Me: “I’m going to go to bed on time today!” Also me: *ends up watching youtube videos about 19th century Japanese pottery at 4 in the morning*
This was awesome. Great delivery, informative, good photos, great compilation, and well made video. Love the outtakes too! Lol.
Well, that was informative! I inherited a Satsuma tea set in cobalt blue. It's probably not worth a lot of money, but I still love it!
Thanks so much for the overview! So helpful.
Thank you Your lecture was very informative.
I'm going to binge watch all of these, interesting stuff. I thrift a lot for fun and this is very educational.

If there is no mark at all does that mean it was never supposed to leave Japan?
What about if the item says satsuma on the bottom written like that
So a vase with a sticker that says Japan and word satsuma written with flowers overhead is fake then ? I have had this vase since the 70’s and never even thought it might be fake .
I have a Koi bowl with satsuma on the bottom . How can I tell it is real? How can I post a picture of it? ?
I found this very helpful but I still can’t find the markings from the vase I have. There is a square marking on the bottom of the vase, and an oval marking on the back of the vase. The markings are both red, does that matter? Thanks, Claire
Please tell me about the dark cobalt vase on your left while I look at you.
Finally New upload. I follow your youtube and your ebay store:) I also sell chinese antique part time.

We had a color blue vase named imperial made in Japan. I don't know if it's real tho
Very instructive, thank you. (Only, I would suggest that perhaps you might want to take a look at how the Japanese names are pronounced correctly.. It´s very easy, actually...)
Hi have 2 x Satsuma Urns approx 100 to 150 years old?. I took several photos and a signarure on the underside.

Professor, we who follow your programs need translation. Where is the translation? .F J .
I have a piece of pottery that I'm not sure if it's real or not. I would like to have it looked at by someone who knows but dont have money to burn. Any help would be ice have a pic of the bottom if that will help.
I recently found a Nippon vase heavily painted in 22kt. Unfortunately, sometime in its life it took a spill from its shelf. Damn cats! It broke one of the handles off. But somebody thought enough of this vase to repair it. There are 3 breaks in the handle and the closest to the neck a well hidden chip. Is it worth having it professionally restored? How much can I expect to pay for the restoration? What is the difference in value from perfect undamaged condition, to damaged unrestored value, to professionally restored value. I can send pics to your email.
