Usually leavers is just getting drunk in a field Evan after an assembly featuring an awkward slideshow. Strange hearing what your friends did, I'd say it's not representative.

In England maybe but not in Scotland the SQA just post them to you. When I was in 6th year, final year, I got email from UCAS and my university I got accepted before seeing my results so it was a bit of a relief before hand. To clarify the last time I got them was 2013 but I think it's the same method the now.

@Kiera Blowers Do you mind if I ask what part of the UK? My school in Scotland didn't have a graduation but maybe different for different schools. However we did have a prom for fifth and sixth years, two years groups for people how left in fifth year and didn't come for a sixth year. My school had prize giving for who did best in each class and special awards each year, like I got one for helping out backstage in every drama production that got put on between first and fifth year.

@Kiera Blowers Thanks for replying, apologies for the prom cancellation. I only asked as the majority of difference between Scottish and English schools. I do think thats the main problem with the American v British series for schools as the systems is different between the two as they're controlled by different exam groups. The two main ones are: 1. when people who went to an school in England and they say 'year 11' I have no idea what part of school life you're in as I grew up with: 2 years nursery then in primary it was primary 1 to primary 7, high school was 1st year to 6th year, so I always knew it as the year you were in that particular year of education life. 2. Applying to a job after I finished university in England and Reading on some applications you need these amounts of A-levels I'm not completely sure what the Scottish equivalent qualification is, so I have to search it up before I apply to know if I meet it or not.

Year 11 Leavers Last Year we: Signed shirts with sharpies (also did this in year 6) Could buy hoodies with leavers class of 2019 on the back with our names making up the '19' Had an assembly with photos of class trips and sports day etc. and awards for 'most likely to be a millionaire' etc. Had prom at a nearby hotel (and after-prom) Collected GCSE results late in the summer Had another assembly in December where we collected our formal certificates and other awards Feel sorry for the current year 13's - no prom and such so we threw together a party in the common room complete with bopping playlist, glowsticks and floats. Twas a great last day, possibly of our year 12 as well.

This turn into fun time as the teachers joined us. We got our local radio show to broadcast live from our party. Then we cleaned up and left for a day at the lake as part of our senior skip day. Graduation was everything you described from walking across the stage to small friend/family parties.

We kind of had a prom, but half of us didn't see the point, there was a rule where if you forgot your P.E kit/homework 3 times you were banned from prom but they quickly took that back after they realised people started to deliberately "forget" their kit/homework.

My school is in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and is rated one of the best schools in the uk. I’m only year 8 (2nd year) but my sister left our school last summer. At my school leavers is the nickname of the last assembly for year 11 (last year). Everyone does fancy dress. My sister did 80’s aerobics. Some of her friends did the incredibles and some did monks. There are pictures in school. Leavers was on the last full day of school for the year 11s because after that there weren’t as many classes because of GCSEs and once you finished a subject’s exam you, the majority of the time, you got to no longer do that class. After this, the students all get drunk somewhere. Yes they are 15/16. Once all exams were done, they had prom on a random day of the week, my sister’s was a Wednesday, I think. This was so every day of the week different schools could have prom and so salons weren’t full. Just to note, in my area of the UK, most dress shops had pages for girls to put there name, dress and school down so there was less chance of 2 or more girls in the same dress. Most people would get a fancy ride to prom. My sister and most of her friends hired a vintage, open top bus and they waved as they drove into the manor/pub thing, where the prom was held. Some people rented sports cars and some people even got a lorry! Some families (only mine and like one other actually went and sat IN the pub) go to the manor first (which is where it was held) and sit in the pub, waiting for the kids to arrive. As I was a year 7 (1st year) and sat in the pub in the manor, teachers were coming in in their glad rags and buying wine and beer. Yes, I saw my teachers drinking alcohol! Once kids arrive, the parents will take photos of their kids with their friends and family and teachers. At the prom teachers are getting drunk and dancing and the kids are all dancing. There is a sit down meal. My sister was head girl so she helped organise the prom and the meal. Apparently there is one female English teacher at my school, who was sitting of 15/16 year old boys laps and telling them how much she was going to miss them. (according to my sister she was wearing a tiny, little dress) In August there is the exam results day where, you guessed it, they get their GCSE results. Around Christmas the next year there is the award presentation. This all students are given exam certificates. That is the end of their high school journey. I hope anyone who doesn’t go to my school now understands the Castleford Academy way of leaving high school.

