Personally I’d say start off company. When you start trucking solo there’s a lot to learn and get use to the weight of everything is on you. Take the time to learn freight lanes routes ect no need to add truck payments fuel and insurance and ect go company for about a year Year and a half and then go lease to maximize your profit when you do go. It’s how a lot of lease people don’t make it there’s alot to learn coming out the gate

Good Choice

I would say go company. Coming from a guy who drove for prime for 5 years and leased all those years. Go company, start your LLC, get your own accountant, get in groups to learn the ins and outs of your truck, and look to move from prime in a year and a half and go full owner operator.

This is a really good advise, I hear a lot of people say learn the business first!! Lease sounds good but , you better read that lease!

Tht💚💚💚 was hard, but I would recommend company first only bc the expenses wouldn't be on you right off the bat...ain't nothing wrong with starting your own though like cuzz said, "it only takes a little bit of a business mind" I can tell you take care of business regardless💯 😘💚😘💚

For me there's nothing better than having ur own semi rig Slime definitely don't get International but Kenworth, Mack & Peterbilt all are good

Go. Lease. I started out lease 11 yrs ago. Never company. Why make less money for the same work. Save your money if your not going to stay with the company. Buy a truck with your credit union. Find a tax professional. Save up 10k for maintenance. When you you it. Replace it. Never start an LLC. Always start a corporation. If you dont you will owe S.S. I can teach so many people what to do to succeed. Cars, Tanker and heavy Haul and some Reefer depend on the account. I could go on and on...

I like the green truck or the Kenworth. The purple one wasn't too bad

I’d say it depends on each person and their current goals. Being an o/o has perks of dispatching yourself, taking hometime when you want, as long as you want and where you want and company has the benefit of less risk and less/different stress. I have had my CDL for 4 years now and done both and have tried just about everything, that’s the awesome thing about a CDL. Right now I am just company for a small company OTR because that aligns with my goals. Right now I don’t care about hometime, where the loads take me, or being forced to drive as I am 100% about the money right now. This company has awesome dispatchers and loads, all I do is drive and scan them the bills, nothing else. And will make 130k stress free. 😊 I do want to possibly finance another truck in the future but not in the current time. Don’t be afraid to change jobs/companies to get a feel for it all. I’ve done dry van, flat bed, reefer, tanker, box truck, van, literally all the driving 😂. Still need to try out doubles at some point but I’m not really interested in LTL so might never happen. Have fun and stay safe out there 💪

If you lease a truck everything is on you. No break down pay, hotel pay is on you, any issues with the truck must be paid by YOU.... if not covered by warranty, if you're leasing a truck that bill still has to get paid regardless if your able to work or not. Please, Please drive as a company driver for at least 2 years. By that time you see if you really like the industry and you will also learn the end's and out's of trucking. Right now everything is fun because your still with your trainer. Don't be surprise if you don't get as many miles as you are getting right now. Prime is still trying to buy you so as of right now your miles are going to look good while you're training. Remember once you lease or buy a truck......... you will become married to the industry. Good luck and keep it between the lines.

Midroof freight shaker it so convenient for us on the tanker side. I use to have a peterbilt and was spending to much on fuel

I feel like this is a bad time to be lease/OO. The trucking industry is so hostile right now. Even in a good market I wouldn’t lease with a company. I’ll rather finance through a bank or buy the truck straight up. I’m happy with being company now and they get me home every weekend.

I recommend getting a freightliner. Less issues. International sucks. Kenworth and petes are nice. Had issues with kw def system. Volvos are nice but got those annoying beeping systems that beeps for everything. Company driving most likely will get yoy in a small slow lightweight truck with no space

I would never lease especially from the company I'm driving for. I personally would stack paper till I could get a rig with a shower and bathroom. No kitchenette none of that just a bathroom and shower lol
