Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses? The Only Promise You Need to Consider

Despite claims to the contrary, many Jehovah’s Witness that leave the ‘organization’ continue to hold onto Christian beliefs. They leave with fear that they not only lost their family, friends and religion… but God himself. We take a look at the power of promises… and an overlooked Biblical guarantee that proves you can dump the Governing Body… and continue your relationship with God.

I left with my children’s support. None of my other family members were Witnesses; so that softened the blow. However, it took almost the same length of time that I studied and became a Witness, to come to a place of confidence that it wasn’t the Truth-13+ years in and 10+ years out. I discovered the EXJW folks on KZread about 2 years ago. That’s what helped to build my confidence that I made the right choice.

Interesting to hear your take on the scriptures… you read everything through watchtower glasses. Now I know why it’s so difficult talking to JWs … every major doctrine… they will use the same words, but apply different meanings to those words. Now I know why they think Christians are so dumb, they’ve been told twisted versions of reality. Of course.

I love your podcast it’s like therapy for me. This is how I’m healing. It’s hard but I’m coping and moving on with my life. I am a former elder for 5 years, ministerial servant for 3 years, regular pioneer for two years and I was once a husband to a believing wife. Gave many talks on assemblies and conventions. I lost it all. I had to leave. It’s extremely difficult to leave. Was a PIMO for two years but couldn’t do it anymore. The most heart wrenching one was losing my marriage. But I rather live an authentic life even if it cause me pain.

Much love to you and keep up the courage! It takes time. I lost my marriage and also my brother too. It was a real heartbreak. Until I discovered these healing podcasts, I shut it all out through the years and lived on automatic. With this help, I’ve been able to truly grieve, comment, go through the grief stages, laugh a lot more and I am healing. Hang in there. Feel your feelings one by one. The walls come tumbling down. Life is beautiful outside the Tower. ❤

I think walking away from watchtower is easier today then it was 25 years ago when I left. No internet in the mid-90's. Back then, there was no support outlet, and I felt isolated and on my own. Plagued by guilt, confusion and second thoughts, I had no one to turn too. Now it seems, the path out the door is paved and well lit. Not so in my day.

I started studying in 1994 and got baptized in 95. Being raised Episcopalian, I had no idea what was in the Bible. So when I studied with the witnesses, I thought I was really understanding the Bible and I was so grateful to them. Early on, someone handed me a book and told me I should look into this religion. Of course I was a good little hypnotized zombie for the watchtower, and I dutifully rejected the information. So now I'm 60 years old, and I'm trying to put all that behind me and enjoy life while I can. But I do think that we're here to learn something, and so maybe the decades that I spent in that org will actually have taught me something when I leave here. I don't know.

Eine Antwort in Goethe’s Sprache?:) I m relating to the difficulty to leave in the pre-internet time. I left in the mid 80s. Had been an elder for 15 years. Born-in, I admit I had a good time as a jw kid and young man. Loving parents. It was my comfort zone. My only problem, by time, was the obligation to believe and teach doctrines and stories which made no sense regarding the progress of scientific and historical knowledge. Nobody to speak to and to share my doubts with them. Waiting for a new elder to come to the congregation, I was the only one:) Schizophrenic situation. Also feeling I would lose my marriage. On the other hand, watching the internet does not help every time, the reasons why pimos leave are so different, I m not sure you find the best cure for the inevitable pain of leaving your community. My personal mental cure was leaving my town, moving to another country and culture, divorce and starting a new episode of my life, new job, new wife, children…