I am still in high school but I had leavers in Primary school. we had SATs and then it was all a break (I celebrated my bday that week) A few weeks after our SATs we went on a Residential trip (Wednesday-Friday) Before that we go hoodies with the year (17) and all of our names on the back We got books for autographs and messages form pupils and teachers We got a book with pictures and facts about everyone and what they enjoyed and what they want to do when they're older. On the second to last week we did a leaver's assembly (I was a ghost) and we got to stay in our own uniform after that After school we had a party outside (I was all alone) The last day we had toy day Then it was all done but I had to wake up early the next day for Summer School Yay...……

At my summer camp, the Counsellor In Training (CIT) unit would play a prank at the end of second session every year. The most common was switching the red and blue dorms (they would repaint them overnight), but one year they did the prank during first session. And instead of accomplishing it in one night, they did it over the course of the session. They would each take a handful of spoons from the dining hall at each meal. By the end of the session, we were using plastic spoons because we had none left. Then, on the last night, they left all of the spoons in a pile in the Center of camp. It was hilarious

in wales, my leavers was meant to be: • going to school on the last day BEFORE study leave: we hadn't done any exams, but it was our last day in a standard school day • there would be no lessons: most of the day would be spent getting your shirt signed, making small pranks (like writing on whiteboards and taping things to the wall),, shirt signing was the MOST IMPORTANT thing though • assembly: we're all crammed in a hall with a powerpoint playing. the teachers make speeches and a lot of crying,, we get our leavers hoodies too then we do exams, yadayada, and then had prom. prom would be the place where everyone gets shitfaced. then we have results day, where we get our results from the main hall and see if we get to go to college/sixth form :') since i'm the 2020 class for year 11, i only got to do shirt signing and crying. i don't know how results day will go, but i'm sad i can't get drunk in the local field

My experience- Year 6/Primary School Leavers: Signed shirts (you'd get everyone to sign it- any year, regardless of whether you knew them). Leaver's play, which doesn't seem like it's a thing in many places Year 11/High School Leavers: Leavers assembly- basically just going over the year and our time at the school,we also collected our leavers hoodies. Prom that night. Collected results in summer. Year 13/College Leavers: Nothing. We did absolutely fuck all. Other than collect results in summer.

Well, since I'm sitting here in my Leavers '19 Hoodie (with my name halfway down the 1) and still wondering why I never got my Leaver's Book, this is a bit familiar. Still, for Leavers we only had the ball, which was right at the end of the Summer Term, long after everyone's exams. For me, it was so long after exams that I had my results already and so spent some of the ball talking to teachers about doing retakes. The rest of the ball was spent going to church (on-site, this was a religious school), dinner, speeches, fireworks on the golf course (also a posh school), dancing, and people getting drunk and regretting it

Our Year 11 “graduation” at my school in the UK persisted of an assembly on the last day where our head of year gave out awards for things and then after all the serious awards he would give out funny awards. For example, I got “late to your own funeral” award because in Year 11 I was late to school the most out of my whole year (79 times). Then there was like a slideshow from throughout they years and get our leavers hoodies if you brought one and that’s about it 😂.

I went to high school in Texas, and we had something called Project Graduation. Basically, throughout senior year you could get "Senior Bucks" for going to certain school events like sports games, pep rallies, band/theater shows, etc. The night of graduation there would be an all night lock in at the school where you could use your bucks to participate in silent auctions or to do different activities (karaoke, obstacle courses, etc.). And they did a drawing every hour for small prizes, but you had to be present to collect them. It was a way for the school to give seniors something to do other than party too hard after the graduation ceremony.

I went to a private school in the US that had boarders and day students. Graduation was three days of events, meals, and insanity that, all ended with the formal graduation. Most of the stuff was for the whole senior class or even the whole school, like the academic award ceremony, but some events were for the boarders only. Also, every dorm had its own traditions. Mine had Williston night were the whole dorm would go into the main lounge and every girl would say their favorite thing/memory about each of the seniors. Our dorm parents and live-ins (think like college RAs) gave us gifts and there was a lot of crying. I definitely carried around my yearbook for the last two weeks getting everyone to sign it and lived in my senior class t-shirt that summer lol

My international school graduation was a mixture of American and British traditions with extra pomp 😅 We had the Leavers' Ball at a fancy hotel in Bangkok. We had a graduation in a separate, less-fancy hotel with caps and gowns; our high school diplomas were in a fabric padded folder with the school crest emblazoned in silver. We also had the Leavers' Dinner, which was a formal but also informal affair in ANOTHER fancy hotel. We had the Year 13 Leavers' Book in which we all got to design our page, but then there was also the school year book which every one in the entire school is included in (you get that for free on Speech Day). On top of the caps and gowns, we have leavers' t-shirts, which we had to wear to the Leavers' Dinner, and we also had Leavers' Letterman jackets, because they wanted to twist things up for that year. During the Leavers' Dinner, the school gifted us all with a school branded notebook, a keyring, and a fancy pen... oh, and some school branded chocolate, too. Now, Speech Day is the official last day of the year, and you watch presentations, speeches, awards being given, and the Head Boy and Head Girl are selected for the following year; all year 13s have to attend wearing their caps and gowns. From what I remember, everything except Speech Day took place during Study Leave. Before Study Leave, we had the Sixth Form Prank, and we also had Retro Day (where we would dress up in our primary, middle, or high school uniforms - whichever you had.) Basically, my last few months in school were MAYHEM.
