    Ryan thanks for the tips and demo.Well organised as usual. I’m just a hobbyist so it’s interesting to see how it’s done large scale. Can I ask when you did use rollers back in the old days 😂. Did you ever water down the Johnson’s a little or straight from the tin. I’m priming with leyland acrilic water based. Any tips to use when rolling with the last top coats. 👍

    Hey! Thank you! Oh yes, I did the roller thing for a while, until I got sick of it... it took days to paint a whole wardrobe as components, hence going airless and never looked back 😊 I don't think I ever watered it down. I remember with my topcoats I used a 9 inch gloss roller (prodec). I applied the paint over the whole surface, then let the weight of the roller glide over the painted surface over and over until I had a flat finish or the best finish I could get. I also used a short pile 9 inch roller before that. It put it on heavier and I still got decent finishes. I j7st let the weight of the roller do it's thing again over and over until it was flat. 👍👍👍

    Hi. To be honest, no. The wooden bench I put my brush on in the vid, I have 2 of those. I generally put them side by side next to my sprayer and stack materials there. I think Sean stacked them away as he knew I was filming and needed it clear in the booth area for filming 👍👍👍

I also get the little walk whilst you’re spraying now!! Started off holding the gun to close to the board but holding back 250-300mm now giving a better finish. Keep the videos coming 👍👍 don’t forget when your over for the TT give me a shout

    Hi! Well the best basic machine if gojbg for graco is the gxff )with hopper) or gx21 (without hopper). I'd always go graco, wagner and other brands are mainly cheap plastic rubbish. Cheaper graco versions are mannky gimmicky and probably not what you want, so I'd say either of the above or the 390 pc if you want to spend a bit more. You can always buy used too 👍

    I’m sure you said in another video that you just spray 2 coats of eggshell and don’t bother using a primer coat. I’ve tried the 2 top coat method and so far it’s worked a dream. When would I need to use a primer coat first?

  • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    Ай бұрын

    Well technically you should use a primer. A primer is so the top coat/s sit nice and flat on the wood/mdf/ply, without sinking in etc. So by using the topcoat as a primer, basically you need to sand it until you think its as smooth as it can be, and without going back to the wood/mdf/ply etc. A real primer is designed to do this very well, but i manage to sand back the 'top coat/primer' (the first layer of top coat paint), really well, hence sticking to this system. It works for me :-) By the way, I am trialling new paints. This video is showing the paints from Amicus uk. If you want to try these, give Rob a call or email, and he will give you some advice on some waterbased 1K paints, which I have been finding to be absolutely amazing and rock solid. Just mention my name :-) Cheers Ryan

    Brilliant video. Would you recommend the gxff for a hobbiest for spraying furniture or something else?

  • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    Ай бұрын

    Thank you so much :-) Yes I would say it is... It has the hopper on it, and think most hobbiest/diyers like this as they can just pour in half a litre or a litre etc, rather than needing to buy a bigger 2.5L tin etc with the non-hoper style versions. The pump on it is smaller than say the 390, but itll still do a huge amount of work before the pump needs a service/changing etc. I have put a link here as an example of the next sprayer up in terms abilty, the 390. Also check out used machines, always bargains out there. amzn.to/3xWGCOb Cheers Ryan

    @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop thanks for your help. Thinking of maybe grabbing one at some point as latex paint is not brilliant in hvlp. Would you consider the air assisted airless or do you think the results from airless with a fine tip is good enough?

    Hi Tom! Yes, I'm so happy with this new paint, it has transformed my finishes, I really do recommend trying it (there is a 5% discount code in the description if you do). Yes 100% it will go through an airless, and tbh it sprays much better than what I've originally been using and at only 1000 psi. I've not tried the clear coat, but Rob or Casper @Amicus uk do supply it so well worth calling them. Mention me and they will give discount if you do ☺️
