Just got mine in today from amazon, gonna hook it up in a bit and see how she runs tonight.. Soo far just looking at it the build quality seems pretty solid. The one i got is 350w output @40w. Supposed to be 4300 or 4800 lumen. Same brand and same price so i went with a brighter one

PA Farms dude my sensor is on top. I installed mine and it was cycling on and off non stop. After reading thought the reflective light was triggering it. The one i got is 40w=350w output with 4800 lumen. It is bright!! Was same price as yours. Came up with a solution by taking a bottle cap, drilling a hole and placing it over sensor so light only hits from the top. Ill post a vid up and link it to u

how is you right holding up after 4 years?

Predrill the holes with a drill bit and the bolts go in much easier.

I put up 1. The screws would go in quicker. If you drill holes where you want to mount it.

These LEDs seem pretty nice! I’m going to buy some to try them out.

No impact here either , did mine just like you did . But you did not show us your wiring hookup ....... mine has green, white , and black . But my house wire had a black and white , but no green so what's up ? Everything is not always common sense to the rest of us . I have this exact light and let me tell you I had a 250 w bulb exterior light that I replaced and this new 35w light is much brighter than my old light . I taped up my green wire and will turn it into a ground tomorrow . So far thumbs up on this light . An only cost me less than $35 ......

Did you know if the photocell can be replaceable? Mine stay on during daylight.

Was looking at HD website and theyre $65. Thought id check amazon and found the same one you have.ill definately get it from there for $30 a pop. May get 2 for my other old halogen light in my back yard.

No you shouldn’t, the light has flanges to lag it to the building

I converted my mercury vapor lamp to use a LED "Corncob" bulb. I found a video on how to do it. It does involve taking the ballast out.of the lamp and wiring directly to socket. Its easier and safer to do it with the lamp on the ground. Now I have a 5,000 lumen backlight that shines further because of the corn bulb. This lamp here has a non replaceable bulb. I wanted one I could replace the bulb if it should fail due to a power spike or age.

its because its a chinese pile of junk.. Do yourself a favor and find a new old stock made in the USA Mercury vapor or High pressure sodium lamp.. those will last 20 years. i bought two on ebay for $60 a peice..

What kind of wire did you use?

So what do you thing about it, after the elapsed time? Did it meet your expectations and brought in better budgeting?

I think it was on Amazon. I’m not sure anymore what brand it was. I will say I’m pretty happy with it so far. Has been up about 6 months and no issues yet. I would just do an Amazon search. They have lots listed

It isnt that impressive to me.. 35w LED is around 3600 lumens, LED average is around 104 per watt. High pressure sodium lights actually get the same Lumens per watt as an LED.. LED lights arent anymore energy efficient than an HPS bulb.. the reason why LED is better, is because the white light is more visible to the human eye.. This is why I'll stick with my two 175w mercury vapor lamps they put off white light, their up 30 ft on my utlility pole and with new bulbs they put out about 16k lumens together.. but its white light.. much more visible than a high pressure sodium light.., they light up everything in a 300 diameter circle..... yes 300 ft.. I can see the tree line in all directions. Yes thats 300w of power, to equal 16k lumens on a LED youd need around 150w of actually power draw.. but an LED doesnt have the ability to spread light out in a circle like my older Mercury vapor bulbs do. LED are directional.. they point down or point where you point the light.. and you need a really good diffuser to spread the light out in a circle, this is why LED street lights have to be aimed to get light where you want it.. LED are nice but it isnt worth the energy savings to me when it comes to out door lighting. id save 150w of power, but that 150w 10 hours a day for 1 year is only 64$ a year in savings.. A true 150w led "barn type" lamp is expensive.. It would take 3-5 years to pay itself off in energy savings. The other issue here is LED chinese fixtures are not known for reliability..

