    Hi! I could do but we don't do any special methods really... We simply take a measurement every 200mm ish and mark that onto the workpiece. I've had lots of people say use u-scribe jigs, but they are a faff to set up, hence being old skool and doing it my way 😅👍

    excellent video, love watching the fitting into houses - when i was around 12-16 , I used to help my Dad (Cabinet Maker/Carpenter) back in the late 60's early 70's when he fitted wardrobes into houses , mainly around SE London, i helped quite often in school holidays , scribing to walls and ceilings , he was employed by a shop and fitted austinsuite and limelight wardrobes, if memory serves , also a french polisher and would often have damaged or stained items back at the workshop .... great memories ..... I also fitted wardrobes in a couple of my own houses , 7 in all , made from 2x1 2x2 and plywood , with bridging units , mainly used internal doors and fitted around them, but also made in 2 rooms the doors as well with a top doors - all good fine , but back in the 80's then

    This and tens of thousands of similar 19th century terraces in SE London. Daughter and son-in-law have almost identical rooms with added feature of the whole row of houses has corkscrewed giving up to 5cm from one side to another - lime mortar works! Ideally, I'd have scratch-built their wardrobes but they bought Ikea which I had to modify

    Love your work mate, just wondered how come you bring the end panel out flush with the door but your infills are flush with the carcass? Could you not have the infills out flush with the door or the opposite with the end panel?

    Hi mate, really appreciate it, thank you! It's just more work and detail to add to the job if I'm honest. Plus if you have a long run of doors, when you make the pelmit detail flush with the doors, it highlights any imperfections in the way the doors are fitted against the wardrobe. Like very slight gap differences etc. I do this detail if customers ask, but 75% of the time I do this way, for the reasons above 😊👍 Cheers ryan

    Really love this style of video, all your videos are great to be honest. It is a wealth of information which I’m putting to good use on my own build right now. The work that goes into a bespoke wardrobe is under appreciated. A quick question regarding the GTV hinges if you could maybe answer for me please. My doors are full length 2300mm x 500mm, 18mm with 6mm strips for shaker look. Are the overlay hinges you regularly use okay for this thickness? How many would you use per door? Thanks in advance mate. 👍🏻

    Thats really amazing to hear thank you!! Yes a full overlay is what you want... I do have this video to help you confirm: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4uHr6Oik7m8ndo.html I would use 4 hinges on a door of that size :-) Cheers Ryan

    Just when I’m about to finish mine off this popped up PERFECT gents. Amazing flawless work. Really well executed and presented lads. This really helped. Please just two questions Is it always a 6mm gap using a packer when fitting these doors. I used a template cut made from one of my spare shaker strips to mark hinge and bracket positions on doors and inside cabinets. When I hold the doors flush they seem to match up ok. Is this method easier. One more question I’ve primed my doors two coats acrylic primer LEYLAND . So if your customer asked you what top coat paint would you choose / recommend when applying with a roller and would you use a foam or flock ?

  • @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    @thelondoncraftsmanworkshop

    Thank you. The 6mm between works for us, maybe try and see. You will need slight adjustment after but they always do. I use johnstones waterbased eggshell and sometimes satin. When I used to roller, I used 9" gloss roller 👍 Prodec sell them 👍

    Thank you I used the 6mm packer. I had my 37 mm line but I used the packers my misses pushed on the door to keep it flush as you demonstrated in a previous video. Ryan it bloody worked all 4 shaker style doors done exactly as you mentioned. They closed with a perfect gap just a slight adjustment by a couple of mm. GTV hinges solid and the doors are pretty tall Spot on loads still to work out. It’s been a massive learning curve but I’ve watched over and over again. I’m amazed what goes into it. Very happy people like you do these vids to help others. Thanks lads. I’m on drawers now so watch out. Brilliant videos and tips 👍👍👍
