Learning to Enjoy Spending Time Alone || bookstore solo-date, DIY projects, and other happy things.

Hello dearest friends! We are back with another vlog. As you probably noticed, this one was actually filmed back in October, but I loved the vlog enough that I still wanted to share. If you can, I highly recommend going to the bookstore or a cafe on a Friday night - it is so peaceful and cozy! Thank you for spending a weekend alone with me, it ended up being a good one.
For anyone else who is feeling lonely, or just tends toward being introverted, this one is for you.

This is so true. Often though, I feel more alone in a crowd as I'm almost always the quiet wallflower that nobody notices and when I talk I get talked over by the more loud, aggressive types. It has been this way my entire life. The cure for this, because depending on the situation it really does hurt me, is to be alone with my animals and write in my journal or read a book.

I've been by myself if you will, for years. I enjoy my own company and I take myself out all the time! 😊 I've raised my family; divorced and work, go to the gym, etc where I'm with people, but still by myself. My favorite thing is to go to a bookstore and spend the afternoon! Thank you for a lovely video.

I find myself popping around videos like this for the peace in mind. I’m 19 and always alone and would rather go to a bookstore then a bar or buying a bottle. I have a boyfriend but am probably more alone now then when I was single, with his schedule I’m alone more then I am with him. I love my peace and being an individual but sometimes I look at myself and ask what I’m doing.

totally agree - paperbacks are superior to hardbacks. oh man, and a night of muffin and coffee at a book store is the best! oh and pro tip - in order to prevent dribbles when drinking from those cups, make sure the cup's seam is on the opposite side of the drinking hole. changed my life after discovering that.

Lovely video Faith, I'm glad you're back! :) My favorite period piece is Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), you might have seen it or read the original book already. It's about three girls and their teacher from an Asutralian boarding school in 1900 mysteriously disappearing, I love it for its magical elusive new-age feeling combined with period setting as well as the gorgeous cinematography of dreamy landscapes, rivers and rocks. Not a period piece, but another film I love for its magical oneiric feeling is The Double Life of Véronique (1991) about a young French singer and her mysterious doppelgänger in Poland. It feels a lot like remembering a strange dream that colours the coming day with a feeling of melancholic hopefulness and bittersweet feeling for something elusive, something slipped away as you woke up. As a literary person, you might as well enjoy the works of Eric Rohmer - his films explore the intricacies of human relationships, moral dilemmas and philosophy through naturalistic dialogue. The settings, especially seasons, also play an important role in his movies, making for a lovely backdrop of summery holidays in nature or cozy orange falls. The dialogues as well as the look and landscape were an important influene to both the novel and film version of Call Me By Your Name! I hope you find some enjoyment and inspiration within those movies. It's nice to see a vlog again and I'm definitely looking forward to more of your calm and cozy videos!

I get it, Faith! I also consider myself an introvert, but sometimes I do miss connection. My boyfriend and I spent almost 3 years doing long-distance. it was hard but temporary. You should be so proud of making the most of that weekend. Sometimes, even though it is not what we want, we have to spend time alone, and having fun and challenging yourself with those shelves instead of staying in hiding is so much more fruitful. I hope you had a lot of weekends like that since then. 2 period pieces I watched not really recently, but recently enough are Legends of the Fall and The Wonder, they are VERY different, but both are so good. I would say that The Wonder is a bit more interesting, it's about a nurse that goes to rural Ireland to observe a girl who is miraculously surviving without eating to prove if it is a miracle or not (my explanation does not sound interesting, but I think the trailer would do a better job). Legends of the Fall, I was sure I was gonna dislike it, probably because the title in Portuguese sounds so cheesy, but I liked it so much! It's about " three brothers and their father living in the wilderness and plains of Montana in the early 20th century and how their lives are affected by nature, history, war, and love" (I took this from the movie's Wikipedia page). I found the movie very intense and the places were so pretty! PS. 2: It's so good to have another video

I love interesting conversations. Often, it is so much easier to find them in a book or a movie. Maybe, we should refine our thinking before we speak. So, when we finally say something, it would come out like a well-crafted song, a poem, or an aged wine.

I just found your channel today and really like your videos. Very refreshing compared to so many videos out there today that seem to copy each other and all look the same. I love books as well and I am quite the introvert. I really don't get lonely since I prefer to be on my own. I love films also but I don't think I've watched a period piece in a long time. One film about books I love and watch often is The Ninth Gate. I'm not sure if you have seen it? It's from 1999. Another film I love about books is The Reader or La Lectrice from 1988 but it's in French. I notice you were reading one of the Millennium series books in your other video also. I enjoyed all those films as well. I have the books for each but haven't read them yet.

Your skin is perfect, I believe you don’t need any makeup at all. Those who use makeup things, start to look much older very soon. Makeup destroys the natural skin texture. You look soothing and calm. I don’t know why people use the word alone and lonely too much. We can be alone amongst thousands and we can be noisy while alone. It’s all state of mind. Thanks

My fave period drama is actually a miniseries adaptation of "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell, there are two versions, but the one I always watch is the one from 2004. Far From the Madding Crowd is a favourite too, but not Pride and Prejudice because there were many things that I didn't like, in fact, I only like the settings, the soundtrack and that Mr. Darcy, everything else is a NO. However, the 1995 miniseries with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle (let's overlook the lake scene that they put there jut because) is a masterpiece. I'm a huge fan of your instagram and your vibes, and I'm really happy that you are back on youtube :) Have a nice week!

I love Éric Romer movies. They are not long classic adaptations, but more like poetic essays with dialogue. My favorite is La Boulangère de Monceau made in 1962. I love watching French new wave. On the other hand, a book based film from one of my favorite authors, Janet Frame, is An Angel at My Table, a sort of autobiography. She wrote in prose, which I love to read, and the film feels that way too.

I’ve come a Long way to Learn how to be alone and to understand that being Alone does Not Necessarily translate as Loneliness. Also, As someone who for Most of my life yearned and desired to have a husband, and although I Married quite young, I never Knew the first thing about the Fine Art of Marriage. As well, I truly believe what helped to ruin my Marriage is the fact that my husband and I started having Babies much too soon (I LOVE MY CHILDREN!! So please don’t come for me l😂). But over the years after going through a Divorce, rearing my children with God’s Blessing, and finally having an Empty Nest, I’ve come to Embrace being Alone. These days I truly Treasure the Time to read my Bible, spontaneously take a walk, or phone a friend and meet up for lunch 💜

You remind me, of me through the years and today. I am lonely and alone quite a bit. But I go to the library, book stores or antique shops, etc. to your point it fills up my soul to be with so many stories. Stay well.