I have a mercury vapor 170 watt bulb that is replaceable. What are you doing to do with what you just installed when it doesn't light up. You can't screw in a new bulb to see if that is why it's not lighting up or if it's a bad ballast like mine has. At low's I paid 32.00 bucks for my replacement unit, the old bulb from the lamp that is up there is still good. My mercury vapor that is up there right now lights when it's warm out but not cold out. I replaced the day / night sensor but that didn't help it, so now I'll have a spare sensor when I put the new light up. I suspect the ballast is bad in the light that is up there now and for $32.00 after 8 years of usage is an ok price and worth while to change the fixture. It the light still does not light up after changing them out, then I'll buy a new bulb. But right now since when the bulb does light up it comes on and stays on, so it's not a suspect at this time. I find that after about 8 years traditional mercury vapor lights go bad, which is still a good run for the money in my opinion. They hang out in the weather etc.. Mine is attached near the roof on a rounded pipe over my six car garage. I love how it softly lights up in a bluish light the entire parking lot. Is enough to see by but not real bright that is bothers the neighbors since it's lit all night long. What a great invention for the cost of not only buying the fixture but also the little bit of electric it uses and how far it sheds it's light.

Pete_ Hine_Of_PA I would replace the bulb for starters. The ballast will usually last a very long time on mercury vapor lights. I say this because I have one that is 24 years old and another, a reactor ballast, that is 40 years old on a 250 watt, 240 volt lamp. Try the bulb.

After my first comment back to you, I I think in June or July, I went to Low's and purchased a new Mercury Vapor Bulb and it worked until just a day or so ago. I put in my test bulb that came on when it felt like it and it lit up, so I took the Low's bulb back to Low's and exchanged it for a new bulb. The new bulb 175 watt is working good at least for the time being. They also had 400 watt there too. Do the 400 watt bulbs last longer or do they simply use more power and make more light? If this bulb blows out in the sight of 2.5 months to 3 months or so, I think I'll replace the entire unit with a different type of unit all together. I thought Mercury Vapor bulbs last for years, not months. Do you have any thoughts on what I've written here? I value your opinion and appreciate your reply's, I forward what I know to people who ask as well, is what is nice about KZread.... Thanks again for your reply and your opinion. My Ballast is fairly new so I would imagine it's magnetic. I hear it's rare they go bad, the head / ballast is about 12 years old. Thanks again.

If it doesn’t come on when it’s cold, you’re probably using a 175 watt metal halide bulb, and the OCV from a mercury ballast isn’t enough to actually run metal arc lamps. Replace the bulb with a new 175 watt mercury vapor bulb and it should run fine. Once the color of light starts to turn green, replace the bulb.

35w is probably around 3600 lumens... 25w is 2600 lumens.. LED lumens depend on the light color. the lower temp the LED the less efficient it is. But 2600 per 25w is about average.. thats around 106 lumens per watt. , to equal a 175w mercury vapor bulb with 9000 lumens, you need about a 90w LED. a high pressure sodium bulb of 150w is around 16k lumens.. So for an LED to equal that you need 160 watts. LEDs are not anymore energy efficient than a orange high pressure sodium bulb. HOWEVER the white light is more easily visible to the human eye than the orange light, this is why LED is better..

What the hell is America coming to ? Years ago these barn lights were great and last 20 years , now they are junk and don't last one year. I bought one from Lowe's and it comes on and off all night long.

thats why i bought a New old stock Mercury Vapor lamp... Made in the USA.. The thing should last 20 years... The old mercury vapor its replacing was 40 years old... lol the 2nd one next to it still works.. put a new bulb in and it lights up everything in a 250-300 foot diameter circle.. Id love to see a $100 LED chinese fixture do this lol... LED are directional they cant light up things 360 degrees without some really really good reflector/diffusors

Light pollution sucks. Get a night scope for your AR. Don’t forget the warning labels telling the crooks youve got night vision sniper rifle…gotta beware of those lawyer types for deceased bad guys’ families
