Back in the '70s, there weren't much mention of pandas IIRC, they might have been in the pictures, but they never caught my eye if they were there. I was going to have a black panther!

You are quite correct pointing out all the terrible doctrine of JW's not making any sense. The very sad part is that many ex jw's end up thinking the Bible or belief in God is quackery. I was raised JW but after leaving that, i really found God in his word and it was a compete 180, not a psychological experience. So I hope others would at least be a little more open about it. Jehovahs witness are not Christian at all, maybe legalistic pharisees at best. 😊

If you’re not familiar, it was a small white jar that had a sticker in the bottom of the inside that said “Oops! You let it out!” 😂 He spent far too much time trying to put real ones in that container! LOL 😂 Great memories!

This really hit the nail on the head! I vividly remember in the early 70s listening to a talk at a circuit assembly and the guy addressed the little kids direct by saying, "if you are about to start school, you won't leave school.... school will leave you!!!!" Those kids grew up, left school and had kids of their own who left school !!! How can people keep waiting? I loved your analogy of the endless film that was listed at 2 hours long. For me, I always felt it was like waiting for a bus that didn't show up, but you felt you couldn't leave the bus stop because the minute you did, the bus would come and you would be trudging in the rain and it would go past without you! But eventually you know that bus ain't coming and you have to get to where you're going under your own steam. It's a frighteningly hard decision to make, but after leaving I learnt more about this religion than I ever did when in it, especially about the earlier false prophecies from this organisation. I know from my own personal experience the excitement in the 70s and now it's 2023! I also appreciated your thoughts on Satan being hurled down to us by a "loving" creator to cause havoc! What loving parent could do such a thing, knowing the evil cruelty that would follow such an act? When critical thinking kicks in, this is the sort of thought you ultimately end up with! !!! Anyway, thank you for this podcast with such meaty contact, well seasoned with humour and sarcasm! Oh and I hope Stanley has found himself a nice rock bed to snuggle down in, with his own kind! Speaking of bus, here’s an amusing yet sad anecdote: I’m a child of the 60/70s and I recall since way back when , a certain JW brother in my neighborhood who probably fancied himself a Last Days apostle Paul or perhaps likened himself a modern day ‘prophet’ of sorts. He literally spent years and DECADES doing street corner witnessing at the bus stop. You’d see him out there practically every day, seriously, for decades, at the bus stops, living a humble life of self-denial in order to earnestly follow the urgings of the Watchtower Society, that The End was so soon, so imminent that little else mattered except witnessing & warning. He never bought a car, never pursued any type of career, never got married, etc. I hear he’s still alive but very, very old now of course. The ‘bus’ / The End never came. I wonder how he and others like him feel now. It’s really sad to see all the old-timers, our grandparents and parents, all gone now, disappointed that they didn’t see The End come as promised by Watchtower.

I remember at 9 years old, hearing about some Parents who took their children out of school because they were moving to remote areas to go preaching that Armageddon was coming... This was in 1974... Wasted lives...😰 I'm doing okay, no pity please. But, undoubtedly, could've been sooo much better had I not bought into the mid-80s Armageddon craziness and instead pursued a full college education. My Parents were as they continue to be today, hook-line-and-sinker, and I was fully dependent on them, so I had to leave it once I got an Associate's Degree...😖 It could've been sooo much better. F🤬🤬🤬 the WTBTS!!!

That's only if you don't believe in the trinity. Because if they are the trinity, they are the same, right? But being spirit creatures, no one really knows their real nature. I don't think Jesus or Jehovah gives a rat's a$$ if we think they're separate or not. Our human mind is too finite on infinite subjects. Going to a Jesuit college, I tried to wrap my JW mind around it. I even stumped a couple of priests lol

My sister told me during the Co-vid lock-downs that this was it, she had all the evidence she needed that Armagedon was on it's way. I thought well this is my chance too free her from her indoctrination. I asked if if Co-Vid passed and Armagedon did not come, would she remain a JW? But she said she would becuse the Great Tribulation has to arrive first. Loved your analogy of 'watching a movie', keep up the good work.

You can remind your sister that after the tribulation, Christ returns, then about a thousand years after that, there will be a short battle in a place called Armageddon. The battle there will be over quickly when God sends down fire from heaven to devour His enemies, Those gathered there at Armageddon, who have come to make war with the Lamb. Not the worldwide catastrophic event taught by Watchtower.

