learning to Sew for a Greener Closet 🌱

journeying into the world of sustainable fashion, sewing, and giving new life to forgotten clothes. hopefully one day i can graduate to thrift flips and sewing clothes from scratch, but for now, we start with learning how to mend and tailor. I hope I was able to give a helpful little intro into what supplies you need to start sewing if you've ever been interested in that sorta thing. if not, but you still want to customize your generic clothes, befriending your local tailor is the next best thing. it's cheaper than you think! thanks for watching, eco-conscious stranger 🤍

I enjoyed watching your video! Sewing is empowering, and I feel that all children should be taught to sew. They will understand how clothing is put together (many young women today don't know what darts or interfacing are!), and they will be able to toss their heads at second-rate clothes and say, "I can do that better myself." They will also be able to express their individuality through their fabric and trim selections. My daughter has to have alterations made when she buys jeans. She pays $35 a pair to have the waist taken in, but she could do it for free if she'd only improve her sewing skills a bit.

I agree completely. Not just women, young men too! I’m all for going to a tailor but as you said they can be costly. The abundance of cheaply made clothes has made it difficult to give our clothing extra attention bc I doesn’t feel worth the time and effort. But it totally is worth it. Thanks for watching :)
