New Yorker here. Probably the best summary of the LA vs NYC I read on Twitter: “When I describe NYC vs LA culture to my friends I often say "NYC is kind but not nice, LA is nice but not kind. Niceness is saying "I'm so sorry you're cold," while kindness may be "Ugh, you've said that five times, here's a sweater!" Kindness is addressing the need, regardless of tone.“ That’s beyond true. We’ll help you when you’re struggling with luggage trying to make it in the subway platform in genuine concern but we don’t expect anything back for it. We’ll quickly carry on about our day.

I predict Remy will end up living back in New York before long. Her heart is still in the Big Apple.

Hey Remi, I’m also born and raised east coast (BOS to SF) and moved to the west coast two years ago. Tooooottallly get the “nice but not genuine” west coast experience you’re talking about. Tbh I found it’s more so transplants than those born & raised in CA. Also, I know this may sound like a long time but it took me two years to really settle in/make real friends/feel at home, but it’s totally worth it you just gotta persist and you’ll come out being sooo proud of yourself. NYC will always be there, enjoy the ride ❤️

It's really exciting seeing you go through a new chapter in your life, change is always a little scary but I hope you will learn to love LA as much as you did and still do in New York❤️

The fact that I was born and raised for most of my childhood in LA really shocks me at how body/health focused it is. I wonder how things would’ve been for me if I was still there as the whole “Health Culture” began to arise.

Brandon is so patient and encouraging! I'm getting flashbacks of my Asian parents teaching me when I first learned XD I have yet to get my license (25 yrs) I get really anxious and nervous driving alone, always need someone beside me lol

The unhoused situation in LA is only getting worse. I used to live in San Francisco and it was insane some of the set ups they had. I have been debating whether I would want to live in LA but I feel being born in LA and growing up close by I don't know if I would be happy there.

I just moved from the NYC area to LA as well, and I think ur LA perspective is definitely bc of the industry you're a part of! Bc of my corporate job, I was definitely surrounded by different people NYC than you were (heavily made up, super concerned with what you do for work, etc)
