    Hey, was just wondering if you'd consider adding to your patterns a pouch area/pocket for a laptop or notebook in either this messenger bag or your Build #4 Messenger bag? As well as a push lock or any bag locks? Mainly because I'd really like to see a pattern or get advice so I could customise my projects so I can include space for my laptops/books. Thanks

    Ian, I'm so glad that I slowed down and really took the time to watch and really digest this amazing and informative video of yours. I purchased the pattern last year but haven't had the time to build the bag until now. You are truly a craftsman and I'm super excited about the possibilities this new knowledge will bring me. I'll make sure that you get to see some of my bags once I'm done. Also, I love the video that you did on installing zippers into messenger bags. Thanks again 👍

    Do not ologize for tight workimg space. A disabled person working on a couch not sitting up can learn from your tight spaces and awkward set up how to do things in the not normal way and ifsome one has all the money for the various tools. Then thry can work more prettily than you did. Yes i wanted to see you wrestled the corners of the bag. I think I might not have a side gusset but have a side seam not exactly at the side but more to the front or the back of the bag. Your appendage to the video was great. You invited us to modify and upgrade the 2 items you did based upon what we had at hand, what we liked and what methods we wanted to experiment with. Thanks. I know how to knit , but leather pieces making leather items is a different construction.,

    Do you recommend gluing one seam, letting it sit overnight, stitching that seam, then gluing the other seam? Or is it safe to glue both seams at the same time, then stitch them both the next day? Wondering about your experiences with having the second seam come unglued while you're messing about with stitching the first side?

  • @johnh5008

    @johnh5008

    6 жыл бұрын

    I tried it over the weekend, and I found that as I was messing about with one seam, the other one came unglued a bit. So maybe it would be better to get one side all stitched, then glue the other side and wait a night, then stitch that one.

    Hi Ian. Again a great video with a lot of advices. Thank you. I have a question though : is there a reason for not scratching the leather before applying the glue for the side stitchings ? I recall from the sheath videos for example that even with stitching you scratch the dyed leather for the glue to better adhered.

    +True Light I have thought about doing a camera bag I'm not sure if enough people would want to make it though as it's a bit more specialist (everyone seems to just use a phone these days!). The complex build alongs are weeks or even months of work on and off so I have to gauge what I think will be popular enough to merit it.
