We wanted to get pizza delivered tonight because it's a holiday and we deserve it. After watching this, I'm boiling a 88 cent pack of spaghetti, making my own sauce with 3 lbs of tomatoes I bought on markdown for 99 cents and defrosting some ground beef that I bought on clearance. That's what's for dinner tonight. Not some $20 pizza. Always love coming to KZread to watch these rants when we have moments of weakness.

Dave is like the family's rich uncle that no one talks to because "Oh, well, he's crazy because he found a way to get out of debt and doesn't mince words when he sees us getting under in our finances." But if you listen to this rich uncle, you will find a treasure trove of invaluable tools and methods to help you to obtain a financially peaceful future if you are willing to make the sacrifices.

This is what my wife and I used to argue about. Saying "No". We're only 24 but our families always ask us for money because of how much we make and the moves we're making financially. We share the lessons we get from these videos and how we're able to afford our new car and our new house but they don't care about that. They just want the money we bust our tails for every day. What sucks is that my wife gave in because she's just a sweetheart and doesn't say no despite knowing our goals and despite knowing I'd be upset. Point is, saying no and sharing the things they don't want to hear is powerful.

Looking back I realized I used my cc's because I had given my extra cash away expecting pay back. SMH. Amazing how quiet my life is since I started saying NO... Luv it! On baby step 3! Then I had things happen, like hospital stay, car accident and a few other things. Now I'm hurting. Should have listened years ago. It's tough, but now I am making progress. It will take some time, but I am committed to doing thing right to get everything paid off (-the house) the next few years. If anything else happens, I will be in serious trouble because I waited to be serious about this.

But one of Dave Ramsey's quotes that I really love is that you live like no one else, so later you can live And GIVE like no one else" this really helped me. Sometimes not helping people and giving them money, gives them the power to help themselves.

I mean going out on the anniversary is far different then always going out and wasting money... especially going out/doing something on your anniversary doesn't have to be expensive. You can do a lot together that doesn't cost a fortune. Did you even do anything together with/for your girlfriend? Because girls ain't leaving usually that easy after a no...at least as long as there hasn't been something already boiling long term in the background.

I'm a die hard packer fan but remember the quote by Vince Lombardi that the important things first are religion and family then the Packers. Taking care of the family also means being smart with money. I cut out NFL Sunday ticket from my budget to pay off debt and believe me that was hard but it's also hard being in debt.

I agree with him about saying no to ourselves, but on the flip side no one is guaranteed tomorrow. I mean what is saying yes to yourself once for 500 ... as long as its only once. At times I think he is OVERLY restrictive when it comes to spending, then again the majority of people have almost never said no to themselves in their lives, so I understand why he's so strict. I didnt thumbs down tho... just didnt rate.

I found Dave Ramsey accidentally when one of his videos popped up on "suggested" videos list. Long story short, I heard his seminar and thought he was talking directly to me. It was a born again moment. I buckled down and paid off a tax bill that had been lingering around for 6 long years. It took a measly 5 months once I decided to throw everything I had at the lousy $12,000 debt. I had to say "no" to a lot of things: trips, nights out, giving gifts on birthdays and Christmas.

Brilliant! I've got quite good at saying " no". It's amazing how many people here in the UK will find the money for new mobile phones, yet more clothing, nights out, holidays, new car, etc but panic at the thought of losing their job because they have no savings. I know a lot of people who spend their money as fast as it comes in because they are constantly enduring themselves like overgrown kids. And then people wonder why so many kids have grown up with a massive sense of entitlement!

I don’t understand why some people learn and some seem incapable of learning. I learned the lesson of credit cards when I was 20 and bills took most of my paycheck. It was awful when the only thing to cut was the groceries and cheap food isn’t very good. I swore to never go back, then I married the wrong man and had to learn it again. Now I’m debt free and nothing will ever change that!!!

In the beginning of my marriage the word No was seen as an insult, setting boundaries was seen as offensive by the people closest to us. But over the years my husband and I have learned that the people who were being this way were the unhealthy ones not us. Don't let anyone family/friends or strangers walk all over you or guilt trip you into toxic unhealthy relationships.....just say No and let them deal with themselves.

Amazing rant. Working sales I heard a guy tell me I need to Remove "no" from my vocabulary. My response was simple, and because of it he came back and bought from me, No. No is a simple and boundary setting word that does not mix feelings. Perhaps that is why it is politically incorrect; it actually tells you something instead of beating around the bush.

My favorite word! $1,500 for a single game...that's insane. You could purchase a sports package, super sized flat screen T.V. and still have money left over at the end of the game. I think it would be worth just as much to have friends over and watch the game with pizza and snacks.
