A fun fact about psychology is that researchers have found that taking a "power pose" for just two minutes can actually increase testosterone levels and decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol, leading to increased feelings of confidence and reduced anxiety. This was first demonstrated in a 2010 study by Amy Cuddy and colleagues, and has since become a popular topic in popular psychology and self-help books.

I have a question, if psychology is a science then it must follow some laws, if it follows laws, it should be deterministic and absolute at some level. But psychologists can have disagreement overv an exact same, let's say postulate or theory, or over a same topic. So is psychology really science?
@flerex9867
Жыл бұрын
Psychology is considered a science because it follows the scientific method in its research and experiments to understand human behavior, mental processes, and emotions. However, unlike other scientific disciplines such as physics or chemistry, psychology deals with the complexities of human behavior and mental processes, which are not always predictable or absolute. Psychologists can have disagreements over theories and hypotheses because psychology deals with complex and varied human behaviors that can be influenced by various factors such as genetics, environment, culture, and individual differences. Therefore, psychology is not always deterministic or absolute, and there can be multiple perspectives and interpretations of the same phenomenon. However, despite these disagreements, psychologists still use empirical methods to test their hypotheses and theories and strive to develop a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and mental processes. This scientific approach distinguishes psychology from other fields that rely on subjective interpretations or beliefs.