Almost twenty years have passed since my own disfellowshipping, and I have not set foot in a kingdom hall since 2010, and am all the better for it. Your concluding thoughts on Romans 8:38, 39 I found to be most strengthening and a real expression of the love you have for all your listeners. I deeply appreciate your bringing those verses to our attention. I continue to be a believer both in Yahweh and the Bible, but I have found that I still feel a very strong bond with you. We can have different points of view on these matters and still treat each other with the respect, and dare I say, love we all deserve. He did not open his Bible, instead he directed me to the Watchtower, this is where I should look for answers. This set me back thinking, "what? I didn't say anything else to him. He didn't realize it but he just pulled out another brick in the wall. I wanted and expected an answer from the Bible, a scripture at least, not just the Watchtower written by the Governing Body. @christinesotelo7655 You must have this foundation; otherwise, the Great Waves will wash you away. You will feel overwhelmed. Your life will be overtaken, and you will be left destitute and subject to very dark influences in the world and even from beyond the world. Again, the difficulty of the times is the perfect opportunity for you to reconnect with your life, to build your Four Pillars, to reestablish your integrity, to take determined action and to learn to be courageous and objective. It is not about perception here, whether you are loving or fearful. It is really about whether you are wise or unwise, whether you are responsible or irresponsible. Do not hold yourself apart and think it is all about perception. The Great Waves are far more powerful than you are. You will not alter them with your affirmations or your declarations. But you can learn to mitigate them, to adapt to them, to use them to your advantage and to use them to be of assistance to others. The human need around you will be immense-greater than any world war it will be. And you will have to be prepared to take care of people, people you do not even know perhaps, and to assist others in ways that will be new for you and unexpected. There will be great shortages of food and in some places great shortages of water. Your energy resources will become precious, difficult and expensive to gain access to. There will be political and economic instability, and there will be much civil unrest in many places in the world. This is the world you have come to serve, and the more you are connected to Knowledge within yourself, the more you will gain this recognition, which will quiet your fears and your anxiety and affirm your strength and your great Source and all of the meaningful relationships that are here to serve and to assist you.

Thank you Stacy. This is very very close to my heart. I strongly believe that Exjw should not seek to pull the rug out from under JW. ****offer them hope and comfort!**** My favourite promise is here 1 John 5: 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” That you may KNOW you HAVE eternal life ❤️❤️❤️ God is faithful in his promises ❤❤❤

Thank you for another EXCELLENT video! I'm sure that many folks will find it very COMFORTING! I left the org 25 years ago, and I still find myself with old conditioning & beliefs that I need to examine, defuse, and throw off. I found that the Conversations With God books by Neale Donald Walsch were a big help in my having a much more expanded and appealing view of God. I also find the numerous KZread interviews re: near death experiences (NDE) to be very compelling. They offer a peek at a much more loving Universe and a loving God. Even while I was an uber-devout JW, I found that the religion did not support me in believing that God loved me, or that I was good enough. And I dearly wanted to know that God loved me and approved of me! Nowadays, I view Jehovah as being an ancient tribal god of the Isrealites... his warring, jealous nature suited the more brutal thinking of the time. Years later, Jesus came, with truths & principles to share that were more loving and freeing. I still care about pleasing God. I just don't think that God is Jehovah. I believe that God is much more than that - he's a loving, gigantic, Creative Source - and that he has given us the gift of free choice, so that we can also be creative, and create our best lives. I am so grateful to have my freedom to do that. 🙂 Thanks for all of your efforts in making your videos - they are so helpful and much appreciated!!

I agree with you! It is so good to be able to grow in our concepts of God rather than having to stay in a box. I too, love the NDEs. My mom had had an NDE, I also many years later, and am thoroughly comforted. I had to be blood transfused a long time ago and was so grateful I could save my life which is precious, because it was no longer dictated to me by men that I would be destroyed by “Jehovah” if I chose to live. ❤

I was a baptised witness who left over 20 years ago, all my family were and most still are in it, mum, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins etc and relations were really affected by leaving with my parents only keeping a "minimal" relationship, now I'm mid 40's with 3 young kids really needing support that's not there, to make it worse my nana who recently passed away at 98 pioneered most of her life and I dread to think how much she left in her will to these men and this sect, not only did this organisation take away the physical, mental and emotional support from my life they also likely took away possible financial support that I could really have done with, despite the difficulties it's the best decision I ever made and happier for it, I hope I'm around long enough to witness the downfall of this dangerous cult and hopefully be a part of the downfall, I will have a party the day it does

Seeing how this promise has no way to confirm it just like the rest of the Bible, you can apply it any way you like just like any other scripture. No Way to prove it’s true, no way to prove it’s false. You can believe anything with faith, it is therefore meaningless. And a meaningless promise. It can perhaps be a crutch to help lead you out of the cult. But hopefully you will kick it away with all the rest of the empty promises when your ready
