG FHD OLED 55EG9A7V. The other 55' option I'm considering is XIAOMI A2, which is UHD but with LED panel. Both cost almost the same. So according to your suggestion, I guess the LG is still a better buy.

If you can, try and see them in person to ensure your getting the picture you like best. From there, you'll want to be sure that each model has the inputs/compatibility with your other components.