Loved it Stacy another great one. I was always told I would never die, I would live forever , that I probably never have kids in this system. Now at over 40... I'm probably closer to my death than living forever. 🤣🤣🤣. I try to tell my child the truth about life and I hope she's more aware to the fact that she needs to enjoy HER life.

Pushing the “end” is a business model! History showed that donations went up when they highlighted the last days and the end. However it is interesting to know that on June 30 , 1914 they founded the International Bible student Association in Great Britain. And remember the end was suppose to come! I found out about Pet Rock thanks to this episode, what a crazy marketing idea :O We didn't have such great toys in Poland :D Stacey entertains and teaches :D I hope your Stanley is somewhere safe and someone is looking after him ;) As for the last days, it would be much more meaningful if the sign of the last days was NO famine, war, pestilence or death.

It would have been truly profound if Jesus would have fortold much more specific things unique to a specific time period. I remember the pet rock craze here in USA. There was also another very clever marketing ploy at that time too. Simply marketed as a small device that would allow you to secretly see through doors at any time night or day without being detected. 😆 It was the peep-hole ! (Never in the ad was it mentioned what it actually was or that it had to be installed in specific doors)

I wasn't born until 1975 (The year the JW's said Armageddon was coming) so I don't remember much from that time. I was more of an 1980's kid. The 70's had great music, but the 80's had the best hairstyles and My Little Ponies, LoL! Speaking of Horses, I love them, so the 4 horses of the apocalypse always intrigued me, great coverage Stacy. It keeps on amazing me, after it hit me not too long ago, how they can accept the GB saying they are the spokesmen of / inspired directly by Jezus, but they keep on getting different insights on the same things. The insights are not even evolving, adding to existing, but changing... How does that not indicate it’s man made?!

I was born in August 1958 and lived through this period and what you say is so familiar to me also. Time is the great threat facing the Watchtowew. If Christ returned in 1914 then more than 10% of his milenial reign has elapsed and WW2 happened on his watch! What will they be saying if they last another 50-100 years? I have heard more plausible end time scenarios that occur over a period of time and face each individual choice. The idea that Armageddon will happen overnight ignores all the significant steps in Revelation. They also forget what Jesus said about false prophets and trees that bear bad fruit! The Governing Body forgets that only god knows the day and the hour when the process starts! Add to this sucking up to Hitler, registering as an NGO with the UN etc., etc. They throw Beth Sarim under the bus as a concession to critics neglecting any mention of Rutherford's mistress and his taste in lingerie. Their attitude to CSA is a final daminmg proof that they are rotten to the core! Incidently; there are "two witnesses" in CSA cases - the victim and the perpetrator! All it needs is someone to litigate the Watchtower using this premise. There are dictators who probably envy the cohesion of the Watchtoers hold over its adherants. They stand for nothing more than the selfish aspiration of saving one's own bacon not the restoration of the kingdom lost at Eden. I suppose that it would be ironic if Satan engineered a Christian cult using the Tetragrammaton as a cover! This makes the notion of every other faith being also laughable!

WOW! I love to hear from people that have seen some of this stuff during their lifetime! Everything here is TRUE and some make me laugh, some make me furious. They count on JW's not studying or reading anything. They often throw stuff just paragraphs away that contradict each other. The history is so sordid and would make a GREAT movie Gordon!

Yup, I remember the Pet rock - I also remember being old enough (I think I have at least a decade on you) to know that this was a scam. However, wanting to always know the Bible, I got sucked in through JWs indoctrination process, so unfortunately, I wasn't able to detect what was happening at the time. I also should mention that I was brought in by a JW who was known to have brought hundreds of people into this religion. He was good at it.

If I’m not mistaken, I could’ve sworn I read in an earlier issue of The WT in the 1800’s, Russell mentioning The War of 1812 as evidence that the last days began in 1799. As a matter of fact, The Harp of God p. 233 mentions “The Great Warrior”, Napoleon Bonaparte fulfilled prophecy during his conquest of Egypt in 1798, returning to France in….OCTOBER 1, 1799. (They loved October 1). And I’m fairly certain the O.G teachings of the King of North & South were France & Great Britain. Basically, The Organization has been using & relying upon wars to justify teachings/false prophecy since it’s inception. Let’s pretend other great wars or massive deaths caused by plagues just started in 1914, u know, like The Black Plague didn’t exist prior to 1914 or that The Mongolian Empire didn’t wipe out an estimated 11% of the earth’s population in the prior to 1914. Heck, let’s sweep the actual WORLD WAR of 1812 that included dang near every continent & let’s replace that event as clear evidence using World War I (known as Great War) that was mainly centralized in Europe. I know this religion hates facts, tangible events, historical reference & tends to create its own history by somehow manipulating real history’s dates & events? Anyways; another great podcast.

