What about if it's framed where you can't access to view the signature without ruining the frame?

We have a painting of Geisha girls, painted on cork, which we purchased for $300 in 1975. The cork, which is framed behind glass, is a bit wavy. How can I find out if it is valuable? Enjoyed learning from your video, thank you.

If you don't even know who painted it, why did you pay $300 in 1975? Look up the artist and likely only Japanese art appraiser who's seen thousands of the artist's works can tell if genuine. If it's an artist no one cared to forge, then likely it's similar to the $5 geisha paintings at yard sales.

Does crazing on the piece devalue it?

The vase shown was made with a crackle glaze as part of its decoration. If something like dishes have crazing, it does devalue those items.
