Lectric XP 2.0 - How To ADJUST Your BRAKES
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here I will show you how to adjust the Tektro disc brakes on the Lectric XP 2.0 and explain exactly what your brakes are doing when you pull on your brake lever.
When your brakes are rubbing and making noises it can be super annoying and cause them to wear out quickly.
Keeping your brakes properly adjusted will give you more range on your ebike and make it easier to ride!

Adjusting brakes can be a tricky business. Make sure never to put your fingers near the rotor when the wheel is spinning!!

Excellent video sir! Very clear explanations of exactly how it all works - very easy to follow. I did these adjustments on my new electric trike and what an amazing difference. Even the bike shop mechanic couldn't manage to get rid of the noises, but your perfect descriptions were so easy to understand, follow and carry out. Thanks and well done!!!
Well done, I have watched a few videos on brake adjustments; urs by far is the best one as you have explained in practice the fundamentals firstly to understand the concept and then proceeded to action the concept. Fantastic video
Always informative and easy to understand videos! Thank you so much! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Went to REI today, got told they're "not taking any service requests" at the bike shop. This video helped me get my rear brake biting again, thanks again man your content is golden!
Great video. Thanks for breaking things down so simply for me to understand. Now I am off to adjust my brakes.
excellent description and filming. Very helpful, THANKS!!
Never worked with this type of brake before so your video was super helpful on all the adjustment points and things to look out for. Keep up the good work.
I really like how you explain inch by inch on every step on all your Tutorials keep those Pedal knowledge clicking great job my friend
Good job explaining brake adjustments. Thanks!
I'm a 54 year old woman who isn't even technical savvy and not very industrious and this video was very descriptive so much that I adjusted both the left and right side breaks on my XP 2.0 Lectric bike about 10 minutes ago. I live in Orlando Florida and ride this bike twice a week, to one of my jobs which is 19 mi away so 38 mi total to and from and the right, rear brakes have been not working for at least a month now and the left brakes were barely working before I did this very easy adjustment which was explained slow and thorough just like I needed, LOL! Thank you and you probably saved me from getting in an accident because I have to go to work at this 19 Mile away job tomorrow morning and now I have rear brakes again so yay for that and hats off to you!

Awesome clear instructions. Thanks much!. My issue was not enough space around the rotor. I just wish the rear adjustment bolt was easier to get at on the Lectric bike. I had to loosen the retention bolts on the caliper to angle it to get at the bolt.

I saw the Tinkering Turtle adjusting the Tektro Aries brakes on a Himiway and it seems like a logical step-by-step way to do it. First tighten both barrel locks all the way, then tighten the cable at the caliper all the way, then back off a bit. It was very quick and easy to do on my Lectric 2.0.

Thank you for the informative video. Any suggestions if the caliper arm keeps getting stuck after applying the brakes?
Most outstanding.
Good video I just adjusted mine and it's pretty easy..next I would love to see a video on tightening to repairing a wobbly brake lever..mine feels a bit loose and wobbly 😄
Great video, very informative. I did all those adjustments but I still seem to be getting a drag on the front wheel of my XP, it doesn't seem to free wheel like it should any ideas? Bill

I love your videos I do have a question tho what is the best brake pads to get and what type of lubricant for the chain would you recommend and chain tighten tips ?
Appreciate the video. Do you have any issues getting to the inner pad adjuster with the p-handle wrench? With the motor back there, I really couldn't access it with an allen key. Basically lose the straight shot to the adjuster due to the motor. I was thinking it might be easiest just to get a low profile allen key for that problem
Awesome!
1000 thank you.

How do you get to that silver adjustment bolt on the back brakes on the 2.0 the motor is in the way of the adjustment bolt ?
Wow you saved me from going to bike shop and getting disappointed with my stupidity lol. Thank you!!
I read somewhere that the brake cable snapped while someone was riding almost causing an accident. How often should I replace the brake cable? I ride my XP a lot (commute and weekend riding) Can you post a how to? Thanks.
Curious about the 22 inch wheel setting. Could you clarify that 22 inch versus 20 inch as it is a 20 inch wheel, and how does this affect the other settings. Thanks again

It's to compensate for the 4" tire. If you change it, your speedometer and odometer will be slightly incorrect. You would only need to change it if you put much smaller tires on.
I can't get the 5mm onto the rear caliper inside adjustment. The motor hub is in the way. What's the trick to that without removing the rear wheel or rear caliper?
Hello, is there any way to do what you did at 8:15 to the back wheel's caliper without taking it off? The motor blocks it mostly, and I was able to do it once at a tough angle but would rather not try again due to the chance of stripping the bolt. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same
Are there better brand brake cables that stretch less that we should be ordering to replace the standard ones on our Lectrics?
@PedalWithPower
Жыл бұрын
Stainless steel, slick wound are the best. But all cables stretch a bit
Just got an e bke, man I feel helpless, I could tear down my BMX bikes and back together, but these breaks have me confused! I need to adjust the rear, it's rubbing, have to watch this a few more times
So I see there are cable hydraulic brakes are they worth the money. Would they be a worth while upgrade.

There are some that are really good. The $50 ones on Amazon are garbage. The only ones on Amazon that look decent are the Juin brand, but the are expensive. Origin8 and Crust Bikes Palm oil brakes are also very good and expensive. Not sure if they are really worth the price unless you are really having braking issues.
As someone that rides the XP 2.0 long range to and from work everyday, my brakes are fed up with me atm but I feel like tightening them will give me more time before needing a full on replacement 😭
Thanks for this VERY informative video. I am in NO ways mechanically inclined or knowledgeable. I had an issue with my brakes and was worried about when or how I was going to fix them, since bike shops won't work on e-bikes for liability reasons, and I had watched other videos and didn't really see anything that held my attention or sounded doable. Come to find out, that silver outside nut on the opposite side of the brake caliper needed tightened. My brakes went from no reaction (whether the back was tight or loose) to a nice strong grip . My only issue is, I can't quite reach the one in the back because the motor is in the way and I don't have a 5mm allen wrench that can get in there to turn that nut. Any suggestions?