I can confirm they've spent billions of pages of literature proclaiming it....but one has to wonder if they've actually ever told them to their face ;)

The first horseman of the apocolypse is Satan, the counterfeit Jesus, a false prophet, the antichrist. The sequence of these four prophetic warnings match Jesus time of the end prophecies in Matthew 24, beginning with a false prophet saying "I am the Christ" then wars, famines, pestilence, earthquakes and death.

Nobody's asking why they are not allowed to read old literature from their own borg?? They are taking off dozens and dozens of books 📚 regularly. They are asking everyone else to look at the history of their religion... Come on... I don't know if I have to cry or laugh sometimes. 😊 thanks for your channel. You're making me laugh. I am your age and I left in 1985. I was blackmailed into baptism to go to college and they took me out of it 😭 💀 that was the lie that did it, the last one. I doubted for a very long time. Due to being beaten by parents mostly the father/ CSA from birth by a jw in very good standing $$$$ . I had real plans for suicide at 5 years old. ... Anyway, I am here 😂laughing with you. I love your sarcasm. Please continue to entertain us 🙂

It shows the level by which they're all brainwashed/cognitive dissonance. Imagine Jehovah sends you a treasure in 1990, but it's not longer a treasure in 2023... and someone throws it away..... it's incredible.

I'm 60 and have 7 brother's & 3 sister's and 3 of us that never became jw's or got baptized i studied 4 different time's by 3 different person in 2 different state's i had a lot questions that couldn't get answer and they said I'll go and do research but never came back or avoid answering my question's and wanted to move on ... the last book was a yellow book is the bible really truth or something like that and elder told me if i didn't get baptized after studying in that book he couldn't study anymore with me lol. It just remind me of alot metaphorical crap teachings

Ah yes, 'we will do research'.....and it NEVER happens. They return and tell you to 'just have faith' or 'wait on Jehovah'.....it's comically bad!

Wow 4 times, I am one of those born in the Organization. I studied 2 times and just couldn't make it make sense. Not for lack of trying though. But four times? Yes, trying to make the truth your own when their truth makes no sense got me in a lot of trouble but today I'm glad that I was never baptized. I had no idea what a bullet I had dodged.

SO THE QUESTION REMAINS, IS THIS LIFE ALL THERE IS? Is this life of misery, suffering and death and the toxic poisoning of our home, earth, all we have to look forward to? Is that what you are promoting, if not, what solution do you propose?

Hi Charles, I can say definitively that a solution to the universe's problems doesn't fall on me, so no suggestions here. What I can say is that the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses regarding the future is categorically false. That is the purpose of this little show. As for someone's outlook on future solutions or beliefs, I leave that to each person.

No offense meant...but, well, we can all sit on our hands while we wait on Jehovah...or we can get busy & do our best to help out. That comes from an old woman who has cleaned up a lot of big messes. Im here right now, I choose to be useful while I am. I didnt come into this world expecting more. It was promised to me by JW's. If I were being judged, do I want to be judged for waiting...or for doing?

They teach Jesus’ second coming has already occurred, and so has the resurrection to heavenly life, but invisibly ( this great info is for thinking people😂) Jesus said his return would be like lightening from the East to the West, ( everyone would know and see it - Matt 24) As for the resurrection, look what Apostle Paul says,” Men have already gone astray saying ‘the resurrection has already taken place, and they are jeopardizing the faith of some.” ( 2 Timothy 2:18 ) We were duped! Why? Because we didn’t make a close examination of Watchtower teachings, comparing them to the scriptures. Thankfully, God has given us time to wake up and be as the Berean, making sure of all things. “ Do not put your trust in men or nobles where no salvation is found” (Psalms 146:3) We should have known. ( Isaiah 5:19) ( Ps 40:4 ) ( Ps 118:8 )

I love your metaphor, regarding Stanley. Regarding the resurrection of Abraham etc, to live in Beth Sarim with the Judge. If they are all fresh out of the earth, ( resurrected ) will they be running around the grounds in the nude? if I was a neighbor I would be calling 911, ( persecution ). Do they come with a heavenly passport to prove who they are??? Another big white elephant, that was swept under the rug. Anyway, the old Judge would have corrupted them in no time at all with all his bootleg booze, and the women he lusted over so much.
