My two cents…. The mere fact that he is wearing the “Tiffany” op upside down, with his bucket hat, proves that Rolex put that watch on his wrist. There’s no doubt that he’s an industry plant! Probably gets his watches for free….. even though he’s got ridiculous money…. Just so Rolex gets cheap marketing, and hype

I thought the same when they announced they were changing it hadn't quite got it set up. The "set" is sterile and boring. The giant mics are ridiculous and detract. The way they are positioned you can only look off to one side, or focus in the middle and there is dead space in the middle. This is a bad set up. I'll leave Sam out of this, but this isn't good.

I’m a Celtics fan so not the biggest LeBron as a player fan but Christian saying he hates LeBron says more about Christian than LeBron. LeBron is a legendary athlete and an incredible philanthropist. Hating him because of his watches is just pitiful. Do better.

Accepting sponsorship/collaboration from Fake Fragrance (which are clones of real perfumes) is a bad business decision. The same argument they want you to use to justify their existence is the same reason people buy fake watches. "The same function for a fraction of the price." Being in any hobbyist space, you know this is never true. smh

He buys those rolexs for the price you buy casios, he can wear those watches as beater watch, 10k is not much for him. He wears them on some more casual places, and that's normal

and also... I normally love the topics on this channel but I don't think I'm on board with this episode. LeBron may not have the most considered or creative collection but it's his money and seems to enjoy wearing them. Isn't this all that counts for any collector (rich or poor)?

I think there should be one piece of content hearing Lebron’s take on watches and story of acquisition of some pieces before we assume his level of knowledge or understanding of what he owns. We have never heard him speak from a collectors point of view to really criticize how he looks at owning or acquiring pieces.

Sam, seems like a nice guy but doesn’t seem to know too much/is really just trying to not rock the boat/ agreeing with everything. Mike is a better balance

But he basically admitted in that video to having to not knowing that much about watches except for what, 'his team tells him'. And of course his team included the CEO (former) of Audemars Piguet. He's basically exactly what Christian is accusing LeBron James of being but he's open about it. And if I'm being honest, who cares? Watches are toys and guys with tons of money are allowed to like them for being shiny. In this T&H video they certainly sound like haters of LeBron James (I'm not the biggest fan) but at the same time are pumping up Jay Z (what a great collection) and Kevin Hart (same knowledge as LeBron imo) which is likely just an attempt to not look racist?

People like NBA super stars are soooooooo rich that it is really complex to understand why they do what they do. He could just be buying these watches for fun, because he is bored or for some other reason waaaaay less intricate than this conspiracy theory. These people love money - like we all do - but they do not really need to act like a planted live ad for these brands. They are just weird and do stuff because they can.

Maybe LeBron just likes watches, when you have that much money a $6000 OP is just like another G-Shock, which ‘collectors’ and ‘aficionados’ have plenty of in bright colors and love wearing out over more expensive pieces.

I disagree about the black panther watch. It was culturally significant movie for the African American community. People around the world from the African diaspora came together and watch this movie celebrating their heritage. You comment tells me your tone deaf to the significance of the movie, the moment, the character and the context of history. This tells me not only are you tone deaf. But AP was the one looking to capitalise on the moment. They saw a business opportunity and went for it. The thus secured the love of a community with a trillion dollars of spending power.

However, these athletes and money making guys like rappers just want to be seen with cool stuff, weird or main stream. They like it because it is cool, not necessarily as a passion purchase. Also, so many ppl are now aware of the fact that spending money on hot ticket items is an investment, athletes, rappers and superstars like we have seen with John Mayor, Ed Sheran, Kevin Hart even area all aware. If Lebron is paying to wear a watch, he likes the watch. It is ridiculous to think that watches are actually indicative of a person, they are Jewelry that makes us feel good which is probably why Lebron likes it as well. Even if he is payed to wear these watches, is that any more contradictory than Christian doing a Fake perfume ad, something I am willing to bet he does not wear and is at odds with his watch opinions? Let's just judge less.

I see where you’re coming from of course any brand would love to have one of the greatest to play the game be seen in their watch, but I disagree with this take. I was heavy into sneakers before getting into watches. You see someone wearing a great hype pair of sneakers they know very little about all the time. They may have seen it online or heard about it from a friend. It’s gate keeping to say “they don’t know as much as me or not an aficionado”. It’s ok for someone to buy a watch they like or recommended to them by their jeweler or AD without questioning their knowledge of watches.

Isn’t the through-line for the LeBron collection just hype-y watches. You harp on the fact he has OPs, but they are the hypiest of the OPs. I think your thoughts on this conspiracy theory are very legitimate. We know that the watch companies contacted people that were setting records at heavily publicized events such as swimming across the English Channel, flying across the across the Atlantic, climbing Mount Everest, etc (first wrist watch ambassadors), to show that certain brands were the best watches in terms as a tool. Then fast forward to the film industry maturing and the watch companies are getting product placement and then watch ambassadors in regular advertisements. Currently, we are in an era of social media and most of the public hates interrupting ads. Why not have product placement shown in the personal posts of celebrities similar to film

I'm surprised people haven't picked up on this much yet but I think LeBron probably got into watches as investments. Jay Z really changed the way a lot of hyper-rich people in and around hip-hop see watches, and I wouldn't be surprised if he suggested parking money in them to LeBron, and he wears them now because he thinks they're cool, but also like you said, to keep hype up and protect his investments. The Industry Plant conspiracy is possible sure, but I think it's more likely that one of his wealthy friends (which I'm sure he has a ton of, in and outside of the NBA) told him about how much money there is to be here. Most of what LeBron does revolves around money and I don't see why this would be an exception.

Selling sunset is one example of this. I think some of these celebrities have little to no collection at all and waking around with a variety of nice ones. while others have massive collections.
