Incredible. What an atmosphere! As the sun painted the stones in its own color... The true essence of the Mediterranean.

Our cruise ship has a stop in Brindisi. How difficult or easy is it to get to Lecce from Brindisi to explore Lecce on foot and then return to our ship without risking missing the ship’s departure. Are there frequent trains coming and going between Brindisi and Lecce? Is the train station in Lecce close enough to the town center so we can just walk from the train station to see the Basilica and explore Lecce? Thank you so much for a fabulous video!

Thanks so much for watching my video! How long would you stop be in Lecce? The train ride between Brindisi and Lecce is about 30 minutes so if its a full day port its absolutely possible. The trains are quite frequent between the towns you mentioned but their frequency/reliability can depend on the season. Lecce train station is about a 10 minute walk from the main sights of the historical centre. I hope you have a lovely time!

Can you base yourself in Lecce and do day trips to beaches? Which beach towns are not too far to drive to?

  • @itssomethingaboutdavid

Yes absolutely! If you check my Postcard from Puglia video, all the beaches shown toward the end of that episode are places I went to from Lecce. Puglia is very drive-able, just need a good car and your GPS :)

yes, the nearest beach is only 5-10 minutes by car, and from the city you can also reach some of the best beaches in puglia (both on adriatic and ionian sea) in less than an hour
