    Anglo Saxon.. 1066-1400 Norman invasion. French...elites Lang. Common people.. middle eng .. In mid of 14 c eng ... Official Lang. Straight,blunt talk... common people. Refinement..fr french. Poetry of Chaucer..1340.. Greatest poet of middle eng. Romance stories told in tale ... The Knight stars.. Arthur. Canterbury tales...tales in verse(17000)..+ 2 stories in prose. Canterbury (England) 2+2 stories every one will tell. 29+poet =30 people *4=120 stories were to be told. Metres came to English fr French. 2metres=1foot Dev of literature during this period: Short tales in verse.. Romance ..longer story..related to elite..their were high class people..princes, warriors etc. Histories, Chronicles,... history of England.. 1.Robert of gluster 2.Robert Manning of brouny..story of England, handlyng syn.. Ormulum.by.orm (1200) Didactic poem: the owl and Nightingale (anonymous) Cursonemunde.. all Bible stories. Gwayne.. Romance s ..King horn Havelock the Dan. Marc de Arthur.. Religious rightings.. Virgin Mary.. cuckoo's song. Prose was second choice.. Ancrene rieval .. Ernest hemming way ..learned my style fr Bible(20th c writer) Kings James Bible ..mid English. ??? (1558-1603 queen Elizabeth)

    I'm great full to the team of the CEC UGC for conducting such a wonderfully English literature series in a very meaningful and understandable way to all of us. I just like to say if still such lecture series would come out from your side and help us to know more about literature. Another think I would like articulate is, if the professor elaborates more and enlightens with more examples of the content and context of subject will be more benefited a lot. Thanking you a lot
